I watch DAYS on and off, but i have been taping it during the Baby Grace story and let me just say, i am bawling watching Ali Sweeney hold that child (who is so adorable).

I can't imagine as a parent having to rock your child in yours arms knowing they are going to probably die. Though i am not a parent, and my nieces and nephew are older, it would kill me if something happened to them.

I think Sweeney's maternal instincts are all over this story...picturing one of her children in this situation, because that girl is delivering the best work of her career.

Definitely a deserving Emmy nominee!

Alison Sweeney had me crying my way through the episode, too. Arianne Zucker's great, and she's really eclipsed Sweeney for the last six months or so, but Sweeney is really owning this story, as far as I'm concerned. This must be really draining for her.

Galen Gering and Taylor Spreitler are surprising me, too. The cast is really selling this story.

Watch yeaterday's episode on SoapNet and I am w/u guys. Teared up when Ari was crying when that girl was holding her baby.

And the girl who play Mia is bringing it and that baby and her have the same eyes.

Now Galen Gering is suprising the heck out of me! I watch Passions from 01-07 and thought he was nothing more than a hunk of meat on a show that was nothing great, but his character is good and he and Sami work.

And speaking of Sami & work, Ali Sweeney is doing the work of her career as far as I am concern (and I did see some of the stuff from the execution on the Youtube and it doesn't come close to what she's doing). And seeing how kind the Emmys have been to Days for the past 2 yrs. she totally deserves a Lead Actress nom fo next yr.

My only gripe is that Marlena should be there, b/c the storyline would be even more powerful and have more meaning b/c Marlena also lost a child (2 if we count the ridic that was JER having Marlena be pregnant at 60!).

But I am definitly going to start watching the show again.

Ok, Alison Sweeney has been KILLING it with this storyline. I have never said this before, but she absolutely deserves an EMMY nomniation! Congrats to her!

And Arriane Zucker has been fantastica as usual... I'm shocked that I have been watching full episodes too! DAYS is on a roll right now.

Yeah, Ali Sweeney's doing a great job. The show's been great, but something with the editing/production is kind of weird. I wonder if they're trying something new production-wise by taping more scenes at once at then having episodes that are kind of a mosh of different production days. Whatever they're doing, I actually like it. The show has more of a primetime feel in that you kind of get to see more characters and storylines in an episode than you otherwise might. And if it saves them money, I'm all for it.

yea, i kind of noticed that too, they'll bring another 2 or 3 characters into it, about 15 minutes into the episode, they only have a few scenes, but it gives everyone airtime at least, and just this past week, they've also condensed the beginning theme song and made it smaller ( though i don't quite like the way they did it this time around. lol )

I agree, Sweeney is doing the best work of her career.

I really like that the show has opted for a more subdued emotional take for this death and not the hysterical route that most soaps (including DAYS in the past) have taken when it comes to children dying.

Arianne Zuker and Alison Sweeney both deserve credit for their work so far in this storyline.

I expect James Scott to join the list this week/next week when Sami finally tells him that he was the father of Grace and he realizes he has been cheated out of time with a daughter that he never knew he had (and who is now dead).

The actor who plays Will also has some big scenes coming up when Sami also confesses the truth to him about the baby not being adopted and EJ being the father.

I'm exciting to see how things develop, though I'm sorry to say my love James Scott kind of went overboard yesterday when Sami told him about Grace being his. Hopefully, he can reign that in a bit. I'm sure he'll have some really strong stuff come out of it.

I am absolutely loving the show right now, though.

BTW, for all those who think there are no new viewers in daytime, I've recruited one! I have a friend who never watched soaps, but has been so excited by the recent DAYS commercials and my telling her what's been going on that she's now become a watcher of the show. Maybe the industry isn't dying after all.

I thought James Scott and Allison Sweeney were great today-6-11-09-Really intense work.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

with all these people joining the show i have to wonder if lauren koslow will soon be back on the chopping block or if they will not renew nadia bjorlin's contract in october. someone's gonna go. i believe lk is probably still here because of the chloe story or else she would be a prop veteran like suzeanne. if the writers dont get chloe back into her core relationships, what purpoe is there for her to still be here. bjorlin's bound to soon be maurice and steve's new leading lady at gh in 2010. there's no question she's going there or to b&b if she's not renewed and i heard she isnt happy with her character anyways.

I kind of took it as a given that Nadia Bjorlin wouldn't renew her contract. I don't know why. It just seems like she's been unhappy, and really I don't blame her.

I won't miss her one bit! Bjorlin, who showed glimpes of brilliance during the cancer storyline during her first run, has seemed wooden and just plain terrible for most of her 1st and now her 2nd run as well.

She is a beautiful, there is no denying that, but her acting skills are FAR from good.

If she does leave, she better hit up an acting coach pronto!

I just started watching DAYS again after Nelson reported it has improved greatly with Grace's death. I've been checking in here and there, but not very closely. Here are some snap judgments from watching half an hour today (I tuned in after Y&R ended).

- That Melanie chick is just as bad as reported. Stephanie is a little better, but not by much.

- Please tell me I'm not the only one who could see how stupendously awful James Scott was in his scene with Joseph Mascolo talking about Sami's betrayal. If this is the same caliber of performance he's giving day in, day out, it looks like he hasn't improved one bit since last I checked. He was almost as bad as Melanie.

- This baby switch confuses the hell out of me, LOL. I'm not sure whose baby was switched with whom and which one died and how, but I'm sure I'll pick that up along the way, assuming the bad acting doesn't make me tune out again in a week's time.

Yep your snap judgements are pretty right on!

James Scott has been hit or miss for me. The scene you were talking about was bad but there have been some decent ones too. Hes definately not the strong point in this s/l though.

Baby recap: Nicole was preggers lost the baby found a teen moms (Mia) baby to adopt, then she found out Sami was preggers. She blackmailed the Dr. into switching Mias baby for Samis. The baby Sami thinks was hers is the one that died of meningitis but it was really Mias. Samis baby is being raised by the DiMeras.

Hmmm, interesting.

So if Nicole was adopting a baby, why did she bother stealing Sami's? Did she just want to hurt Sami? Or was she dead-set on raising EJ's child?

As for Melanie and Stephanie, why do shows insist on bombarding us with characters and actors the fans clearly don't like? Don't they realize it's self-defeating? One look at those girls and my attention checked out. And why must they look like the same bland, vacuous runway model? I wouldn't have been able to tell those two apart had their names not been repeated during their scenes. Soaps have had so much success casting unconventional actors -- Bradford Anderson on GH, Kathy Brier on OLTL, Blake Berris on DAYS -- but casting directors still think all we care about are perky bimbos and beefcake. Of course, DAYS is hardly the only offender, but those two actresses were so obviously cast to fit the same beauty queen mold that it's kind of ridiculous even to pretend that they're playing characters.

from what i heard on her website, she and eric martsolf have been pitching for broe to reunite. they were even at the dodger game together a couple weeks back that was televised. eric also had told a close fan that "the show would never kill chloe off and that danloe are gonna be on a break". either he knows something or he is dillusional as to what tptb will do.

sweeny has been good, but i feel zuker has the better shot at a nod, she has a more sharper point in her acting that sweeny doesnt, the most memorable line from that whole plot has been "don't punish grace for what i'v done! punish me!" and sweeny is no different than kkl at b&b who has never been nominated and been crying much longer for a emmy. and when this whole baby saga blows up, ari is going to really deliver it and its gonna top what sweeny is doing now. ari seems to be in the designated eileen davidson spot on the show, and sweeny is deidre hall. ari/davidson wins.

people that leave dool for the most part tend to get better, and bjorlin is no exception, though she is not cut in emmy mold. she's more of the sexy looks and girl you want to root for like vanessa marcil and at one point kristian alfonzo.
