Very good today!!!

This is the first time in a long time, on any soap, all of the stories featured were compelling.

I re-echo the sentiment. I just finished watching the episode for the second time today. It really did work superbly on every level. More importantly, it planted several seeds of whats to come.

I must say folks, this time I really do believe we're getting our classic Y&R back.

Eric Braeden was on fire today...great, subtle performance.

The Nikki/David dream was well done, especially with Sabrina and her daughter sitting on Nikki's doorstep.

With Nikki having these dreams, Victor's contempt for her, and her loss of power at Jabot, i fear the writers are going to make Nikki turn to the bottle again.

I sure hope they don't go this route. Nikki has been through enough. I want to see Paul be there for her when Victor treats her like crap.

Melody has been sensational in this story.

As for the rest of the episode....it lagged a little.

I am so over the whole Restless Style 4some.
Here's hoping the magazine goes under!

My only fear is that David is not really dead, since we really never saw him die on screen.

If the writers go with that plot device, it's goodbye Y&R.

No more ghosts either!

I just started watching Y&R this week. I have to say it sucked me in pretty fast, the one thing I'm really curious about, why did Sabrina get in the car with David? It's driving me crazy!

she asked him for a ride because she was not feeling well and didn't want to wait for the car that Victor was sending to pick her up. It was on his way so he said he'd do it for her.

And that's how proposterous that scenario was since David was staying at the Athletic Club in town and Sabrina was living way out in the country at the Newman Ranch...

It's the little details the show misses that really makes you think about how much of a mess this show has become.

I'm just slightly confused by one thing, why is Adam so confident that he is the sole heir to Newman Enterprises? I thought Abby was also in the will right alongside him!?

And is there really no chance of reconciliation between Nick, Victoria, and Victor? I kind of get the feeling that following Sabrina's death he might be more likely to forgive.

Abby is a young'un, of course, so she doesn't factor into the whole who-controls-the-spice NE thing. And as for family reconciliation...never say never. That about sums it up.

Another killer performance today by EB and MTS. I love when Victor is hurting because he does not care who he takes down along the way. It makes for great TV.

Nice job by everyone involved.

I just watched! I have to agree, the acting was wonderful. It was an incredibly emotional day. Victor did a great job, but boy was he mean!

It just resonates with me how Nick and Victoria are still with Victor and seem genuinely concerned for his well being, despite knowing they were cast aside. I really do hope a reconciliation is in the cards, because I am not certain Adam deserves much of anything!

I think Skyes death will go down as one of the most gruesome deaths in daytime. I loved the shock factor of it.

I hope this casualty is a vehicle to re-introduce Brad into the equation. Given he rigged the poker game to have Skye win. I can't wait til Adam divulges that bit of information.

I love the possibilities thats coming out of the deaths of these relatively minor characters. Sudden Impact has been head and shoulders a far superior stunt storyline than Out of the Ashes ever was.

Another solid day in GC.

I have only been watching this show for two weeks & I am sooo hooked! I totally agree with TYATR, when they showed the cops putting plastic bags on the gurney I almost fell out of my seat!! I started watching because I heard Hogan was coming back (I knew this would be a better fit for him than Days) & it has really been bringing back memories of his heyday on ATWT. I loved the fact that yesterdays scenes in the coffee shop had, like, 8 or 9 actors working in them & they were moving around & interacting! I have missed that so much. It seems like there's a moritorium on having more than 4 people in a scene nowadays! Then todays episode was just terrific and the musical montage at the end was amazing. Niki dumping David Chow's ashes in the horse s h*t was classic! Thank you Y&R & Hogan, I hope this is the beginning of a long fruitful relationship!

Just wanted to chime in some love for Chris Engen - who has been one of the best additions to this show since Greg Rikkart's Kevin Fisher in 2003 and Judith Chapman's Gloria Fisher in 2005.

Amen! I love Engen. I never quite figured out why some out there didn't like him? He's so much like Victor...hardend, cold...it's going to make for some great sibling rivalry.

Next week on Y&R, they choose a new CEO for Jabot. I haven't read any spoilers on who it is, but it damn well better not be Gloria. I'm sick of Gloria getting away with everything and never spending more than 10 minutes on the downside of the story. The perfect choice would be Ashley, which would finally bring Eileen Davidson home full-time, where she belongs. Then Ashley could hire Paul and JT to find out who poisoned the cream, and it would finally lead to Gloria's downfall for that whole situation. Its time for this to happen, especially now that Y&R has a writing team that is doing it justice again.

I agree with the comment about Chris Engen. He is giving an amazingly subtle performance. We see traces of ruthless Victor, loyal Hope, an ambitious Harvard-educated snob -- he's lovable and hateable at the same time. And he makes it all work as an integrated person. Another example of Y&R's outstanding casting abilities.

Raya Meddine was also fantastic. She was a unique person on Y&R: genuinely intelligent, no trace of caricature in her portrayal. Sabrina was real and believable. I'd really like to know why she was killed off. I read a lot of negative things about her (especially when she first came on)on this website. Did the writers and producers pay too much attention to the public? Opinions?

I liked Raya too. The problem for me was how the storyline played out. First it was really rushed. In the beginning it was nice and kinda cute, then it jumped into the ick territory real quick. Of course, what I wasn't expecting(and I give props to Raya for this)was the emotional mess I became the week she died.

But back to your question, I think one of two things happened that led to her dismissal.
1) This was Maria Bells plan all along. This character was merely introduced as a catalyst to bring all Y&R's veteran characters front and center for a much bigger storyline.
2) Maria Bell screwed up big time by making Sabrina preggers. Fans pretty much want/ed MAB's head for this as it was a gapping flaw in the shows history. Getting rid of the character is like getting rid of the reminder of how badly they f'ed up.

Question:

Can the Fisher/Baldwin/Bardwell clan call themselves a core family?
