I liked your solution to Y&R's casting woes. Is it just me or has the show just stopped in its tracks since Maria Arena Bell became sole headwriter? It's not bad like LML's Y&R, just unsoapy and boring. She may be a Bell in name, but I'm not convinced yet of her talents.
On a positive note, I just finished todays OLTL and was so entertained, it is now on my DVR list. I look forward to rediscovering this soap!

Thats awesome. I wish more people would re-discover OLTL (or even discover it for the first time) so that its ratings would match its superior quality.
Absolutely agree with the Sarah Brown suggestion. I had thought about that actually when I heard Sarah Brown was coming back to daytime as Claudia on GH.
But lay off Chris Engen (Adam, Y&R) already man. Sheesh. He is doing a fine job!

I know I generalized it myself, but I agree about Engen. I like him a lot. I would like to see Sarah Brown in the role of Victoria however. Amelia Heinle is good but not edgy enough for the role. I've never really warmed up to her Victoria. She reminds me of when Brenda Epperson assumed the role of Ashley in the late 80's. She was fine, but not great in the role. Eileen Davidson had that soft and bada** side to Ashley that she lacked.

I agree. Soap ratings are so dismal, OLTL in particular, I realized how important it is for all of us to get behind shows when they are being lauded the way OLTL is right now. Increased viewership will hopefully let the fools in charge know that we like what we see and HOPEFULLY that might have a ripple effect.
I completely agree with you about the DAYS episode with Sami recounting the less flattering aspects of John's former self to him last week. It was a great use of flashbacks, and roboJohn and Sami to have good chemistry. Also, between the flashbacks and Marlena's reaction to John learning about their past, we're being reminded about the different dimensions of Marlena's character, and it's working really well with the story. This is why I disagreed when people said the John's death story had no impact.

That's my thoughts exactly. But to be fair, I've barely watch OLTL for the last few years or since Dena took over. That said, I've always thought JPL was a hottie with a nice body but that was it. He has grown on me so much since RC took over and I'm like, awaiting his time on screen. I don't do that for any other character on the show(except for Watkins when he's around). Like you said, that's what tremendous writing does. It makes you care.
And I agree with you about everything regarding Y&R. Shame Guza isn't doing right by Brown on GH but she would make a fabulous Victoria. Seeing her go up against Braeden would be heaven. Brown would eventually dominate the show. She would school everybody, including Queen Bee Michelle Stafford. Then adding Pelphrey as Victor Jr. It would send the show into overdrive.
I always said that it would be hot for Adam and Nikki to hit the sheets, but not with Chris Egen in the role.
First let me say this, i'm shocked that Y&R is still investing so much story time into David and Nikki because (and i like him as an actor), Vincent Irrizary has NO chemistry with Melody Thomas Scott. NONE!
It looks like the writers are painting David into such a corner because of his gambling problems, that David's days in Genoa City are growing smaller each day. I'm sure he will be off the canvas by mid-summer.
Enter, Adam, who willbe the one to help expose David and help Nikki get over her grief and despair. But, at this point, i don't see Egen as the kind of actor to pull this off. While he has grown since his debut, he isn't right for this role. Egen looks like the virginal boy next store, so cute and innocent.
For the scheming, conniving Adam, you need an actor who can be as sweet as pie one minute, hot as hell in the bedroom, and then go toe to toe with Daddy dearest at the drop of a hat.
Paging SEAN KANAN!!!!!
That guy smolders and he and MTS would set Y&R on fire. I see him banging Nikki and getting a little bit of Sabrina on the side just to get back at ole Vic for abandoning him and his mother.
If Brad Bell is refusing to bring back Kanan as Deacon, then Y&R needs to scoop up this hot piece of daytime real estate.
Sweet as pie one minute. Hot the next. That sounds like Chris Engen. He has a sweet young face, looks like an angel. He appears to be playing a character who is conflicted between his ambitions and his upbringing on the farm. He is perfect. People are unsure which way he will go. I love him, he's the best casting in years. (Sean Kanan is more less subtle and interesting.)
Well i'd love ot see Lisa Peluso back on daytime--she was always one of my favorites... and Sarah Brown as Victoria sounds perfect to me, Amelia Heniel has just never had the same spark that Heather Tom had, but Brown could pull the role off very well.
Ron Carvalit, you are my hero!
