I really have been impressed with Joshua Morrow and Sharon Case remembering Cassie. Very poignnat, understated, and beautifully acted.
In contrast, I thought the episode with Jill/Cane/Kay remembering Phillip Chancellor was sublime. All three actors excelled with the material they were given. MAB's best strength is her reliance on Y&R's history, and properly utilizing it.
ITA about Restless Style being the equivalent of Fusion. I cannot stand Y&R lately. I barely can get through an episode without being bored to tears. I was glad to see Danny Romaletti the other day though. I like the concept but it is being done poorly. It is not believeable for a minute that business would be ran that way. I do like seeing Michelle Stafford, Peter Bergman, Joshua Morrow, and Sharon Case in a lot of scenes together because I feel they are the four aces that have at least kept me watching during the bad times the last few years. I just wish there could be something more exciting going on because what is happening on screen isn't working. Hopefully, Hogan Sheffer will see that and put the sparkle back into Y&R just like he put it back in ATWT when he wrote there from 2000-2005.

I agree. Monday's show took me back to the Y&R I loved....emotional, filled with angst...and those two are always at their very best together. It was just amazing watching them fall right back into that chemistry they have.
The Jill/Katherine/Cane stuff was great as well. I think Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton could read the phone book together and I'd be enthralled.

The Cane/Jill/Katherine stuff was great except that it took up perhaps five minutes of airtime while more time was spent on the idiocy that is the magazine and more Gloria nonsense. I don't think Goddard, Walton, and Cooper were able to utter more than 30 seconds of dialogue before they were cut off. If I didn't know any better, I would say Latham is still writing the show.
I am so done with Victor/Sabrina and that overplayed piece of dribble that comes on everytime they are on screen.
This show is just mindnumbing. About the only thing I am enjoying these days is the new Adam/Heather hookup (who knew) and the lively Jana. Other than that, the show is a huge snooze fest.
I'm hoping that Hogan Sheffer can pump some badly needed adrenaline into this show. As it goes know, I literally watch the show in 5 to ten minutes.
ITA!! My beloved Y&R has gotten so boring. I fast forward through about 80% of the shows these days. There is so much dead weight - David, Sabrina, Adam, Heather, Colleen, Adrian. There are no interesting storylines whatsoever. I'm surprised this show has been able to maintain #1 status in the ratings. Something has to be done soon, or I'm going to give it up altogether.
With Sabrina being pregant. has there been any mention of Victor's vasectomy? did he have it reversed- or was it just a botched job? Victor's vasectomy was the focal point of a couple major storylines on the show and if it is not addressed here, that is really pathetic.

However, the show has been really enjoyable lately. Melody and Jess are incredible.
Its been a while, but I finally see movement in storylines. Thank God! and today was particularly good with the reveal of Ji Mins killer. Nelson recently said in a podcast that the show was about to get red hot. I hope we're seeing the beginning stages of whats been a really boring drought.
Raise your hand if you SQUEEEEEEEED when Jill mentioned a takeover? I cannot fricking wait for this storyline to develop. I hope it's better than OLTL's version, and goes back to the Newman takeover from 1998.

better yet, the Newman takeover of Jabot in 1989 when Terry Lester was still playing the part of Jack. FAB-U-LOUS!!!!!!!!
It really was good. Jack and his sidekick Leanna had just written and published, "Ruthless: The story of Victor Newman". At the same time, Jack convinced his dad to take the company public and not keep it a privately held company anymore. What he didn't know was Victor was secretly buying all the stock (similar to what Jeffrey and Gloria want to do now). Just when Jack realizes something bad happened (he's just been informed that the multiple companies the have been purchasing stock are all owned by the same person AND that person now ownes 51% of Jabots stock) Victor walks in. It ends with Victor telling Jack what he did and proclaiming "Now you can call me Ruthless, you devious bastard". It was so wonderful. I wish youtube had the clip.

This is setting up to be one great storyline with Jeffrey/Gloria and Jill/Brad setting up to take control of Jabot.
How great would it be the Jabot stock keeps getting bought out, then all the major players are in the room....Jeffrey/Gloria think they have control...Brad/Jill think they are going to sieze control, when in walks the person who secretly bought it all back.......
Ashley Abbott.
This would return Jabot to the Abbott family and bring Eileen Davidson back where she belongs.
OR....
Have Ashley find out Gloria tainted the Jabot cream, then tell her that if she doesn't sign over all of her stock to her, she will turn her and Jeff into the police.
Tell me that won't make for a classic "Bill Bell style" episode. Let the fireworks begin!

Either one of those scenarios would be more than fine with me, although I'd prefer the one where Ashley finds out about the tainted cream. When that reveal FINALLY happens, if Eileen Davidson isn't a part of it, it won't be complete.

1)Despite magazine sales being down across the board, Restless Style seems to have defied the odds, all on the basis of one article. Who knew.
2)Paul Williams business has taken a huge hit. He apparently no longer has an office and has to conduct his business anywhere he can find an open table. Lets hope no one is in ear shot of all this private and privileged information.
3)All actors involved in conversations about Victor and Sabrina's baby are reacting like pros inspite of how screwy it all is.
4)Daniel and Amber calling into a radio love line was pretty darn entertaining.
5)Summer Newman grew quite a bit in the past few weeks.
6)Chloe is drinking and running into people on the night she spills the beans that shes pregnant from a romp that happened just a few days ago. Riiiiight!
7)There are really only two events that changed Y&R forever. 1980: Bill Bell decides to cycle out his two core families for two new ones. 2006: Everyone involved with the ongoing success of Y&R is fired in favor of new blood who know nothing about the show. Repercussions are still felt today.
8)My confidence that Y&R is going back to its old self is like being on a see saw. Somedays I'm elated, somedays I'm still hitting that FW button. But I will continue to watch with rose colored glasses on.

Well they have set everything up for today's Sudden Impact episode. We'll see if Sheffer and Co. really deliver, cuz, for me, the show is still a snoozefest to date, albeit, slightly improved.
I bet Sheffer will kill "Restless Style" in a few months. There is more intrigue when the action takes place at Jabot and Newman.
Chloe is just an annoying character who has no business being on the storyline canvas. And i thought the same thing about her drinking. What kind of message are the writers conveying when they have a pregnant woman drinking.
To top that off, they are killing off a pregnant Sabrina. WTF?? Do the writers work for an abortion clinic??
And whoever is doing hair and makeup and wardrobe on Y&R needs to be fired. With the exception of Sabrina and Brad, the characters are looking a mess on this show right now.
Katherine (Emmy winner Granny Cooper), is wearing moo moo's to the Gala (Cooper wore one at the Emmys, too). The rest of the women could use some powder on their faces because they look like they just ran the Boston Marathon and then taped their scenes.
Sharon Case needs a comb, as does Ameila Heinle.
That said, i see a noticable change in the show over the last 2 weeks, so Hogan is starting out with a bang.
