Nelson, in all seriousness, you really need to drop the constant Barbara Bloom bashing. It's hurting your credibility as a journalist and it's beneath you. I'm not defending her tenure at CBS or her treatment of you, but we get it you hate her guts. Move on.

WOW! What a huge mistake on the part of Ron Carlivati to not tap into the gold mine that could have been David/Tina scenes with Watkins and Evans, saddling Tina instead with the Vegas and her boring daughter. Big time downgrade in my opinion. I guess nobody's perfect.

I know it's getting ridiculous. It's really immature.

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

I don't mind the Bloom bashing. I wish more soap journalists had the guts to do it instead of kissing A S S all the time. My only complaint is that he should also be bashing Frons who has allowed GH to become unwatchable, OLTL is not living up to its potential and AMC is still a mess.

Hurting his credibility? Because he's doing what a journalist should do by trying to get to the bottom of why that hack has her job in the first place?!?!

I say call her out until somebody wakes up and does something about it. GL at 1.5 certainly doesnt help her case any. Anyone who let televisions longest running drama become this awful obviously doesn't care about what makes good daytime TV. Barbara Bloom deserves more crap than what Nelson is dishing out, I just wish there were more journalists who would do it.

Why aren't passionate and smart people allowed to have a voice anymore and are dismissed as "ridiculous" and "immature"?

Is there a link available for the preview Barbara Bloom gives Carolyn Hinsey? All the commentary relating to that is professional criticism, no worse than what's been written about others who were doing their jobs exceptionally poorly.

I'm glad Barbara Blooms head is finally out there on the chopping block. Her lineup has slowly gotten worse with her in charge.

Look, I will say it again, I did not hate all LML's ideas. Her execution is what I had a problem with, but Blooms erroneous mismanagement of those two years really hurt the show. She's the head honcho in charge, so I blame her more than I blame LML for damage that was done. Personally I wish they'd fire her you know what.

I read the Hinsey column. The best thing I can say about it is Bloom answers a question by changing the subject and moving on to something else. Can't really blame her, she has nothing to proud of or brag about.

Actually, I'm getting LOADS of support and love from the daytime community. I'm shocked at how many people hate that woman. And how many people she cost their livelihoods. Look at the ratings, she needs to be fired. Allowing GL and Y&R to sink to new depths, classic soap staples, will be her legacy. Poor thing. I'm not her biggest problem. And I hear that Les Moonves has read my stories and is taking action.

Nelson - I certainly hope you are right about Les. Every day I continue to be blown away by the ineptitude at Y&R. Memo to Barbara Bloom and whoever else is responsible:
(1) Why should I care about a 7-year old girl I don't know singing at a night club?
(2) Why should I care about who appears on the cover of some ridiculous magazine and whether they are dressed as an old fashioned movie star or a Palm Beach socialite? (I am embarrassed for great actors like Bergman and Stafford having to spend months reciting drivel in front of a Dell laptop.)
(3) Why should I care about a prior offscreen romance between some European hack actress you've shoved down our throats and some strange man I've never seen before?

I could go on and on. I am frustrated and sad about the state of this once-great soap. I know the "rolling over in his grave" metaphor can be overused, but Bill Bell could not possibly be happy about the current state of his one-time national treasure.

She's also behind Victoria Rowell's absence.

Les is micro-managing her at this point, and he's not happy about her directive about proclaiming Y&R number-one at the Emmys!

I like that you said this. I keep hearing there is going to be edge of your seat drama coming up. Problem is, I'm still not invested in a lot of the stories, so I'm afraid when the big moments happen, I won't care.

I did giggle today when Devon's niece sang at Indigo. Its ridiculous that a child is singing at a nightclub.
I'm also done with the Victor/Sabrina boremance. That character needs to go. The pregnancy makes me like it even less because there is such a disregard for history there. The writers may have forgotten Victor had a vascetomy, but we haven't. We spent most of the 90's watching desperate women fight over his frozen sperm. I'm not quite sure how they are going to write their way out of that one without alienating more viewers.
Lastly, I too could care less about Restless Style. Snoozeville.

On a positive note, I am thrilled to see more tension between Kay/Jill. The Adam/Heather romance interests me and with the Victor/Jack feud heating up again, I cross my fingers and hope. Time will tell.

What's really ****ing me off is the David Vickers situation. What's going on here? Is Tuc Watkins deliberately asking for scant material? I'm confused here. We're going through this entire debacle with Jared being the fake heir and yet David is in Llanview the entire time but nobody is saying anything. Yet we get a David and Addie marriage(not that they aren't a scream) with David doing little more to provide comic relief. I ask again, what's going on here. If Watkins is going to be on the show and David is going to be a crucial piece of storyline, then I need movement. RC needs to get that under control.

Tuc is coming back; looks like his stints will be winter and summer hiatuses on OLTL because of DH.

Happy to see David go, his stint was annoying this time around.

What luck for rulers that men do not think.

I hope CBS intervenes with Bloom, too, Nelson.

re: ATWT's ratings slide: I couldn't agree with you more. They will blame the Nuke storyline, rather than the absence of Byrne and the absence of great storytelling, with the exception of the Nuke and Emily/Casey storylines. They are they only ones I don't fast forward through anymore.

And, mark my words: West will eat Beck for dinner and spit her out during the confrontation scenes. Please bring back the REAL LILY!!

I say Les and CBS needs a "clean sweep" at CBS Daytime, from Bitchy Bloom down to the janitors.

Right now, Y&R and B&B are at their worst creatively, and GL and ATWT look like train wrecks.

Now's the time Les to ditch the old and bring in the new.

And Nelson, you just keep writing what you're writing. You are one of the very few journos who have the balls to tell it like it is.

My thoughts???

Susan Flannery should take over the helm at CBS Daytime when she retires (if we can wait that long). With her expertise as a director, actor and producer, plus her knowledge of the medium and Emmys, she would be the perfect person to oversee CBS lagging daytime schedule.

Thoughts???
