I am echoing the prayers from the soap press and fans alike who wants to see this role w/a powerhouse in it. I'll say that Amelia Heinle is a good actress, but after Heather Tom they needed to have someone who would have the same fire and passion like Tom, but could play the role w/a twist and amelia isn't doing that. Many of us said that Gina Tognoni (soon-to-be-ex-Dinah, GL & ex-Kelly, OLTL) would make a great recast. I do too, but I would rather have her on OLTL. So given the recent comments from Sarah Brown (Claudia & ex-Carly, GH & ex-Julia, ATWT) and them sending out a casting sheet (why recast Claudia ugh!) this would be perfect timing for Maria and company to make the casting coupe of the yr. and get this 3X Emmy winner in this crucial role.

Question:
Who Do You Want In the Role of Victoria?

Choices:
Sarah Brown
Amelia Heinle
Gina Tognoni
Heather Tom
Someone else

My choices in order:

1) Heather Tom. The original. Think of the flashbacks!

2) Gina Tognoni. So hot. Would bring sexy back to the show.

3) Chris Engen. He looks so good in a dress and wig and he would still be more femme than choice #4.

4) Sarah Brown. Shoot me know. Just we need -- that damn scenery chewing nostril flaring diva.

5) Anyone else except Amelia Heinle.

6) Amelia Heinle.

No one will ever be Victoria but Heather Tom.

Why can't that damn cougar that is over at Jackie M run wild on the streets of LA...kill Katie, then that would free up Heather for her return to Y&R.

AH would be a good Katie. Just switch actresses.

Obviously, Heather Tom is the first choice for anyone playing Victoria, but hasn't Nelson flat out said that there is no chance of Tom returning to Y&R? Now, I know forever is a long time, but if there is some kind of animosity there, then that doesn't help. Ask Victoria Rowell.

In the event that Heinle vacates the role, I would prefer Gina Tognoni to take it before Sarah Brown.

Heather Tom is not that great of an actress IMO. Gina would add some sexiness to the role; Tom comes off very manly.

Not a fan of her works plus her politics makes dislike her.

Heather Tom is a great actress. IMO she has consistently proven that from Y&R to OLTL, and to some extent B&B (Katie is an awfully written character). I think HT has a sophisticated type attractiveness to her. When I saw her in that "Behind the scenes Y&R, with MTS" she looked radiant. Personally, Tom would be the obvious first choice. She excelled in the role, and kept Braeden on his toes. Politics or not, HT is an actress that I would classify as great.

What luck for rulers that men do not think.

Chemistry is important. We know for a fact that HT has chemistry with EB and MTS. We don't know if GT will. Not that I don't like GT. I do and she's my second choice. Still, it's better to go with the sure thing if you have a choice.

How about Tamara Braun? I have no clue why AMC and Days didn't hold on to her, but somebody better snatch her up before Guza convinces her to dye her hair and play a new character who walks around Port Charles dressed from head to toe in leather.

Tamara Braun would be a great recast. Or Sarah Brown. Or Christie Clark ex-Carrie Days. Or Natalie Zea ex-Gwen Passions.

Hands down, Heather Tom. I still remember some of her performances (confronting Nina at Cricket's party over witnessing her sleep with Ryan, to her heartbreaking work when she lost baby Eve, and then that amazing scene where she slapped her father Victor!). She was able to go toe-to-toe with all of these actors - Braeden, Soctt, Cast, Bergman, Stafford, Case - and not only match but in many instances, steal the scene.

Plus her so-called 'manly' performance is a fresh of breath air...we get enough ingenue sexiness in daytime...plus she is Victor Newman's daughter...I expect a more aggressive style to approaching the character.

Finally, Tom actually looks like she could be a Braeden-Scott offspring!

You win on all counts: Hugely talented and capable of hanging in with powerhouse actors, realistic & authentic that the casting makes sense, and an original performance. And having originated the character, she also has the history and built up audience understanding to boot.

Heather Tom would be the ideal first choice, since she made that role a sensation.

However, if she can't come back, then they should give Gina Tognoini the role. I think she has the power to own that role and make it her own, of course the writing has to be on her side too.

In any event, Amelia Heinle sucks and just needs to go already. She's so miscast and lifeless.

Heather Tom as Victoria Newman is one of my all-time favorite soap characters. I can't even begin to describe how much I want her to return to Y&R. In fact, I've often felt that Victoria Newman is one of daytime's "impossible to recast" characters, because HT made the role hers and only hers, and particularly because of the amazing chemistry she shared with all other actors in Y&R, from Kristoff St. John to Joshua Morrow, but ESPECIALLY with Eric Braeden. Can anyone think of a better father-daughter team in soap history?

Anyways, if there is one person that I can think of who could also pull off Victoria, I guess I would go with Gina Tognoni. But my fingers will continue to be crossed and I will await with great impatience for that glorious moment when the real Victoria makes a grand re-entrance into the Newman ranch.

I disagree about Heather Tom not being sexy. I find her very sexy in a demure and classy kind of way.

I like Sarah Brown, but I don't see her as a fit to play Victoria. I can't figure out exactly why, but it just doesn't seem like a good match between actress and character.

When it comes to Tamara Braun, I remain on the outside looking in. I have tried and tried over the years, I still don't see it. The praise that is heaped on her baffles me to this day. Her best role was Carly on GH and of her four years there, the first two were unwatchable and the last two were passable at best, IMO. To be honest, I'd rather stick with Heinle than give to role to Braun.

I can't picture Gina and MTS as mother and daughter. And Sarah Brown doesn't possess the same vulnerability that she did when she played Carly. Plus she seems like she'd be a love interest for Victor and not his daughter.

syrus I agree w/u about Tognoni. She is a fantastic actress, but I can't buy her as the offspring of Eric & Mel.

zack I am w/u about the Tams. Her best role as far as I am concern was Ava on Days. Her Carly from watching her on the Youtube and on and off during her last yr. GH was trying too hard to make her Carly as "Carmela Soprano lite" and she didn't pull it off. If I were to rank the Carly's Sarah (who stuff I had a treat of watching on the Youtube) as number 1 and Laura as number two. And I agree w/u that Heather is hot and they way they are dressing her up on B&B shows that. They way they did her onOLTL was not flattering at all.

Clearly Heather Tom is the first choice, and the only logical choice. I would put Sarah Brown next, because i believe she has something that even Heather doesn't, an emotional maturity to her acting that hasn't been relevent in the character of Victoria since AH took over the role; she walks around like a whimp, but SB plays her roles with a spunk and a agression that Victoria needs. Gina Tognoni is a gifted actress, but i'm not entirely sure i see her as the one-time spoiled princess, now business savvy Victoria Newman-Hellstorm...

.
