The past week of OLTL was stellar. The writing was great..and the performances were great!1 The whole cast was terrific. I love that Ron is back at the writing helm. Looks like a great May Sweeps!!

The David Vickers stuff has been great so far and Tuc is awesome as usual. The Langston/Markko/Dorian scenes were fantastic. I even highly enjoyed the Snoop stuff. I am not at all interested in the Rex/Adrianna wedding stuff. I just want Adrianna to get lost so we can get on with a Rex/Gigi/Brody story, that I want to see! I am looking forward to the coming week with the Starr/Cole/Todd previews it looks like it could be good.
I just saw the promo for this week on youtube and it truly looked great and exciting. The wedding of Adrianna and Rex, Langston and Dorian, and Starr and Cole on the run.
I really wish OLTL would go into the vaults and restore the Peabo Bryson-led opening theme. Forget Snoop Dogg and the other themes they've had over the years!
i wish they would go back to the satin sheets opening that was used in the 1990's--the one with the crying lady, the breaking wine glasses, and so on and so forth... i LOVED that opening, but also loved the one about "at the rainbows end" with the cast pictures superimposed over images of the city.

Without a doubt, the best OLTL opening was the Peabo Bryson version from 85-92. I didn't like the Satin Sheets opening because I don't like any soap opening that doesn't include cast shots. The only exception to that rule for me is DAYS, which should never change its classic opening.
Although was still somewhat intersting during the tragic writers strike-many scenes got ffd through. Then starting about May 5, the pace, dialog, acting, directing, cohesion to each episde has been stellar and not to be missed. I love Farah Fath's Gigi and I think that's what's really been the glue that keeps me watching. Her pairing with Rex has screen magic and those characters are so connected to so many other characters that you just keep being intrigued. Also the slow fall of the house of cards that are Charlie, Rex and Jared is shear brilliance. You know that the payoffs for their stories will be absolute joy to watch. That's the reason Carlivati has become the best head writer since Michael Malone's first reign-and that was about ten years ago! You are rivetted to that screen when nearly every one of the characters intersect. And to give Slezak this many chances at comedy is a gift for both her and us. The actor playing Cole looks and sounds too old but the beautiful and graceful young actress playing Starr has me so hooked on that story. He should be replaced so this story can have an even bigger impact. Either replace Trevor St. John who has made Todd just a miserable psychotic s.o.b or drastically humanize that character. His scenes are painful to watch and not in a good way. Anyway, the Emmys are usually wrong but if this year they get it right, Carlivati and the show itself will take home the big prizes.
I watched Guiding Light since the spring of 1981. I can't watch five minutes of it now. It's horrific in all aspects. This story about making the Reva movie should have us glued; instead, it's a poor dreadful mismash of all the worst elements of the show these days. To showcase the most interesting character and then give us this, is a disgrace. I hope Zimmer's got a good lawyer who can get her out of the show before she, like the show, becomes even more of an embarassment.
I have to say that OLTL has been slowly building a fire this week that's about to burn up and explode. I have been a little skeptical of all the RC praise in the past, wondering if all the praise was coming to soon and based only on the Tommy storyline, but I think his work right now has been wonderful and is Soaps 101 and then some. And his rejuvenation of Robin Strasser's Dorian has been beyond exciting. Keep up the great work!!

Actually i created an offical thread for each soap, because i noticed several posters were filling up the forums with multiple posts about several different soaps--and i mean threads for like every character and every story so it's better this way.
