Originally posted by BC: After doing a tally, I've got MORE BLIND ITEMS:
Here are the answers:
Two soap operas have a total of 28 nominations, despite not being up for Best Soap; those two were two of the three soaps that were deadlocked in a tie that kept them from being nominated- One Life to Live has 15 Nominations, and As the World Turns has 13; 15 + 13 = 28; the third soap in the tie was General Hospital
One soap not up for series has 4 of the 11 Younger Acting nominations, another soap not up for series has 3 Younger Acting nominations, comprising of half of that show's nominations- As the World Turns had 4 Younger Acting nominations, and Days of Our Lives has three
One soap has 4 of the 6 Cutest Couple nominees- Guiding Light: Otalia, Josh/Reva/Jeffrey, Bill & Lizzie, Beth & Coop
Six of the guest acting nominees portrayed dead people; five of the six are from one show- One Life to Live- Agnes Nixon, Stephen Markle, Erin Torpey, Mark Derwin, AND Phil Carey, and the 6th has ties to Llanview, Fiona Hutchison
One of this year's nominees is deceased (I think I gave that one away)- And I did- Phil Carey, whom we lost in February
There are two gay soap couples up for Cutest couple (oops, gave that one away, haha)- Nuke and Otalia
Two of the shows up for Series are the most nominated shows overall (including Primetime shows)- Guiding Light: 25 Nominations; Y&R- 22 Nominations
The shows up for Series have a total of 61 nominations between them- Guiding Light: 25, Y&R: 22, All My Children: 14; 25 + 22 + 14 = 61
There are 12 daytime talk show hosts (past and present) nominated individually overall...try to guess them all...- Steve Wilkos, Bonnie Hunt, Meredith Vieira (Game Show Host/News Anchor or Host), Oprah Winfrey (Guest Actress in a Comedy Series), Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Barbara Walters, Ellen DeGeneres, Tyra Banks (also up for Reality Show Host), and nominated for Producing a Talk Show- Jerry Springer
FACTS: Phil Carey is the second soap star to be posthumously nominated...Josh Ryan Evans died before winning a second Bryan Award; David Bailey (ex-Alistair, Passions) was nominated in 2005 for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
This is the first time in the nine year history of the Bryan Awards that As the World Turns is NOT nominated for Outstanding Daytime Drama (it won the first two years of the Bryan Awards, and has lost six straight times)
GL and Y&R both have a chance to break a three-way tie for Most Daytime Drama Series wins this year. Both have won that award twice.
Mick Hazen and Rachel Melvin have a chance of being the first Younger Actor/Actress pair to repeat since the Eden Riegel and the late Josh Ryan Evans did in the first two years of the Bryan Awards (2001 & 2002)
As mentioned, 12 different talk show hosts, past and present are up for Bryan Awards this year
GL leads all series for the 2nd time in the last three years (they also led in 2007); it also won in 2007, and the third time in nine years (2003 being the other year) they have done so; GL was the most nominated soap opera in 2003, 2004, 2007, and this year.
