This category was another lackluster one, but I have to say one person suprised me in the biggest way. Conelius Smith Jr. will win this b/c he had the best tape period. Had had the perfect balance of subtle and powerful moments in this reel and having some of the best of the best in Daytime in the reel doesn't hurt. Blake had the worst reel in the category. He's such a good actor, but he couldn't even make this character shift believable for me. Darin on the other hand was pretty good in his reel. The anger he conveyed was on point and believable. E.J. is my darkhorse to take the win. At first I thought his nomination was a case of convienence b/c he was the only one put up from his show and they could mark him off easily, but the reel was pretty good. Very quiet scenes and realistic acting. Bryton, a previous winner and perenial nominee, was OK, but nothing special when comparing all of the reels.
Rankings 1. Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie, AMC) 2. Darin Brooks (Max, Days) 3. E.J. Bonilla (Rafe, GL) 4. Bryton McClure (Devon, Y&R) 5. Blake Berris (ex-Nick, Days)
