Good for you Eric and Y&R will suffer without him. I hope he returns because there's gonna be a big hole in GC an no new character or recast can fill it.

Well, i've been stating for YEARS that Eric in the best in the business. No actor in daytime can match his talent.
Braeden's good friend Les Moonves better step up and bring Eric back to the Y&R fold, or trust me, i am done with this show.
Great read, Nel. Please tell Eric that he has every Y&R fan in Pittsburgh praying for his return...and the same ones are threatening to quit watching if they get rid of him. No lie!!!
Nelson, is EB helping his chances to return to Y&R by talking to the press on how he was handled? Or is he hurting his chances of returning to Y&R if he keeps talking to the press? He's basically painted Sony in such an unflattering light, but then again since that is how they treated him, then he's just reporting what went down.
I think the best question would be, why does this never happen on Y&R's sister soap B&B? Why can't Sony run Y&R the way Brad Bell runs B&B? Say what you might about Brad Bell's hackneyed storytelling and cheesy dialogue, but none of his big stars ever get into these tense, highly publicized negotiations. Would B&B hire EB if Y&R doesn't work out? He could play Massimo's brother. Or he could be Eric's brother who was married to Maggie, I think his name is John.
It's kinda perplexing how the writers planned Victor's exit, yet he stands by MAB? With the kind of mentality on Y&R, did the in crowd cast (Bergman, Stafford, Leblanc, Khalil, St. John, etc.) have some kind of part in this? If they can block Rowell's return and stronghold the pre noms, could they have somehow influenced EB being written out?

the comments on Michael Fairmans interview with Adrienne, Kristoff, and the others were interesting (google the interview).
Based on this read and hearing it all I think that Eric just really wanted some basic human respect and he didn't get it. It sounds like he was given a less than a half-assed attempt at communication and that this is blatant sabotage. Are they using Eric to send a message? Do they think they'll lose him for a few months and then work something out? They're gambling big time because the show needs him more than he needs the show and a stubborn guy like him might just decide not to return in order to prove a point. They ultimately lose - not him. It sucks and the whole thing seems like it could've been avoided had they dealt with him professionally.
He even said he would take a pay cut so the casts comments about being a 'team-player' and whatever are crap. He may have been ****ed they exercised a clause they had a right to act on in - fine - but ****ed or not he was willing to negotiate and they couldn't even pick up the phone. WOW
I wonder how Drake and Deidre are doing personally - it just sucks - all of it.

For a few years now it is Eric Braeden who has been my favorite interview. He consistently has insightful points to make.
I'm sorry this mess has been happening to the Emmy-winning actor. But I'm loving that he appears not to need The Young and the Restless anywhere near as much as they (Y&R, Sony) need him.
I wouldn't be surprised to see more performers give up on the genre. Just like the viewers (of yesteryear).
good article. but i have one question, nelson said he can’t recall another daytime superstar who hasn’t left his or her series at one time or another..But havent both Susan Lucci and Erika Slezak been on their shows for over 30yrs without leaving daytime??
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..
