It didn't take All My Children long to recast the role of Colby Chandler, last played by Brianne Moncrief. Soap Opera Digest is reporting the role will now be played by Natalie Hall. The actress, who has appeared on The Good Wife and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, will start filming in mid-October. No word on her first air date.

This strikes me as the type of role that needs a well known name actress to take it over and really turn it around. It's clear the character hasn't made any defining mark on the series yet and i think in order for her to ever amount to anything she needs to be played by a big name actress. Calling Erin Torpey, Calling Erin Torpey.

I have a habit of recommending Erin Hershey Presley for any and every role (Victor Newman recast!), but she's too old for Colby. Marcy Walker was in her late 30s when Liza had Colby, and Erin Hershey is only five years younger than Jamie Luner. Heck, Erin Torpey is only ten years younger than Luner. To recast Colby with an age appropriate actress right now would require a fetus.

Well when Colby and Liza left AMC at the start of this decade she was only a pre-teen then all of a sudden she came back as a full grown adult so at this point they can cast pretty much anybody in the role and it would make sense.
They really need a known entity in this role for it to matter at all.
