Thursday, November 12, 2009 Days of our Lives Best Drama Series Best Writing Best Directing Best Actress Alison Sweeney - Sami Brady
Rafe explains to Sami how Sydney and Grace were switched at birth. Sami struggles to accept that Sydney, not Grace, is the child she gave birth to. Nicole freaks out when she can't find Sydney. Kate is questioned about Stefano. Mia and Maggie have a heart-to-heart. Bo and Hope work toward reconnecting. Carly, determined to accomplish some mysterious goal before leaving Salem, encounters Mia on the pier.
This was a great episode where you got to see glimpses of a few different things happening, but mostly had a focus on the scenes of Rafe explaining everything to Sami and then the different affected parties (Nicole, EJ, Mia, Sydney). The way Sami was written and played, with her first being devastated by the idea that Grace wasn't her child before she can even process the news that Sydney is hers, was fantastic.
Alison Sweeney as Sami Brady Arianne Zuker as Nicole Dimera
Supporting Actress: Nadia Bjorlin as Chloe Lane ( Horton ? )
Sami Confronts Nicole and has it ou with her for what she's done. Nicole tries to defend herself and find every possible way to make what she did sound like it was only for the right reasons. Bjorlin actually did somewhat well in this episode, trying to keep the baby away from rafe, then complete guilt over feeling responsible for everything that Nicole has done, and later urges EJ to go and seek out the truth.

I'm going to add a Best Drama Series mention for the episode as well. The rest of the episode was fine, with Mia becoming involved in the Carly/Vivian storyline and Brady trying to help Arianna with her drug dealing problems, but the Sami/Nicole scenes were just spectacular. The Rafe/Chloe/Daniel scenes were also surprisingly good. Nadia Bjorlin was very effective, which I totally didn't expect. The verbal sparring between EJ and Kate was also really enjoyable.
Noah confronts Luke about turning evidence of Mason's advances towards him (via Damian) to the Dean, causing Mason to be fired and Noah without an advisor to finished his senior project.
For the first time in a LONG time, Silbermann actually outshines his frequent scene partner. Conveying both the frustration Noah feels regarding Luke's lack of trust and the hurriedness to finish his film before it gets shut down to a perfect balance, Silbermann makes it known that Noah's world is caving in in a hurry- all before a fireworks-filled accident.

Sidenote: Silbermann turned 26 midway through this calendar year, so I'm not sure which category he belongs in.
He's now in the Supporting category. Damn! He was great in that scene. But he's in a tougher category now.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 Days of our Lives Best Drama Series Best Lead Actress Arianne Zucker - Nicole DiMera
Rafe brings Sydney back to Sami and they share a bittersweet reunion thinking of Grace. Nicole is devastated realizing she's lost Sydney, and confesses her crimes to a furious EJ before being arrested. Mia overhears Chloe say that Sydney is Sami's baby, not hers. Bo worries that Carly is being targeted becomes even more determined to protect her. Hope is upset that Justin tells her about the charges against Carly being dropped before Bo does. Vivian goes to see Carly.
A really good episode with a good ending. Arianne Zucker's performance was exceptional. It was breathtaking.
See, i watched these eppys and to me, the scenes fell flat...as did most of the performances.
I love Ali Sweeney, and she started out great in her scenes with Zucker...but she couldn't maintain that high caliber performance throughout these episodes. Ditto for Zucker. But i have to cut her some slack because of her pregnancy. I have a feeling if Ariane wasn't preggers, she could have really went for it in these scenes with Sweeney.
James Scott, though, has been brilliant. Nice to see a hot looking guy on daytime who can actually ACT.
As the World Turns Outstanding Supporting Actor: Jake Silbermann Noah discovers that he is blind while recovering from his brain surgery. Realizing that life as he knows it is potentially over, he mourns the loss of his sight and lashes out in his attempt to place blame.
I have watched the entire Luke and Noah story line, and in my opinion, this is some of Jake's best work to date. Although some may find the story silly due to its adoption subplot, the emotions portrayed by Jake Silbermann and Van Hansis have been palpable. Having lived with a physical disability my entire life, I can honestly say that, for me, the acting was spot on. Of particular note was the line, "I am not helpless!" This declaration is such on honest reflection of how someone with physical challenges can sometimes feel. Kudos on a heartbreaking performance!

I am very happy to hear that Jake is developing as an actor.
Thursday, November 19, 2009 Days of our Lives Best Younger Actress Taylor Spreitler - Mia McCormick
Mia comes to the jail to confront Nicole about the baby switch. Mia lashes out when Nicole continues to try to get her help and then tries to justify her actions rather than apologizing for them. Nicole tells Mia she should be thankful for the support Nicole gave her during her pregnancy, but ultimately Mia says she hopes Nicole burns in hell.
Taylor was definitely awake for this performance. The first half of the episode or so, when Mia is mostly crying and shouting, was pretty good, but I think she really excelled during the second half of the episode, when Mia calmed down and had some more complex reactions that just anguish.
Have not done this in awhile lol ------------------------------------------- 11.20.09 Outstanding Suopporting Actress In A Drama Series Florencia Lozano as Tea Dalgado, One Life to Live (ABC)
Tea tells Ross that Dani is not his daughter.

Monday Nov 23,2009 "The Bold and the Beautiful" OUTSTANDING DAYTIME DRAMA SERIES OUTSTANDING WRITING OUTSTANDING DIRECTING
Susan Flannery LEAD ACTRESS Alley Mills OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS Betty White OUTSTANDING GUEST PERFORMER
Brad Bell did it again.....He gave us a heart wrenching episode that tugged at our heartstrings as Ann died in the arms of her daughters...in a very "Beaches" like scene.
The final clip of Ann walking down the pier in her red dress was one of B&B's most beautiful scenes.
Brad can pull off another Emmy win with these episodes. And Betty White, even in her 80's...can still deliver the goods.
