What a wonderful read. Thanks for the interview, Nelson. And, thank you, Ms. Zimmer for a wonderfully, rich and interesting ride during the past 25 years as Reva. You and the character are truly one of a kind. You truly deserved every one of your Emmys and then some!!! At least three more for sure.
You are one of the few (and I do mean few) actresses ever to grace the screen that could turn dribble into gold and who acted from the heart. I NEVER once thought of you as Kim while watching GL, only Reva, as you took what was given to you and made it something special. And that will be lacking from our genre now that GL and Reva are gone.

A good actress and at times a sublime one. Never has daytime seen an actress so full of life and passion and sadly they'll never see another one like her.
I'm tired of hearing about how she was not as good as Laura Wright. Wright's tenure was blah. I watched for most of her reign, and I couldn't name one scene that stood out. I thought Forrester was a much better actress, but the writers screwed up the character of Cassie. That's the writer's fault not Forrester's. I liked Forrester which is more than I can say for Sisk Wright who I find a serviceable, but forgettable actress. Even though there was cheating, it does tickle me that Forrester nabbed a nomination while Wright has never been nominated.
It's a sad day for actors when yelling is seen as the requirement for first rate acting. I thought daytime had moved beyond that ridiculousness.

i had never watched Guiding Light but the promos for the clone story got me to tune in and I fell in love with her in the mid-90's. Kim is fantastic - haven't watched in years but she is a star. Whenever I do tune in her performances just breathe history, POV, awareness, and 100% commitment. Her candor is so refreshing and she is the epitome of a woman who lives and acts fully and with everything she has. I pray that the best is yet to come for Kim Zimmer and wish her well.

"In film, they don’t allow producers behind countless box office bombs anywhere near a set until they prove themselves again"
That is a quote Nelson made in the interview..But my question is this: if no ones give you a chance to make another movie, how will you prove to hollywood that you are a good producer?
and no im not comin to the defense of the Ellen Whelle's and Jill Farren Phillps of the world..
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..
Lord knows I love Kim Zimmer, but I completely disagree with her on several points.
Especially about MADD. After what that woman did to Michael Zaslow, there's just no defending her.
I know a lot of ppl didn't like Nicole Forrester as Cassie but I don't blame her. I think she's a good actress who got saddled with a rather unpopular pairing.
And ITA with syrus80 about Reva and the Lewis men. I don't care if Reva & Josh are the show's greatest supercouple, that's just hypocrisy plain and simple.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I completely agree with you.
I was not a huge MADD fan either, but Zimmer is right in saying that Goutman & Wheeler have no ultimate superior to answer too since dissolving the Executive in Charge of Production position. I've been saying that for years...you had the inmates running the asylum. That position should have been filled after she left, she wasn't the only one to have held it - there were several before here. It's one of the many different reasons things have gone to crap in daytime.

In Hollywood, you go right back to the "bottom" (mainly indie films and take subordinate producing jobs) and prove yourself all over again. Or go back to TV! LOL!

So since Ellen killed GL, whats the bottom for her? Doing shows on PBS?

OK, I read that much different than most of you guys. I don't think that her problem was with the story- in fact, if I remember correctly she, Wright and Newman pitched it. I think that her point was that b/c Forrester didn't have Cassie's history, she played the story differently that Zimmer felt it should have been played, or had originally concieved.
And the Josh/Cassie pairing with Forrester in the role was a disaster. She was a wet noodle in that particular s/l. However, she came into her own with Tammy's death and absolutely deserved the Emmy. So, typical GL, just when I start accepting the recast and they are comfortable in the role, she gets fired. Sigh.

Also, Reva never loved Josh's bro/dad in that way — but GL wrote Cassie being Josh's big love which is why it didn't work. Plus, Reva not telling Josh about her cancer was another reason the story bombed.
That was fun! I love how opinionated Zimmer can be at times.
I have to agree with Crystal and co. about Nicole Forester as an actress. I remember asking last year why Forester's nomination was being treated like such a joke. I rarely watch GL, and I was taking some people's word for it that she just didn't bring much to the role, but then when I saw the Emmy reels, hers was clearly the best. (The worst moments on there were Tom Pelphrey's insane screaming.)
I can see what Kim means about the story having a different feel with a new actress, any new actress, playing the role and not having the same history. But in a case where the plot of the story just doesn't work, I doubt it would have been much better by having Wright play Cassie against the way the part was written.
