Finally some dialogue in this thread (thnxs MARKPGH). My whole thing about this race is that recurring actors will have to compete in the Guest categories to make it work. Shackelford is definitely a Supporting Actor, but I think the show could end up putting him here. Brian Kerwin is another actor who is in this situation. He had some great episodes from earlier in the year that could put him back in the Supporting actor race, but could be considered in this category also. The difference is that unlike Y&R, OLTL has had some great guest stints by actors this yr. so I think Kerwin will be placed in Supporting and be back in the race.

Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series Analysis: W/Jen Landon out of the race the race is now open up to first timers & returning nominees. Right now I have last yr. nominee Rachel Melvin as the frontrunner to win it thanxs to the episodes surrounding Bo’s transplant. Julie Marie Berman could be back and even though I am predicting her, I won’t be surprised if she didn’t make it back in. I really want Kirsten to be nominated to make up for her inexcusable snub last year, but the question is what does she have and if Guza is going to give her another knockout storyline b4 yrs. end. Kristen has been overlooked for years when she should’ve been nominated. I have been sayin that she has been phoning it in since the explosive episode where Todd found her and Cole in bed together. I think that episode paired w/the upcoming redo of “Live Week” or where she gets her sonogram would get her the nomination. And since it wouldn’t be a Daytime Emmy category w/o a Y&R person I fully expect the Y&R girl nominated will be Christel (unless the gang at Y&R go back to picking names out of a hat and we get that horrible actress who plays Eden) thanks to good old block voting and an actual decent tape. Other worthy contenders includes Meredith Hagner (Liberty, ATWT) & Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy, B&B).
Outstanding Younger Actress In A Drama Series Rachel Melvin as Chelsea Brady, Days of Our Lives (NBC) Julie Marie Berman as Lulu Spencer, General Hospital (ABC) Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones, General Hospital (ABC) Kristen Alderson as Starr Manning, One Life to Live (ABC) Christel Khalil as Lily Winters, The Young and the Restless (CBS)

It's been tough to participate in a discussion of who gets nominated because it can vary so much depending on the approach the Academy takes this year. One would hope that after the disastrous nominations last year, there would be some changes, but who even knows.
As far as nominees, I don't really see Noelle Beck or Jeanne Cooper getting a nom next year. Also, I really like her, but I don't think Jacqueline McInnes Woods has yet done anything to get herself nominated.
All the shenanigans that have happened at DAYS will probably guarantee them to be shut out of most major categories. Both Rachel Melvin and Darin Brooks have done some excellent work this year and certainly could get nominated. I also see slight possibilities in the supporting categories with Peggy McKay having turned in some great performances throughout the year, and maybe Joseph Mascolo depending on what he does in the next few months.
Giving the politics concerning this award show I fully expect Noelle to be shut out, but if she were to make I would be on cloud nine.
Cooper will submit herself this yr. either Lead or Supporting and will still get the nomination unfortunately.
Wood is definitely someone I would want to see nominated, but like Kirsten Storms she doesn't have a standout episode (and that does matter unless your a Y&R actor/actress, bitter party of one).
I have lost all hope of Days getting nominated unless it's the Younger Acting race & Directing (which I am so skeptical about). This has been the show I have always wanted to get nominated ever since I joined this site. In 2007 I was p*ssed and still hold the Y&R ladies responsible of taking Kristian Alfonso spot in that race. Then last yr. w/Scott at the helm Days got nominated, but it was the wrong ppl. (except for Melvin). So except for the races I mention earlier I fully expect days to get shut out this yr.

here are my predicted front runners right now and upset factors along with who i think is in for a snub.
lead actor 1.darnell williams, amc 2.cristian leblanc,y&r 3.eric braaden,y&r its the year of angie and jessie, what he had early in the year and what he's about to get is hard to beat. he can be over the top but he has this vocal intensity and personality that eric braaden lacks. leblanc has yet another back story, the kind of stuff he has won his two emmys for. comparing two reels to braaden's, leblanc just would stand out more and he has taken the emmy away from bergman last year. but leblanc just cant beat williams, who to me has been out of this world.
snubbed jon hensley, atwt he has yet to be nominated under this system and has competition on the prenoms with park and probably howarth since he's the third and only other lead actor. he wont get enough votes from gl to get in.
lead actress 1.debbie morgan, amc 2.laura wright,gh 3.melody thomas scott,y&r as with williams, morgan will be tough to beat. there was a point where wright may have been the front-runner but she is probably going to submit something with the carjax breakup along with michael's shooting that will reduce her to second and maybe even third. ingo brings out the worst in her and that would not be good for her reels. but im not feeling great about her nomination chances. overall she looks to place seventh in voting. mts is truly having a nom-worthy year and has a great chance of winning if morgan does not go lead. she however has to submit the drunk phone call with katherine, its her best reel. people seem to have forgotten about debbie and darnell a little.
snubbed laura wright,gh as i said before she looks to place seventh. i think morgan will break the top five at cbs but six will be nominated including five again there. at this point its stafford, scott, morgan, west, chappelle, and zimmer.
supporting actor 1.brandon barasch,gh 2.micheal graziadei,y&r 3.brian kerwin, oltl with lots of airtime and a bunch of strong dramatic reels, barasch is looking like he almost has this. graziadei has had some work as well but it seems y&r doesnt think so. he has a good chance to win if nominated. because he hasnt, we dont know what kind of factor he will play or has played. kerwin's weakness is being on oltl, who does not do a good enough job at writing emmy winning performances.
snubbed micheal graziadei,y&r and possibly bradford anderson,gh. i just think its rikaart,st.john, and shackleford again over him and barasch will be first at gh but it will be between hearst and anderson for second, if a second will get in.
i will work on the other three categories later. i'm really not in agreement with others but i just feel things are going to happen this way. cbs to me this year doesnt seem to be as solid as recent years and i think abc will benefit from that,in which they have shown some improvement.
judging by how recent primetime stars have faired on the bell soaps, thats why i dont think she would be nominated. she certainly wiped the floor with gareis, whose bandwagon i'm not on at all.
and now here are the other three with drama series. i forgot to include the upset factors for the other three. leblanc for lead actor and graziadei for supporting actor. i dont really have one for lead actress.
supporting actress 1.sarah brown,gh 2.heather tom,b&b 3.kathy brier, oltl the july7 and sep14 reels clearly makes brown stand out above what anybody else has. tom shows a little too much emotion in her performances, and i dont know how people will perceive brier's performance with the diner standoff. i dont know if she can win, she isnt a better actress than those two. tom has the miscarriage, almost dying, bridget and nick's wedding, and when ashley learned about natie, who i actually thought jones did surprisingly good. she has a lot of different stuff to submit with all displaying great acting. brown's two tapes shows it as well. she's a smart submitter so i am pretty sure right now sb would be looking at those two tapes.
snubbed jennifer gareis,b&b again, i am not impressed with her. i find her to be a bit too prissy and over the top at times. i dont think she gets nominated. upset kathy brier, oltl if she wins over brown or tom, it would truly be a upset. though people would be happy to see her win.
younger actor 1.cornelius smith,jr. 2.chris engan,y&r 3.laurence st.victor,gl there isnt a sure frontrunner here, so i go with the one who's had the heaviest stuff. i dont like smith but i think the hubbard trio sweep could happen at amc. engan doesnt show enough emotion to me and hasnt really hit it out there. with pelphrey no longer eligible, i think st.victor should be the top gl actor here and with the ava's baby stuff, he did a great job and might pose the best chance of a gl actor winning. with the new look, i have him listed third. at least i hope it isnt bonnilla that gets nominated. snubbed darren brooks. too much contention at cbs for him to get in, and the clear best at abc with smith. upset laurence st.victor
younger actress 1.julie berman,gh 2.crystal khalil,y&r 3.rachel melvin, dool berman just has a lot of stuff to submit. this is younger actress and you dont have to be really good to be nominated and without a landon, to win as well. snubbed crystal khalil every other year actresses from y&r dont get nominated. upset i dont think there is one unless you dont think berman should win.
drama series 1.oltl 2.y&R 3.amc oltl's marcy standoff still to me was the most compelling storytelling this year. snubbed gh? we'll see. upset atwt they do not deserve to win because of the way they have been this year.
Nelson has confirmed that there won't be a Guest Acting Category next yr.
I think if Sarah Brown doesn't leave GH b4 yrs. end I think she'll probably submit Lead. (Megan Ward did it so I wouldn't be suprised if Sarah did it).

i just am now learning that st.victor isnt eligible for younger actor. that means bonnilla is gonna get atwt's votes and become nominated in his place. yikes, look out. maybe gl wont prenom anyone for the category.
and i'm getting mixed reviews on cornelius smith,jr. some say younger, others supporting.
the last month, brown has been less focused on. i think she'll go supporting. besides, she's in trouble if she goes lead. amc wont give her enough votes or more than sleazak or strasser.
interesting. engen is 28,according to myspace. looks like just bryton mcclure again from y&r. engen will have problems getting a prenom with rikaart,st.john, shackleford, miller, and graziadei all there.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series Analysis: This is a category that can be really good or really bad, but I think I hit the nail on the head here. Ellen Dolan is the ATWT vet that if prenominated could actually be nominated. The episode where she held Emily at gunpt was such an awesome episode and paired w/either Tom & Margo’s anniversary or the episode where she threaten to arrest Casey could make her a serious threat to beat the person who I think is going to win. Heather Tom is so amazing and whatever role she is playing she is always good. I think the episode where she gives the eulogy at Storm’s funeral is the one that’ll clinch the win anything paired w/that is only helping her. I think Peggy McCay is going to be the vet. Nominee if her show prenominates her. The episode when Shawn died, the episode where she and Max talk about Shawn and Trent, or the episodes where she is in jail are great showcases for this Emmy winning actress. Kathy Brier should be nominated to make up for that horrendous snub last yr. If she chooses anything from the Texas storyline from earlier in the yr and if the voters watch it, I can’t see them denying her a nomination. Judith Chapman is one of my favorite Daytime actresses. Vintage over-topness and camp personified. The episode where Gloria and Jeff divorced and that breakdown scene would make me check her name if I was a voter. Other worthy contenders: Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, AMC) & Marcy Rylan (Lizzie, GL)
Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series Ellen Dolan as Margo Hughes, As the World Turns (CBS) Heather Tom as Katie Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS) Peggy McCay as Caroline Brady, Days of Our Lives (NBC) Kathy Brier as Marcie McBain, One Life to Live (ABC) Judith Chapman as Gloria Bardwell, The Young and the Restless (CBS)

I love Peggy Mckay, and I agree she deserves to be nominated again, but she's never won an emmy, so she's not an emmy winning actress...YET...hopefully at some point that changes. She was nominated in the mid 80's for oustanding actress, but she didn't win, her as well as Diedre Hall, both lost out to Erika Slezak.
