The Young and The Restless January 5, 2009 Supporting Actor-Billy Miller
I thought Miller was really good in that scene with Khalil near the end.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

As the World Turns - 1/6 Best Actress - Elizabeth Hubbard as Lucinda Walsh
Jade retaliates to a snide Lucinda by telling Lucinda that her husband is gay. Lucinda confronts Brian about these allegations and he admits to kissing her grandson Luke and having feelings for him. An agonize Lucinda kickes Brian out of Lily's house. A sobbing Lucinda gets comforted by Lily.
Elizabeth Hubbard was just outstanding and rivetting in this episode. As her heart broke, ours did too as we all anxiously anticipated for this moment to happen. Hubbard showed her range from outright anger to despair of the truth. I really wished that Hubbard would be acknowledged by NATAS with her longtime stellar work for ATWT. She is deserving.

Best Supporting Actress-Renee Jones Best Supporting Actor-Joseph Mascolo
Theo gets hurt and is taken to the hospital. Jones and Mascolo were really good.I wish Reckell had more to do because he starts off the episode with a vision and was good but I think his role was too small to cite.
The Young and The Restless January 8, 2009 Best Supporting Actress-Sharon Case
Case seemed really mature and forceful when she demanded a divorce. Good writing and acting.

Florencia Lozano as Tea Delgado Supporting Actress
Viki ask Tea how she can forgive and help Todd so easily. Tea responds by asking Viki how she can abandon Todd, then she tells Viki how Todd tried to kill himself the previous night. Viki is still angry with Todd, but says she can't imagine the thought of him going through this alone.
Blair comes to Todd's house and tries to get through to him. Todd tells her he wanted to die for Marty. Blair tells him to accept his past and move on and get back to being the man and father she knows he can be.
There was some great stuff in this episode. Nothing too flashy, but some good honest performances, especially from DePaiva, who I thought really made it work. St. John continues to bring his A game. The Tea/Viki scenes were nice, and I thought Slezak played the conflict between hating and loving Todd very well. Lozano was good trying as Tea tried to convice Viki to help Todd. Good stuff all around.

A superbly written and acted episode as Stephanie goes head to head with Rick, still blaming him for Phoebe's death. Not backing down, Rick shot back and let the Forrester matriarch have it, even firing her in the process.
The script was on fire and Kyle Lowder has never been better in this role as he went head to head with daytimes Best Actress and dare i say, stole the scene from her (and that is no easy task).
But to me, it was John McCook's Eric that stole this whole episode as Eric played the worried designer and loving husband one minute and then went ballistic on his ex-wife for her hateful words towards his son and their beloved company.
Even Stephanie looked scared of Eric as the Forrester patriarch flew his designs across the room and took control of the situation by telling his ex and his son that one of them has got to go...and HE will decide who it is.
McCook has always been one of daytime's most underrated actors, but this performance today is proof why he should be right up there with the heavy hitters of daytime.
All of the show's best performers combined with some supreme storytelling and excellent dialogue resulted in the best show of this series in many months.
FYC: "Up" for Best Picture and Kathryn Bigelow for Best Director
Nicole lashes out at Brady for not helping her the way she wanted, to pretend to be her fiancee, he defends himself claiming to try to save her from being her own worst enemy, and eventually gives up on her and tells her he's done.

McCook rocks!
Line of the week:
Stephanie to Rick: "Honey, I had more authority in the 2nd grade than you'll ever have on your best day. Start packing, baby boy." LOL! Don't get into a war of words with Stephanie because she'll cut you off at the knees before you know it.

Supporting Actor Bradford Anderson, Younger Actress Kirsten Storms, GENERAL HOSPITAL.
The usual comic relief and critically acclaimed BFF "Spixie" were definitely not fun and games today. After a session of lovemaking in which Spinelli thought Maxie finally realized she loved him, Spin recognized that Maxie reverted back to old ways. She had used her body to distract him from a girl she didn't trust.
Maxie's intention's were right, but she went about it all wrong. They didn't yell, but the looks on their faces and the seething anger and tearful barbs said it all. When you know someone too well, you can hurt them more than anyone else, and the blows came hard and fast.
Spin left and Maxie wept. Excellent scenes by exceptional actors who aren't used to their full potential, IMO.
Writer of the brilliant dialogue was Michelle Val Jean.

Absolutely agree. The episode was a great showcase for these two terrific actors who work wonderfully together. It was tricky emotional terrain for both of them and they navigated it beautifully.

I have to agree, also. This was my favorite performance from Anderson since he's joined the show and Storms nailed as well.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009 Days of our Lives Best Supporting Actor Joseph Mascolo - Stefano DiMera
Lexie, Stefano, and company continue to worry about Theo, and Lexie tells Stefano she doesn't want Theo anywhere near him. Later, everyone is relieved when Theo survives surgery.
It's really a wonderful revelation to see Mascolo playing Stefano as the concerned grandpapa. His grandfatherly behavior is so spot on, and the hurt he showed when Lexie said she wanted him to stay away from Theo was excellent.
Best Actress - Michelle Strafford as Phyllis Newman
As Brad tells the truth about Phyllis' involvement in destroying Sharon/Jack's marriage, Phyllis pleads her case why she did it. She screams at Jack that since Sharon and Nick have becoming close after they kissed each other in Paris, Jack needed to get his marriage together with Sharon.
Michelle Strafford was so awesome in this episode. She carefully balances her vulnerability and her anger towards Jack. I found it to be phenominal that she showed her range so effortlessly. Michelle, mark this tape!
