there are some things i'm noticing that i dont like. the new characters are terrible. and its rediculous to write kevin, amber, and daniel as teenagers. frantz is almost 30. and in real life greg rikaart is 31. they are too old to be playing this childish crap.

what happened to micheal and lauren spending time with nick and phyllis? oh no, its j.t. and victoria instead. and their baby has replaced fen in bonding with summer. also, the writers seemed to have forgotten about stafford and leblanc's chemistry. oh wait they dont remember, because they weren't writing then.

billy miller is okay now, but down the road people will get sick of his acting when he won't be able to show a dramatic performance. i feel like he is over doing it a little, but is nothing compared to david tom. why dont they bring on peyton list or someone as a recast mac.

and micheal graziadei today in his whatever costume of axel rose or bret michael acted like dana carvey's garth from wayne's world and really showed a lot of girly signals, especially that one scene with kevin and amber where he has his hands curved slightly and the way he laughed. does he have a girlfriend in real life? i dont know if that was his or the show's choices of his get-up.

I miss Phyllis and Micheal friendship that was a friendship without borders, I cannot believe the writers have let that gold mine slipped through their fingers, dumb, dumb

Does anyone know if Ashley Bashioum is coming back as McKenzie Browning - for Katherine's "funeral"? I think it makes sense for Mac to come back even if it's just for an episode or two. Would be interesting to see her interact with the new playboy Billy.

survivorkylie, no, Ashley Bashioum isn't coming back to Katherine's "Funeral". At least, I haven't read anywhere that she is. I know that many others are coming back but it is very awkward that she isn't coming back for this episode.

As far as this "Funeral" is concerned, are TIIC really killing off Katherine? It wouldn't surprise me at this point, Heck, they did it to John Abbott.

okay...regarding Jeanne Cooper:

I think she's doing nice work, however, after all these years in the industry, I don't think it's anything THAT phenomanal.

She's turned in many good performances through the years when the the writers remembered to write for her! But, THUS FAR, I haven't seen anything grand slam Emmy worthy. IMO her work with a phone, while on the phone with a drunk Nikki in Mexico, was much better than anything I've seen Kay/Marge wise. JMO!

Good show today. Even Adam and his D.A. girlfriend were not annoying. Seeing Nikki and Ashley in a scene together was great. The quality of the writing has improved THIS much and I can't wait to get to Paris.

I still think she's kicking ass. Her work is not as showy as she normally tends to be, which is why some might not realize the brilliance within her performance. It's her mannerisms, her voice, and her struggle to keep her character's psyche intact. It's some of the best work I've seen her do. I was skeptical of the Marge/Kay stuff, but currently I'm mesmerized by the differences, and a lot of that has to do with the production side as well.

What luck for rulers that men do not think.

I have to agree with MTSRocks, Granny Cooper is kicking the dentures out of this story. I love it!

I was ****ed at Cooper last year for submitting herself in Lead for work that was clearly Supporting, at best.

However, this year, Cooper (along with Melody Thomas Scott), have been, by far, the 2 best actresses on Y&R and richly deserve their Lead Actress pre-nom (especially Scott, who, IMO, was royally screwed last year by being overlooked).

Kudos to the writing, and especially the directing in these Katherine/Marge scenes. They have been very well done. Props also to the editing team of Y&R, because, when watching these Marge/Kay scenes, you would swear that Cooper actually has a twin and BOTH are in the same frame. Very well done!

Cooper is one of the very best at acting with her facial expressions and body movements. Today's episode was living proof of that as Katherine paid Marge a visit to Murphy's trailer. Cooper nailed those scenes.

So my hat's off to Granny this year. She is rocking her 80 year old ass big time in this story!

Not only is the Marge/Kay stuff great so far, but I also think that Cooper has been doing some really solid work opposite Jess Walton as Katherine struggles with her memory lapses. Very subtle and realistic. For the first time in awhile, I won't have a problem with Cooper submitting herself as Lead for her 2008 work. At this point, I would call her a strong contender for a repeat victory.

I cannot tell a lie I am not a Nick and Sharon fan and never will be, that said, what the heck is happening in Paris, first I see the previews and it has Sharon telling Nick she has never been to Paris, are you kidding, I have been watching for 32 years and in 2006 when the affair came out she jetted to Paris with Noah, I remember her coming back and talking about it, fast foward 2 years later and the writers have missed this tidbit, how am I suppose to suspend belief when it is all a lie.

The other thing, why is Sharon over the top and giddy, dial it down a bit, might be more interesting. All that highschool giddyness is scaring me

It is apparent Bill Bell is not writing this show. There have been many inconsistencies on this show lately.

For instance, one day, Kevin and Jana are so blissfully happy with their life, and then the next day, Kevin is depressed and worried that Jana will leave him. Then, he's worrying about their financial future.

WTF????

Are the writers forgetting Kevin won the lottery a few years back?? And now, all of a sudden, he's worrrying about trying to make ends meet?

Get with it Y&R!!!

Bill Bell must be turning over in his grave!

^^^All that has already been mentioned. I think its true to life that once the honey moon is over, the reality sinks it, and its not always pretty. Plus, can you really blame Kevin. He's in his late 20's and owning some dinky boring coffee shop? Not very exciting.

Kevin's also mentioned like a million times that the coffee shop isn't doing the type of business it used to do and he's had to pour more money into it than it's making. Kevin's been talking about his money problems for a month or more now.

this show is finally coming to life and the show had the right emphasis this week with showing ashley, nikki, nick, sharon, phyllis, kay, jill, and kevin. these are the characters the show should be focusing on. they bring the best to the table than anyone else on the show, except for eric braaden and christian leblanc. oh, i forgot to include tracy bregman.

the good thing is seeing how this victor stuff could stand out without the presence of victoria. nikki has been more watchable in katherine's story than in any of her scenes with victoria. based on other spoilers i read it appears to be little sign of any victoria coming up and there is nothing mentioning j.t. share the wealth.

My only true disappointment lately is that they didn't keep Marge on the canvas longer. I liked the Marge character the first time around and this time even more. Its a shame too, considering the horrible newbies the show is shoving down our throats.

Jess Walton is absolutely amazing! That women knows when to be subtle and she knows when to let the tears flow.

I've just been catching up on the show after being away for a month. Wow wow wow.

The Paris remote has been amazing.

I'm so glad Kevin has his bite back.

The Katherine death has been well executed. This is pure soap.

It's so nice to see Tricia Cast back as Nina and girl looks fine with all that weight loss. She has not aged A BIT! I hope they bring her back pronto.

I LOVED all the nods to history from Larry Warton to Dina's "I hope it's not because of me" comment when Ashley didn't sit with Jack and Dina.

Victor's dramatic entrance to the funeral was pure soap opera moment.

And give Jeanne Cooper another Lead Actress Emmy nod pronto. Only on Y&R does an actress over 40 get storyline and respect.

AND AND AND AND AND they FINALLY updated the opening credits. Well, sort of. They re-added Neil (new Neil video) and Devon. I hope this means there are more updates to come.

Y&R IS BACK BABY. I am SO HAPPY.

I wish I could share all the enthusiasm. The show is certainly making positive strides, but Friday's episode left me cold. They made a huge mistake in having Amber wear dark glasses because she looked like she was in a spy movie. It was extremely distracting. Marge narrating the funeral did not do much for me either. They missed a golden opportunity by not having a "MY God, it's my funeral" moment. I also thought Braeden's entrance was just too over the top. It was thrilling though to see Cast and Adams and I am always for umbrella events. I just wish this one had been better written.

I thought the Marge narratng the funeral thing was rather funny. It only worked because it was Marge. If it was Katherine who really died and narrating, it wouldn't have worked.

LOL about Amber. I think the only reason the writers gave her the glasses is because she's a bad actress and it would spare the audience from an over the top crying scene. :-)

I don't think Braeden's scene was over the top at all. It was short, to the point and the reactions from everyone was just priceless. And soaps - especially the Friday cliffhanger moments - are supposed to have a touch of over the top, would you not agree?

I really wish they bring back Tricia Cast full time. Pair her up with Peter Bergman's Jack maybe - who just raved about her when she was on the show years ago and advocated for a Jack/Nina pairing, if I recalled correctly.

I'm also glad they referenced Cricket. Ahh the good ol' days.

How come Michael/Lauren weren't at the funeral? I found that a bit weird.

Quite like this explanation. Frantz was extremely distracting. I kept waiting for her to run off with a bag of money. A really silly costuming choice.

It's not the content I minded, but how it was staged. It was if the director said, "Eric, put a mean look on your face and then walk down the aisle as if you have a board up your A S S."

It would be great to have Cast back. I'd like to see her pair up with Cane as it would bring up a whole lot of issues. Of course, I think I'm one of the few on here who wants Cane to remain a Chancellor.

Bregman needed a rest from having to share scenes with the actress who played Eden. I hope Bregman got hazard pay.
