Drama Series:
Days Of Our Lives. ABC and NBC probrally bloc voted together and will leave CBS out in the dust.

Writing:
One Life To Live. Ron C should get his second emmy speech ready. B&B could surprise.

Directing:
All My Children.

Lead Actress:
My gut says either Jeanne Cooper or Susan Flannery with Susan Haskell as a dark-horse.

Lead Actor:
Daniel Cosgrove or Christian Le Blanc... i'm leaning towards Cosgrove.

Supporting Actress:
Bree Williamson or Melissa Clare Egan will win. The dark horse is Julie Pinson.

Supporting Actor:
Van Hansin or Vincent Irrizarry.

Younger Actress:
Rachel Melvin

Younger Actor:
Darrin Brooks or Bryton.

Can someone explain to me how an ABC/NBC vote bloc would get DAYS the win over AMC on that idea alone? Wouldn't the fact that ABC has 3 soaps on the air mean that AMC would be in the lead over DAYS?

Again, just considering the vote bloc idea and I am curious.

I honestly can't make predictions until we know what was submitted. Drama Series, Lead Actor and Lead Actress are particularly difficult until the tapes are viewed. All 10 of the Supporting candidates are worthy, but Irizarry and Braun are the best actors in their category and both due for an Emmy for both their shows and body of work over the years.

my theory and i'm sorry for not explaining it is that with the tapes they have DOOL has a better chance of winning, so perhaps they would agree to vote for DOOL and vote for some of AMC's actors.

I just have this strange DOOL feeling right now.

My completely off the wall predix (since I have watched so very little daytime but this is fun):

Drama- B&B (I can see the whole suicide arc really doing well with voters)

Actor- Geary (when all else fails, go for him)

Actress- Cooper (they love to repeat)

Supp Actor- Anderson (I think the AMC boys will split the vote and I can see Anderson winning because he is so different)

Supp Actress- Braun (Again, AMC splits and Braun just edges out Pinson. I haven't a clue what Williamson sent in but I hear she has been amazing)

Young Actor- Bryton (another love to repeat choice)

Young Actress- O'Brien (total guess without much thinking)

Writing- OLTL

Directing- AMC or DAYS (one of the "events" will win out)

my guesses on who will win, based on prediction, storyline, actor popularity, etc:

DRAMA SERIES

All My Children

WRITING TEAM

General Hospital

DIRECTING TEAM

One Life to Live

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS

Jeanne Cooper

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR

Anthony Geary

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Bree Williamson

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR

Jacob Young

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS

Kirsten Storms

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR

Cornelius Smith Jr.

now for who SHOULD win

drama series: days of our lives

against other soaps probably not, but against these 2 soaps, it has a good chance and does deserve a win, waaaaaaay overdue

Outstanding Lead Actress: Debbi Morgan or Susan Haskell

Outstanding Lead Actor: ( anyone but anthony Geary. haha ) Daniel Cosgrove is probably the most deserving here, but Peter Reckell deserves a win as well if he submitted the episode from his father's death.

Outstanding supporting actress: tamara Braun

Outstanding supporting actor: Van Hansis

Outstanding younger actress: rachel Melvin

outstanding younger actor: Blake Berris or Darin Brooks

Yea call me biased, but all of Days of our lives nominations this year are deserved, unlike last years, and if they won, they would be deserved wins, last year would have been a crock if they won any, except for in the younger categories.

So many acting nods for DAYS, but none for Allison Sweeney. Daytime's throwing a life raft to Days since it's the only NBC soap.

OLTL and Y&R shut out of best in show, despite all the praise from the media, is quite interesting.

At least Heather Tom isn't nominated.

Loving the love for Braun and Storms. But why so much love for LeBlanc (whom I admit I do like) and not Reckell? Am I the only one who finds him totally due for a win? Or is two major wins for DAYS (L Actor, S Actress) just wishful thinking?

AwardMadness101,

Lack of love for Days of Our Lives' Peter Reckell is based on predictions. I don't see it happening for Reckell not because of the actor but the fact that we have not seen a first-time nominee win the lead-actor Emmy since 1983 (credit: One Life to Live's Bob Woods).

W/pretty much seeing what the Supporting actors submitted (pending Bradford, if that clip wasn't the one he submitted, and Jacob) Van Hansis will win.

And if Rachel Melvin submitted anything from the transplant storyline she could win.

Here a scene from that storyline

Here is who I think will win.

DRAMA SERIES
All My Children
Bold & The Beautiful
Days Of Our Lives

Now I know some of you are probably saying "of course Scoopster will pick DAYS OF OUR LIVES...duh" but hear me out. I feel that DAYS could snag the award because they the competition is weaker this year. Moreover, DAYS submitted what could be argued as the best episode among the 3 nominated with the well recieved plane crash event. Also it appears that daytime is trying to send a message with its nominations for DAYS this year. It is widely known that DAYS barely escaped the chopping block from NBC and despite losing 50% of its buget, it is still doing well ratings wise and is the only soap up versus last year. The daytime industry might be thinking that a emmy win for Drama Series will protect the show a little longer. Also it appears that DAYS block voted with ABC, which means it likely got votes from all 3 ABC soaps. However, I feel like DAYS has an edge over AMC here because it is likely that the Sony/Bell soaps probably cast votes for DAYS as well. IMO the award probably hinges on which soaps DAYS voted for in Drama Series, if DAYS votes AMC then it could be a nail biter. I really feel like Drama Series is gonna go to DAYS or AMC...one of them will get it. DAYS would make the bigger headlines with its win since it has not won since the 1970's and what a headline that would make for the show.

---

The rest of the categories I will just predict who I THINK will win.

OUTSTANDING WRITING TEAM
All My Children
The Bold and the Beautiful
General Hospital
One Life to Live

-Writers only vote here and I think for sure that Carlivati will win this once again.

OUTSTANDING DIRECTING TEAM
All My Children
Days of Our Lives
One Life to Live

Despite the win for OLTL at the DGA's, DAYS I think will snag this one. DAYS has one of the best directing teams and I think the Plane Crash episodes were the best directed episodes in daytime last year. DAYS DGA nomination probably helped them get a nom here.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
Debbi Morgan - All My Children
Maura West - As the World Turns
Susan Flannery - The Bold and the Beautiful
Susan Haskell - One Life to Live
Jeanne Cooper - The Young and the Restless

With all of their acting nominations, AMC is bound to win won and Debbi Morgan is a very respected actress in the industry who helped lift AMC out of a huge slump with her return. Moreover, she has IMO, the best material among all of those in this category. If Susan Flannery or Jeanne Cooper win this category I will ****ing shoot myself in the head!!! Susan Haskell is the only other deserving nod. West is a wasted nomination here.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR
Thorsten Kaye - All My Children
Peter Reckell - Days of Our Lives
Anthony Geary - General Hospital
Daniel Cosgrove - Guiding Light
Christian LeBlanc - The Young and the Restless

As a HUGE Peter Reckell fan I would like nothing more than to see him shock and win Lead Actor, but once again the daytime community will reward overactor Christian LeBlanc...besides Y&R cannot leave emmy night empty handed yawn I am praying with every ounce in my body that Anthony Geary does not win. OMG that would ruin my night...AGAIN!

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Melissa Clare Egan - All My Children
Alicia Mishew - All My Children
Julie Pinson - As the World Turns
Tamara Braun - Days of Our Lives
Bree Williamson - One Life to Live

Braun is the strongest actress in this category. She had the best material among all the ladies here and she is well liked in the industry. She has 3 soaps supporting her in this race (DAYS, AMC & GH). I truly feel like Braun will get it...if not her, than I think Pinson will walk away with it. Pinson has proven she is a very capable actress and she has support from all over the place (at ABC due to her being on PC) from DAYS and now from ATWT (and probably GL). Really anyone but Alicia Minshew!

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR
Vincent Irrizary - All My Children
Jacob Young - All My Children
Van Hansis - As the World Turns
Bradford Anderson - General Hospital
Jeff Branson - Guiding Light

Van Hansis made the transition from younger to supporting in back to back years. He has the strongest material to submit and is a proven great actor. Hard to say with this one...I would love to see Irizarry win...he is WAY overdue!

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS
Meredith Hagner - As the World Turns
Rachel Melvin - Days of Our Lives
Kirsten Storms - General Hospital
Julie Berman - General Hospital
Emily O'Brien - The Young and the Restless

This one is going to Rachel Melvin or Kirsten Storms. Storms gets a makeup nod for last year. Melvin has the strongest tapes to submit. It is gonna be close between Melvin and Storms...outside chance for Berman. No chance for O'Brien or Hagmen. The transplant story is the reason why Peter Reckell and Melvin both got nominated. Moreover, Melvin has proven to me she is the strongest younger actress on this list and was ROBBED of a win last year!

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR
Cornelius Smith Jr. - All My Children
Darin Brooks - Days of Our Lives
Blake Berris - Days of Our Lives
EJ Bonilla - Guiding Light
Bryton McClure - The Young and the Restless

Cannot call younger actor just because of the atrocities that have occurred in other years. Blake Berris is by an ABSOLUTE mile the most deserving in this category and if the voters truly went the way of material, Berris has this in the bag. If not Berris then Bland.ryton McClure will once again win due to having Y&R backing. Berris is the strongest here though. Brooks is nothing special and same goes for the other two nominees.
