Other than that, I'm still loving all things Y&R. But, why oh why oh why is this girl on this show?
I can't be the only one who feels this way!
You're not! And the more I read stuff online the more apparent it's become this actress and her character are not a hit. I said it before and I will say it again, Maria Arena Bells clear weakness is new characters. Most of them just are not interesting. Not to mention her insistence on shoving them down our throats. Bill Bell NEVER did that. To make matters worse, she's bringing back the characters of Tyra and Ana. The prospect of these two bland characters hogging airtime along with River and Eden has me concerned that Y&R will morph back to the boredom it was pre Sudden Impact. I'm annoyed that MAB doesn't seem to GET when things are not working.
I can't stand the actress playing Eden. Her mouth freaks me out.
You know who I do love though? The actress playing Chloe. I want to see her nominated come Emmy time. There was an episode a while back where Cane/Jill/etc were confronting her about the baby and she talks about it kicking. She was dynamite - and she puts all of the other younger actors on the show to shame, IMO.
And I really want Lily to just punch someone already. She's too depressing. Needs someone to sock. It could be any number of people.
Ok, I officially hate Eden more than Ana. The prospect of an episode showcasing Ana singing and Eden flipping out has me extremely nervous.
Pre LML, Y&R had arguably the best cast in daytime. However, with bad recasts during LML's reign and skeptical casting this year, Y&R can no longer claim this distinction.
I feel bad for ragging on these actors, but enough is enough. The young actress playing Eden could quite possibly be the worst actress I've ever seen on the show in my 22 years watching. Every scene she's in has me cringing. Poor thing, but she needs an acting coach STAT!
I've noticed that when the actress who plays Eden is doing lighter stuff, like those party scenes, she's quite effective and much better. It's the dramatic stuff she sucks at. Either recast, write the character off, or use the character in moderation, I say.
Paul Rauch has definitely done wonders with the shows production. I've noticed more traditional close-up shows, tighter direction, more alert acting, and better overall production since Rauch first shows up in the credits last Friday.
Billy Miller is just rocking as Billy Abbott. He works so well with Peter Bergman, I can totally see them as brothers.
Y&R's new casting director was first listed in the credits today. I definitely see her casting much better people, as she originally trained under Mark Teschner at GH, who is the best casting director in all of daytime.

This guy is awesome. He jumped right into this role and mde it his own. All eyes are on him in a scene. His scenes with Liz Hendrickson make me like Chloe a little bit more (gasp!) Did i say that??
I haven't seen Y&R this weeek, but last week I really liked Eden. Her continuing sneer was effective. As for her dramatic scenes, she was very effective in the jail scene when she thought River was going back to Michigan. Very positive beginning, IMO. Billy Abbott is indeed awesome. He's great with everyone. Overall, Y&R's cast is tops. To me the exceptions are: Christel Khalil (wimpy, no charisma, doesn't click with anyone) and nuNoah (should go quickly; he doesn't have that Newman thing.)
its nice to see bitchy phyllis back. how long has it been? and i am starting to see more variety again, what i was wanting. but i really am not liking how kevin has to kiss his mothers behind still. cant the writers go in a different direction with kevin away from his mother. i really believe jc and even emily o'brien(who i have lost credibility for with the whole tarrot card crap and quije board) are bringing down greg rikaart, and can some of these female characters that are too girly just leave? i agree billy miller is a find, but we'll see if y&r will snub greg rikaart or kristoff st.john for him in the pre-noms when michael graziadei has been snubbed the last two years.
When poor Tracey Bregman uttered the lines "Now I have to go talk to a girl who thinks her father is never coming home" on Tues' show...the look on her face was priceless. Imagine the horror of having to share the screen w/exasperating Eden when you've just done work with a cell phone.
What on earth did TB do to anyone to deserve turning Lauren into a sock puppet? I'm ready for Laurens revenge!

Me, too! Both Tracey Bregman and Lauren are better than the wallpaper act they've had her doing lately. Just because she's married to Michael does not mean she should have to do nothing other than deal with his and his family's crap.
This is just another example of how the revolving door of writers have ruined the character of Lauren over the years.
She is now meak and lifeless. The old Lauren was nobody's bitch and would do whatever the hell she wanted. She was Y&R's resident bad girl and femme fatale.
Tracey Bregman deserves better than this. But this show is hell bent on making Christian LeBlanc's Michael the head of that household.
For once, i want to see Lauren get the upper hand in that relationship. Have Lauren finally get fed up with Michael's shenanigans and underhanded ways, and have her hop into bed with Brad, Cane or even Paul for that matter.
I would also love to see the return of Scotty, a character Y&R could very well make gay, because i was picking up a vibe from him when he was involved in the Sheila storyline...and the actor who played him was very good...and looked so much like his on screen dad, Peter Barton.

Lauren and Kevin Fisher need to get their edge back. I always thought a Lauren/Kevin hook up would be hot - considering Kevin had the hots for Lauren to the point that he tried to kill himself because of her.
A Lauren/Kevin affair would kill two birds with one stone: * Make Lauren, Kevin and Michael interesting again * Get rid of that boring Jana (I like Emily O'Brien, but Jana is a useless waste of space)
I agree TYATR Fan, i am fast fowarding through all the River/Gloria/Michael/Eden stuff, as well as Amber and Daniel and Kevin/Jana and the whole Cane/Chloe/Lily crap.
Right now, the show is a mess again. Even this whole "looking for Victor" fiasco is a total joke and waste of airspace.
The only story right now i am interested in is the reconnection of Nick and Sharon and Katherine's drinking. The rest of the show is unwatchable.
At least Ashley's return and the Parris remote is something to look foward too.
I just hope Noah pushes that mouse-like bitch Eden off of the Eifel Tower while they are there.
The show right now is in a holding pattern until November sweeps. Eric Braeden is on vacation, so we have this "Where is Victor" storyline in his place, and they're building up with the Paris storyline and the Katherine/Marge storyline.
Eden, Tyra, Ana, and Gloria are torture, but other than that, the show is OK. It's definitely headed somewhere come November sweeps.

And thats exactly the problem I'm sort of having with the show right now. It was ALREADY going somewhere when the Sudden Impact diaster happened. Then Ana/Tyra/Eden/Lowell took over the show and it's back to where it was pre Impact. Dull!
This is not the way to produce a good soap. It shouldn't be stop and go and stop and go. So what, after November is the show going to hibernate itself again till the next BIG event? Come on Bell and Co. when you hit the gas peddle, don't take your foot off it.
Tracey Bregman definitely needs to get better writing but the idea that she would have an affair with doofus Cane or scheming Brad at this point in her life is ridiculous. Sure she was a scheming hell raiser twenty years ago, but that was twenty years ago. This character has evolved and the sure way to destroy her character is to have her cheat on a husband who adores her and destroy a family we have been told for years she covets. It would make no sense character or story wise.
I think Lauren and Michael are a rootable pair. Great chemistry with very good actors. Lauren has ties with nearly everyone on ths show. Put some emphasis on her as CEO of her company, maybe facing tough times with her stores due to the bad economy. Have her deal with some conflicts with Michael. Real conflicts married couples face without turning to the typical affair. Michael is so high strung have him have a health crisis where she finally puts her foot down with his non stop work habits and being at everyones beck and call. Have her deal with Scotty coming back who is jealous of her relationship with Fen, something he never had.
There are so many ways to go without making Lauren an idiot by having her have an affair with dumb Cane or slimy Brad. Besides Lauren and Michael are one of the few couples that most of the audience like as a couple and their scenes with Fen are adorable. They just need to give her some of her edge back and some of her life back other than being a wife and mother.
I don't think it would necessarily be ridiculous for Lauren to have an affair with Cane (or Brad), and it wouldn't make her an idiot necessarily. It would all depend on the writing. But the first step is definitely giving her more of an existence outside of Michael and Fenn, and Gloria, Kevin, and Eden.
