I have loved GL for many years. As with many soaps the recast roles when actors and actresses leave to pursue other projects etc.....so I wonder what actors and actresses did you love best in some of those roles. Rick Hearst will be the only Alan-Michael ever for me, hands down. When he was on he was, and still is so delicious. Also, I love Gina Tognoni as Dinah, but the original Dinah, at least I think she was the original, Wendy Moniz was one of my faves, as well as the actor who originated the role of Mallett. What do you all think?

Wendy Moniz was my favorite Dinah (I could never really see Gina Tognoni as that character, even though I admired her work in the part), Mark Derwin was my favorite Mallet, and Rick Hearst really made it impossible for anyone else to play Alan-Michael. Both the recasts were duds. Absolutely the same goes for the failed attempt to recast Cassie ("Shady") Layne. Laura Wright owned that part and NF was a very inadequate replacement.
Nicole Forrester wasn't even imho an actress so for her to get such a pivotal role was pretty awful imho.
I definetly think that Liz Keifer as Blake pretty much erased any memory of the previous actresses. and if i'm not mistaked wasn't Sherry Stringfield one of those people?
I would also say that Aubrey Dollar as Marina is one of the best recasts the show has ever seen.

Yes, Sherry Stringfield played Blake up until the time Kiefer took over.
Aubrey Dollar was great as Marina and much more interesting than Mandy Bruno. I don't think anyone else played that character before her (unless it was an off-contract child).
Kimberly Simms was a fantastic recast for Mindy. And Peter Simon became the definitive Ed Bauer, though he wasn't the first.
Hemingway once told a friend he was considering giving up writing. "But Ernest," the friend protested. "You love writing!" "No," corrected Hemingway. "I love having written."

Certainly not a pivotal character, but I thought the Ethan Erickson as J Chamberlain recast was great. He was way better than the dude he took over for.

Yes, the role of Marina was played by Casey Rosenhaus from 1993-1995, by Alysia Zucker from 1995-1995, by Sasha Martin from 1996-2000 and Aubrey Dollar from 2001-2004. An actress named Kit Paquin played the role for a brief period in 2004 before Mandy Bruno took over. Although from what i gather the role was never a major one until Dollar took over.

My fave would have to be Beth Chamberlin. How she failed to garner even one Emmy nod - much less a deserved win - is beyond me. She was fabulous and added much more depth to the character than Evans (who I did enjoy in the role) did.
