I'd like to see Debbi Morgan pull it off in the lead-actress race for All My Children. She was powerful in the Angie-and-Jesse train station reunion as well as in the fear over seeing [Angie's] son possibly return to Iraq. A fantastic actress.
Rankings (#1) 1. Jeanne Cooper (Katherine/ex-Marge, Y&R) 2. Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R) 3. Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC) 4. Laura Wright (Carly, GH) 5. Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, B&B)

top five 1.jeanne cooper,y&r 2.melody thomas scott,y&r 3.debbie morgan,amc 4.laura wright,gh(but i'm really getting bored) 5.maura west,atwt
biggest question mark: will stafford pull out? will she be trumped in the prenoms if she stays in? alternate nominee to replace laura wright could expand to six with crystal chappelle and kim zimmer,gl.
best actress:all of them are equal except west. strong case: they all have a strong case upset: as we all know, none other than erika sleazak.
debbie morgan is my choice to win. sleazak would trump everyone with a nod.
does anybody think that Dee Hall will get a surprise nomination as a show of support for her legacy in the industry?
My current school of thought:
Jeanne Cooper, Y&R Debbie Morgan, AMC Robin Strasser, OLTL Erika Slezak, OLTL Laura Wright, GH
Jeanne Cooper seems like a lock to me. She's in the midst of a big storyline playing two characters, this is something that the Academy likes (ask David Canary, ask Erika Slezak)...
Debbie Morgan---she's the big return that helped AMC revive itself and she's beloved in this industry--she's worked for years and probrally knows everyone in the industry.
Erika Slezak- She had her biggest storyline of this decade and was a major part in OLTL's amazing transformation last year. She has very strong tapes to pick from and could basically pick something from any part of the year.
Robin Strasser-If she submits either the B.E. takeover or the 40th Anniversary tapes (with Mel) than she's a front-runner for sure.
Laura Wright---She had the type of material that is so definetly Emmy-bait. A mother coming to terms with her son being in a coma and having to decide wether to pull the plug or keep him breathing... breathless. She came alive. She should get in easily.
Other choices:
Susan Lucci, AMC: Erica Kane has been transformed and she's giving career defining performances.
Noelle Beck, ATWT: she took over a difficult role and has done a great job at it, this could net her some support.
Kassie De Pavia, OLTL: depending on the pre-noms she could get in and would be justified in being pre-nommed; she had some great scenes with Todd this year, espeically when Blair finally opened up her eyes and realized what Todd had done (when she learnt starr was pregnant).
Susan Flannery, B&B: I believed she was last years front-runner and was more than stunned when she was left out all-together.
and of course Crystal Chappelle, Maura West and Michelle Stafford along with Kim Zimmer are names that should always at least be thought about. either one of these could fill in for any of the other ladies.
I want to go on record and say i do not believe Melody Thomas Scott or Katherine Kelly Lang will get in.
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

Slezak was more supporting in 2008...so i hope she does not ened up on the ballot. I would [refer Robin Strasser and Kassie Depaiva to make the Best Actress ballot.

Cooper will get in for sure, but either Melody Thomas Scott or Katherine Kelly Lang is going to get screwed over again, and i'm afraid it will be Lang.
Both were frontrunners last year, and NEITHER one got a nom. I can't see the Academy screwing over both again this year. That's why i think Scott will slide in...while some non deserving diva takes Lang's position.
I liked the 3 pre-noms as well because that helped mitigate the politicking that goes on. I still can't get over that not one of the nominees in 2008 would have been in my top five choices. What a lackluster bunch of nominees. I'm bracing myself for the same thing this year. I expect the same nominees with someone taking Forrester's spot--probably Slezak.

Melody Thomas Scott, Katherine Kelly Lang and Debbi Morgan are MUSTS in this category. The sad thing is that I doubt any will be nominated. Morgan only because she's on AMC and they haven't seen much Emmy love in recent years. Would be a crime to see her passed up though.
