What is shocking to me is that ATWT is only 30,000 total viewers away from GH.

Wow. I find the daily numbers so interesting. Y&R lost 0.5 ratings points and nearly a million viewers from Monday to Friday. B&B lost 0.4 and over half a million. I wonder if these are things that concern them, because I think I'd be a little alarmed.

Some people, if they don't know, you can't tell 'em.

Even more shocking is that AMC was the top rated soap on ABC. Who the hell is still watching that piece of crap?

The sad thing is that GL was the last cancelled soap that was consistently and unambiguously the bottom of the heap. With that soap gone, really the bottom four soaps are interchangeable in terms of total viewers. AMC, GH, OLTL, ATWT -- any one of them could be at the bottom of the totem pole on any given week. Cancel any one of them, and it's open season on the other three. (However, I think ABC will hold on to GH longer than NBC will hold on to DAYS, even if DAYS gets more viewers.)

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."
- Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)
