Starr watches as Todd goes to Hope's grave and apologizes for his schemes and says that is what causes her death. Starr comes up to Todd and tells him that despite all the terrible things he's done, its still hard to hate him. Todd tells her that if its the last thing he does, he will be the father that is worthy of her love
Excellent episode for both St. John and Alderson.

Best Actress - Michelle Strafford as Phyllis Newman (but for how long? LOL!)
Nick confronts Phyllis in her role of destroying Jack/Sharon's relationship by involving Brad. Phyllis defends herself by saying how incredibly insecure she is about Nick's relationship with Sharon. Phyllis mocks Sharon as being the "sweet one" and she's "the bitch".
If Michelle Strafford wanted to submit her name for next years' Emmys, she can already do it and solidify her place as a solid nominee and possible winner already. She has the back to back entry reels that will make voters totally admire her work. In todays episode, her insecurities and outright anger were woven so brilliantly. It was simply another superb performance by Michelle.

Beth Rains reals in pain as she has to decide between Coop & Alan. She reals in peril as she tells Lillian she refuses to wear the Scarlett A on her chest, reminds Lillian of her own indiscretions, and tells her she needs her mother...just as her own daughter oversees her mother in a liplock with her ex-fiance, Coop.
January 15, 2009 Beth Chamberlin (Beth Rains) - Supporting Actress Gina Tognoni (Dinah Marler) - Supporting Actress Jeff Branson (Shayne Lewis) - Supporting Actor
Beth tries to explain to Lizzie the kiss that she saw with Coop. The 14th & 15th tapes would make a nice 1-2 punch for Chamberlin.
Shayne tells Reva, Josh, Jeffery, and Dinah about Lara's death. Later he reveals more of the truth to Dinah and he walks for the first time since returning to town. Tognoni & Branson are so hot together it's kind of ridiculous how well it works. 2 good actors, with good material!

i'm sorry i have to chime in here, i find nothing emmy worthy on gl, especially anything related to someone giving away their dog and declaring their independence or whatever. it just seems cheezy.

hey I'm not saying the writing is anywhere near brilliant, I haven't cited that. I think Beth Chamberlin, Gina Tognoni, Jeff Branson, and Crystal Chappell have turned in a worthy performance this week or last.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series Melissa Archer (Natalie Buchanan)
Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning)
This girl’s performance on the witness stand perjuring herself to “protect” her father is one of the best performance by any younger actor or actress this year thus far. She should mark this episode down for the 2010 race b/c this was Emmy winning gold. And Melissa performance was so good today b/c she made me hate Natalie and that takes a pretty capable actor/actress to get that kind of emotion out of me.

Brad tells Sharon he loves her and wants to be with her. Brad is rejected.
I thought Don had some really good scenes and I liked the dialogue between him and Sharon. Don has never been an actor but I thought he hit it out of the park.

Best Writing
Brad and Traci remember the past.
I thought this episode was excellent and great build up to Don's departure.

February 5th - Maggie sees Chloe at the hospital, and asks her if she ended everything with Daniel. Chloe abruptly leaves without answering, giving Maggie her answer, and Maggie then has a confrontation and threatens Daniel.

You guys are a day ahead in Canada, right? I just watched the US episode from last Thursday, and I was coming here to post:
Thursday, January 29, 2009 Days of our Lives Best Actress Arianne Zucker - Nicole Walker
Nicole arrives at the clinic with Mia's baby and realizes that Sami's baby isn't breathing. She prays for the baby, saying that EJ doesn't deserve to lose another child because he's not cold like her, and it would destroy him. When the baby recovers, she tells Dr. Baker that she is taking Sami's baby and giving Mia's baby to her.
This whole episode was surprisingly good, and the dialogue was great, especially between Kate and Daniel and Chloe and Maggie. Those are the kinds of scenes we should be seeing more. Anyway, Zucker continues to shine and gave a really great, nuanced performance here. Nicole's motivations in this story are pretty interesting, and I love seeing her justify what she's doing. Also, the moment when she went from being tender about the baby and snapped back into bitch mode with Dr. Baker was great.
John Ingle Edward Quartermaine General Hospital Thursday Feb 5th, 2009
Edward and Carly chat. Edward confesses about his true feelings for Tracy, to both Carly, and Tracy. He was great today. Nice to see some vets doing great work and not getting killed off. Edward was remakable today, Ingle played off Laura Wright very well, and I was shocked at how he let Carly comfort him. The scene at Tracy's bedside made me cry, then when she woke up I broke out in laughter.

The Young & the Restless February 4, 2009 Best Actress Jeanne Cooper as Katherine Chancellor
Katherine continues to struggle with her memory while playing cards with Murphy.
Cooper was excellent here. Katherine's fear of possibly having Alzheimer's was wonderfully portrayed. This actress is doing some remarkably fine work! I APPLAUD MAB for writing for KATHERINE CHANCELLOR AGAIN.
The Young & the Restless February 5, 2009 Best Drama Series Best Writing Best Directing
Brad is found frozen to death under the lake.
A wonderful ensemble episode and brilliantly scripted. Y&R has gone back to the basics and its rewarding them in extraordinary ways. Kevin Schmidt was absolutely spectacular to his reaction to Brad's death, as was Case. But this was truly an ensemble piece.
GUIDING LIGHT Feb. 4, 2009 Lead Actor - Ron Rains (Alan Spaulding) Supporting Actress - Beth Chamberlin (Beth Bauer)
Alan confronts Beth and informs her that he knows of her affair with Coop. She tells him she's leaving. Alan tells Beth that if she leaves and goes back to Coop, instead of marrying him, that what happened to Tammy will be nothing compared to what happens to Coop. Beth tells Coop the relationship is over as Alan confronts Buzz about the torrid affair.
Feb. 5, 2009 Lead Actress - Crystal Chappell (Olivia Spencer)
Olivia confronts two mothers about their confusion regarding Olivia & Natalia's relationship. Natalia later disapproves of the way Olivia handled the situation and they argue. Olivia later flirts with a man at the bar and then lets him know that while it was fun, she has someone waiting for her at home.
