Ha ha -- Heche as Wheeler would be worth the price of admission.

9. After two weeks, Braeden announces to EW.com that he has ceased negotiations with Sony. 10. A few days later, Braeden calls Sony and accepts the $500,000 pay cut.
What happened between 9 and 10? Did EB need the money? Did he realize his leaving would cost MTS her job? Did MAB or someone else convince him to relent? EB seemed so emphatic about leaving, I think we're all curious as to why he gave in.
Honestly, 1-2 million doesn't seem like too much money for the likes of Braeden or Lucci. You gotta figure for every one fan that a typical 100K soap actor brings in, superstars like EB bring in at least 20.

Nelson do you think this whole Eric Braden/Y&R thing was a big PR stunt?? and since Y&R budget was cut in half, why didnt sony contact all the cast memembers at the same time and tell them that if you make 500k or more you need to take a 40% pay cut, and if you make below 500k, you take a 25% pay cut? I mean early this year, all of CBS prime time actors were told that they werent getting their annual raise, so why didnt CBS just handle all of the contracts at one time?
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..
If everyone bolted, then they'd have no cast! Once you open up a contract it's null and void, so they could all quit the show at the same time and then have BARGAINING power as a whole.
I'm pretty surprised Braeden was making that much money! I mean, to take a $500,000 paycut and still be making a million dollars, on a soap opera, is pretty incredible. I know Braeden's a huge star, but I didn't think he had quite the same status as Susan Lucci, Tony Geary, and even Deidre Hall, who I think of as more recognizable outside of soaps.
Braeden is worth every damn penny he gets from Y&R....and they know it. So if he was making $1.5 million a year...and he took a $500,000 pay cut...here is how you make it up Eric.....
primetime guest spots, PR tours and commercials...it will all even out in the end my friend. You will actually come out ahead.
Eric has to be one of daytime's highest paid actors, even with this pay cut.
I'm just glad he's staying!!!!
YOU GOT THAT!

Agreed! He's the face of Y&R as is Lucci of AMC and Geary of GH.

Nel, Aaron Eckhart as Brad Bell? I never understood your Brad Bell worship. 08 was a disaster with not a single week worth tuning into (yes even the suicide/heart transplant was a disaster because no one cared about Storm and Katie). 09 is even worse bec at least 08 had the definition of an Emmy baiting week's arc. You never bash Brad the way you bash Guza, Pratt, Frons, Wheeler, Goutman, Higley, you were happy that he won the Emmy for a terrible storyline (which has solidified talentless Heather Tom on the show) and now you think Aaron Eckhart should play him? Maybe William H. Macy would be a better choice since WHM played bumbling and clueless in Fargo, and that's what Brad must be in the writing room.
Do you have a tiff with Carlivati? You're quite critical of certain Daytimer's appearances (ahem Hunter Tylo) so casting Adrien brody doesn't seem to fit carlivati, and seems like a dig at him. The Pasdar casting for sexy valentini is perfect though!
Seriously Nel, when are you going to rip B&B and Brad Bell to shreds? I can't even stomach the spoilers, and I don't watch the soap anymore, and I watched since the show began. The Team Stephanie stunt robbed any dignity Beemer, Wagner, Mills, Downe, Jones and Hearst had left. It's "hair model" (your term) epicenter over there with Beemer, Downe, Gareis, Diamont, Woods, Battle, Tom, Lowder, Harmon and the guy that plays Thomas, while Moss is their acting coach. Lang's lost her lustre, Tylo's uneven, Flannery's been phoning it in and Wagner's been awful. Mills and Kay get to do nothing. It's time you bashed Brad and B&B the way you bash Guza, Pratt, Frons, Wheeler, Goutman, Higley, Days (before), GL, GH, ATWT, AMC.

Don't give them ideas Nel. The actors that portray Deacon, Amber, Kevin, Jana, Jeff, Daniel, JT, Michael, Gloria, Noah, Eden and Victoria might try that shiz! They should be off the show. EB has come out as the loser in all of this. He unnecessarily aired dirty laundry, and seemed to imply that there was no amount to equal treating him with dignity. Yet he comes back to Y&r, takes the same "substantial" paycut, but still ends up making 1M a year. Soaps have been on the decline since OJ, and he's been making more than a mill per year since then by mumbling and screaming. Can you say lucky?
That Geraldo Rivera/Eric Braeden gag must've been annoying. This reminds me of Gandolfini's talks with the Sopranos. Had they not worked it out, the writers were thinking of restructuring the show, and maybe making Carmela the new mob boss lady. I wouldn't have rehired him (immediately?) after all the things he publicly uttered, and tried Y&R sans Victor. I would've made Nikki buy the Bayou, make it an all male strip joint, and hire Cane and Billy as dancers.
Good luck to Sharon and Adam as a couple. I guess Sharon's going to have to try to use a strap on now to make Adam happy. CLB is not a waste of talent since he has no talent. He can't even write an intelligible Emmy speech. How in the world does Greg rikaart tolerate all of his babbling? LOL!

The blind item wasn't referring to Eden. It's pretty much confirmed she's returning. Think bigger.
I tore Brad in Suds this past Friday, and in past columns. Aren't you reading?
As for Brad, I was trying to find a good actor who was blonde — and looks like he's from Hollywood royalty, so I picked Aaron. Though Brad is much shorter in real life but it's called movie magic.
I think Adrien Brody is hot. He's one of my fave actors. Love him. And he can pass for Italian and he's just as tall as RC. I almost picked Gilles Marini — but he can't act and no one would buy that he's a writer, I think. Adrien is an Oscar winner so I'm not sure how that is a jab.
I can't stand B&B. Especially because what they have done to Brooke.

I'm guessing Robin Christopher for the AMC short term return.
B&B is as bad now as its ever been. There's nothing to that show anymore. The writing is terrible and the actors know it, which is why everyone's performances suck right now, Flannery and KKL included.
They acquire Rick Hearst, who is one of the most talented actors in Daytime, IMO and of course they backburner him almost immediately. They even made him wear a clown wig.
If Sarah Brown was expecting to find better writing at B&B than she had at GH, she better prepare to be disappointed.

I don't think B&B is that bad right now. They're doing a good job of expanding the cast and besides Steffy, they've been very successful. The problem is finding interesting stories for Stephanie, Eric, Brooke and Ridge, the core four. Taylor, Thomas and Steffy just need to go. I also want to see Felicia and Thorne tied into things. They've been on the sidelines too long.
I'm looking forward to Sarah Brown and I hope they don't screw it up. B&B is definitely on the upswing. Not perfect, but it's getting there.
