Thanks MARKPGH. Unfortunately, I will be on the road today so I won't see the Sudden Impact episodes til next Wednesday. Hope its all its been touted to be.
OK, just watched the much hyped, "Sudden Impact" eppy. While it was good, i really can't say i was left breathless~~~~~~~~~~~~
So it looked like the limo driver was in on this whole plot...probably hired by Walter to get rid of David. I wonder why the driver said "he had them both.""??? He called Sabrina by Mrs Newman, so he knew she wasn't Nikki...
Also, Sabrina asked David for a ride because she said "he was going that way anyway."
WTF?? David is staying at the Athletic Club downtown and the Newman Ranch is way out in the country.....the writers could have come up with a better excuse than that!
Anyway....best part of the eppy was Amber telling Phyllis she hopes sh'es not as mean and vindictive when she gets to be her age.....LMAO

I agree. I can't even say that it was that good of an episode. There may be too much Sheffer hype, especially considering his disappointing stint on DAYS. Y&R certainly did not blow me away on Friday.
Fridays was fine. Mondays bothered me a little. First, why the hell was Sabrina in full makeup? she was covered in blood but somehow when they washed her off in ICU her lipgloss and eyeshadow stayed pristine. PEWK! People, we are a more communicative audience, details matter!!! Also, the episode moved too quick. Nikki was shaking and being worked on in one scene and 5 minutes later was fine, talking, and accepting visitors. David died off camera. Its like LML was writing all over again. On the flip side, the acting was good, but since I couldn't stop shaking my head everytime they showed Sabrina...in FULL make-up, and discussing a baby she can't medically be carrying, I didn't get drawn in.
I have to wonder, are we just a more nit-picky audience or do the soaps consistently not live up to their hype? I know its only day one, but so far, i'm not blown away. The more I think about it the more I have to face the fact that amazing soaps are a thing of the past. Now we just have to settle for things being descent.
Fridays episode B+ Mondays episode B-

I was thinking the same thing about Sabrina, TYATR Fan....
She looked better in the hospital bed that most did at the gala. And it still doesn't make sense to me why she was in the car with David, who lives no where near the Newman Ranch, who hates Victor, and who was in such a hurry to find his wife so he could off her.
I was distracted by the makeup thing, too. The woman was just in a severe car accident that is about ready to cut her life short, and through that and transport to the hospital, she has not one scratch on her face, not a smudge in her makeup, and not one hair out of place???
I am curious as to where this is going. If the ultimate goal is to reunite Victor and Nikki, then it would make sense for Sabrina to be revealed as a liar, that she was further along in her pregnancy than she admitted, which would clear up the vasectomy business. Plus, that would allow Victor and Nikki to comiserate how they both rushed into marriages with duplicitous people. On the other hand, if the goal is to send Victor on the warpath, then I would think there won't be any huge Sabrina revelations. What does everyone else think?

Even if Sabrina was further along, Victor would have still known the baby wasn't his.....I'm shocked that Eric Braeden, as vocal as he is about his role and the show, would have not stepped in right away and told the writers...."this story can't happen because Victor had a vasectomy."
And what kills me is Katherine knows Victor had a vasectomy, and even she didn't flinch when it was revealed that Sabrina was pregnant.
This is just total disregard for the show's history and its characters.
As for reuniting Victor and Nikki, i don't see it happening right away. I think Victor will be on the warpath after Sabrina's death and Nikki will grow closer to Paul. Victor will turn on Paul and will grow to hate April even more since she is Paul's daughter, who is still dating Victor's son, Adam.
Also, this whole story will reignite the Jack/Victor feud. This is also the time to bring back Ashley so she can rekindle her love for Victor.
Classic Y&R!

Well, they addressed the vasectomy issue today, so it appears the writers aren't forgetting history.
BTW, if you thought the full on makeup for Sabrina was bad, you should've seen Meg on ATWT after she was shot and went through surgery. All made up, hair perfect and pain free. Ridiculous. Do the people behind these shows think the audience is stupid and not paying attention?
Okay, Lindsay, are you forgetting that I was a professional twice over— an analyst and a therapist. The world’s first analrapist.
Hey MARKPGH, i just read on CBS forums that Victors vasectomy is about to be explained. Apparently he had it reversed years ago and confided in Katherine that he did it. THis comes up in a apparent conversation Nikki and Katherine have this week. (NOTE: BuffyMars beat me too it.)
Neither a clever or witty way out of this mess but at least they are addressing it. One more sidenote, isn't Sabrina going to be the most gorgeous woman to ever die in a hospital bed? At least the shiny lip gloss was off today, but those pristine eyelids are still untouched. I have a hard time buying the injuries she has when shes presented that good. At least they had the good sense to take Nikkis makeup off.
I wish they had gone back and looked at the tapes when Matt Clark was dying after he'd been in a car accident. That makeup job was so well done and added a level of realism these scenes are missing.

I think it would be foolish for the writers not to take advantage of the burgeoning feud between Jill and Nikki.
Now that Jill knows it was David who killed Ji-Min, it only heats up the feud. Both women want custody of the title "Head B*tch in Charge" at Jabot. I say that the writers take two of this show's tentpole characters and build an exciting feud for viewers to watch.
It's odd to me that the historic characters are the most interesting to me. This is the only soap I watch and I've only been a viewer for nearly 2 years. I don't find the younger characters as interesting as the older ones (and I am a teenager). I say heat up the Jill/Nikki feud. It's the only thing I can REALLY look forward to on the show right now.
So I've decided to get over the vasectomy thing. Even with the the lame way it was addressed, its clear everyone just screwed up (Maria Bell, shame on you! That was a big one.). Perhaps less is more in this case. Over explaining it could make it worse.
That said, I do think, minus this gapping hole in that particular storyline, that the show is improving. I've decided to let the ramifications of this current arc play out and not jump to various conclusions on day to day basis. I see where they are going with this and if done correctly, the show could get really good.
The last thing I want is another change behind the scenes. I do think forums are read by higher ups and I think whats killing daytime (among other things) is the impulsive decisions that are being made when people get excited. My only hope is that Maria Bell does her homework better in the future. At this point its foolish to not respect history just so you can tell your story.

The new feud on this show should without a doubt be Nikki v.s. Jill.
