I'm not talking about looks wise. Everyone in daytime is refreshed anyway. I'm talking who's lost some of their star power for you? Who did you used to think so highly of and now you don't? Who were you a big fan of and now you're thinking "Why am I a fan of this person anyway?"
For me it would have to be B&B's flannery and lang. I used to think they were the best, and now not so much. Granted I only follow B&B now thru spoilers or the occassional less than 5 in clip online, but prior to that both actresses perfs seemed so hollow.
Is it the writing? Or are they phoning it in? Or maybe it's because the ONLY interesting thing on Daytime is what occurs behind the scenes.

Christian Leblanc: Less pizazz, more substance. Peter Bergman: I still enjoy the actor, but his performances are starting to become very one-note lately. Michelle Stafford: Pairing her with Joshua Morrow was the worst thing that ever happened to her character. Thom Bierdz: The boyish charm is no longer there, but rather a hollow boring man. Eileen Davidson: During the haunted house debacle.
It obviously depends upon your reactions to certain actors as I have never enjoyed Bergman on YR. He's struck me as one note for years. I don't think it was pairing her with Morrow that caused Stafford's problems. It was the weak writing. They were on fire at the beginning, and Lathm ruined it by turning Phyllis into a housewife from a fifties film.
AMC: Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew. Their performances are the same no matter when I tune in or whatever is happening to their characters.
ATWT:Except for parts of the drinking storyline, Maura West has repeated her performances for years. There's nothing new there. Compare that to Cady McClain who comes back after a disastrous former run, and knocks it out of the park. OF course, she's rewarded with a pink slip.
GH: Sarah Brown would be a great example if I thought her acting lived up to the critical acclaim she received in the past.

Crystal I agree with you on Maura West and Sarah Brown. They are good actors, but often too predictable.
I see your point with Stafford, and I sort of agree. However, she also played the role very foolishly, making Phyllis into some giggling idiot.
In contrast to this thread, I think Melissa Archer is regaining her luster again. She's been great in this Jared story. Ditto the actress that plays Tea, who just came back with a vengeance.
Anthony Geary: he is no longer effective because his character never grows and he plays the same scenes over and over and over again. Ditto, Jane Elliot, she used to be so dynamic as Tracey but this watered down, sanitized version we've gotten since she and luke got together is beyond boring and has ruined this once villianious character.
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

Yes. It's more the writing, which sucks because even with GH's atrocious storytelling; the script writing used to be generally strong for Jane Elliot.
MTSROCKS, I wonder if the Sheila thing knocked the wind out of Stafford the way playing Justine harmed Victoria Wyndham on AW. You're right that some of her choices have been bizarre, but the whole triangle has been a disaster. Morrow was firing on all cylinders, but he's a cypher now. Poor Sharon Case. Not a fan, but what she's been reduced to is painful to watch.
The problem with Jane Elliot is they started to write plots around her rather than letting her come in and be witty and cutting. Her actions made no sense, and she was saddled with the Ethan storyline which disrespected the show's signature couple.
I remember watching Michelle Stafford's Emmy reel last year, and it was sort of shocking. Her Sheila stuff was fine, but I couldn't believe how happy housewifey Phyllis was. I wasn't watching the show then, so I didn't know if she was playing up the contrast or Phyllis had actually become like that.

I agree with you on that, i liked her better in ghoul girl days...but i would also unfortunately have to say deidre hall...i'd like to see marlena back, but they need to do something with her character, i liked her when she put stefano in the coma, but otherwise i haven't liked her since...she was the salem stalker and before that, they turned the character of marlena into too much of a victim...and then when they tried to turn her into a heroine...it just didn't work, they turned the strong marlena character into a scared woman trying to turn heroic.

Well, I like a lot actors but some characters I am just tired of. In some cases its just weak and redundant sl told over and over
OLTL
Blair ( I adore DePaiva but minus her scenes with Dorian I can't stand the character anymore). Another baby for Todd? Please end all the babies and kids on OLTL its enough already
John McBain- Mr Sour Puss has got to go. I am tired of the same consistent face from Easton no matter what
Melissa Archer- she was so fresh and exciting when she entered but she is so boring now to watch
GH
All mob crew
Why can't they make Jason a Q again ( his memory comes back-whatever) and revitalize the Q family as a result
I am just so tired of all soaps showcasing men who are these thug, mobster types. I used to love to see Ethan on AMC and Jax on GH cause they had a suave European style to them which I love and yet no soaps really showcase them anymore
Its no reason I root for zero soap couples anymore

Deidre Hall has been the victim of some terrible writing in the last decade, but I think she shines whenever she gets a story that isn't terrible, like her role in the Hope/Lexie baby switch story, parts of the serial killer storyline (actually, despite how awful that got, she was good throughout), and the denouement of John's "death."
I like Nadia Bjorlin, but I've never thought of her as all that dynamic of a performer.
i knew those two would take a stab at sjb and blame her acting over the writing. we'll see with b&b.
stafford, i agree, has lost her fire since the morrow pairing.
laura wright, ever since being turned into such a goody two-shoes, is not as exciting as when she first joined gh. she also was very rootable on the city. i think that was her best acting.
geary, yes.
benard and burton as well.
and we will see with jonathan jackson when he returns, he doesnt look as innocent and as boyish as he did back then. i will only get to watch him his first two weeks as i am gone after sjb leaves.

i am obviously in a minority here but i'm dissapointed sarah brown is leaving i mean i'm really enjoying the character for if nothing more then her sparring with everyone, it's too bad they couldn't have toned down the character so she has atleast a couple of friends

I agree about Wright. It's a continuation of the downward trajectory she was on at GL. On that show she started seeming so fresh and full of life and was playing things dowdy and dull by the end of her run. Very disappointing for an actress that started out so, so good.
