Some people, if they don't know, you can't tell 'em.

I am sick to death of this Ponzi scheme storyline, because the only one in it making sense of Phillip. I find it insulting to see characters like Daisy and Beth defending him like he's a lost and wounded puppy when he's really pond scum. Heck, even Philip is whining about all the mistakes he made as a father when all I want is poor, pity-me James dragged out behind the station house and shot like a dog. Am I supposed to sympathize with his character? What a tone-deaf storyline!

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."

I like how they used Peapack to be other places like Bosnia, Germany, and now California. Suspending my disbelief.

Having Ed Baur back and gearing up for the Baur BBQ is going to be nice to see.

When they first did that, I got angry. It looked like they used Reva's backyard to double for Bosnia. The only outdoor scenes on this show are dreary, anonymous woods, to guarantee that nothing is identifiable as what it really is. Throw in an urchin and a nun doing bad Eastern European accents and boom -- Bosnia!

Nope

you know whats odd for me... despite the fact i don't watch GL on a regular basis i've found myself watching several scenes this week---if i'm flipping through the channel i can't help but stop and watch. The Olivia/Natalia storyline is of particular interest to me and has captivated me.

Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

Maureen Garrett Returns to Guiding Light
Submitted by Melodie on July 11, 2009 - 6:56pm

As I reported months ago, Maureen Garrett is returning to Guiding Light! According to CBS.com, Garrett will reprise her signature role as Holly Reade beginning August 26th. Also, check out Liz Keifer's twitter to find out who she will share her first scenes with (Olivia & Blake!).

.............Great news, albeit a bit too late. I am hoping for some great scenes with Liz Keifer and rest of cast and know that the stunning Garrett will deliver! Always one of my faves and a daytime half of the awesome Holly/Roger supercouple......

Garrett was great and she was on when I started watching when Roger's son kidnapped her and took her to the Island where Roger did.

I liked the scene between Philip and Beth during Bill and Lizzie's wedding 7-13-09.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

Tebow 4 Heisman...again

If I was writing the final episodes, I would have rebels from San Cristobel kidnap Reva, and then Reva faces a firing squad...but that's probably not going to happen, but it would make a great final shot for the finale...

reva realizing she's going to he!! would be the perfect gl finale because historically she is a true b&&ch. though this pm wouldnt make it convincing but if harmon-brown and essenstein were writing, they would make that believable based on how they wrote her.

Does anybody else find this Alan Spaulding subplot disgusting? Suddenly Phillip discovers that someone died in Alan's place in a war -- Vietnam, Korea, War of 1812, I don't care -- and it all makes sense! Alan is a liar, cheater, despicable father, unrepentant murderer, and accessory to kidnapping because he feels guilty for letting a man die in his place! ... Um, what?

Now it looks like GL is going to use this senseless Band-Aid not only to redeem Alan but excuse him for everything he's done. I think it would be a terrific finale if someone mowed him down with an semi-automatic and the entire cast dances on his grave on September 18. Looks like instead we'll be throwing a party in that reprobate's honor.

upchuck

That Mortal Kombat/Memoirs of a Geisha hat Dinah was sporting today (her wedding day!) was disgusting! And it looks like the redemption of Alan Spaulding is on and I for one am fine w/it b/c I like the character when he shows humanity and Ron Raines is one of my favorite all time Daytime actors.

The problem is, Alan Spaulding has never been repentant, and his crimes are beyond the pale -- he murdered Tammy, and he was an accessory after the fact to the kidnapping of his granddaughter Lizzie. Suddenly we're supposed to feel sympathy for him because he let another man die for him in a war!? He feels really bad about that but had no qualms about killing Tammy or shooting his son Phillip!? Are they serious!? It's a whitewash, and I find it disgusting that the writers are letting Alan off the hook instead of honestly facing up to his crimes. I've been dying for the show to give Alan some humanity, since he's turned into a cartoon villain, but redeeming him this way doesn't show humanity to me. It just makes the writers look scummy for thinking this little twist excuses everything he's done in the last several years.

Katherine Chancellor and Michael Baldwin Head To Springfield
Submitted by Melodie on August 4, 2009 - 11:18pm

CBS Soaps In Depth is reporting Young and the Restless stars Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) and Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) will be making a guest appearance on the final episode of Guiding Light. Naturally, GL is denying these two Genoa City citizens in Springfield, but what else is new.
