Outstanding Younger Actress
Rachel Melvin (Chelsea, DAYS)
Caitlin Van Zandt (Ashlee, GL)

Kristen Alderson (Starr, OLTL)
Julie Marie Berman (Lulu, GH)

Outstanding Younger Actor
Van Hansis (Luke, ATWT)
Darin Brooks (Max, Days)
Billy Magnusen (Casey, ATWT)

And there is a lack of younger actors in Daytime...or good ones for that matter hence why I had to pick Bradord

I would also nominate Jennifer Gareis (Donna) and Ashley Jones (Bridget) both from B&B in the supporting actress field, B&B has had lots of great material from Storm's suicide and Katie's heart transplant, to Bridget's and Nicks and Katie's love triangle, Taylor and Rick's may-december romance...

ALL HAIL COLLEEN ZENK PINTER (Barbara, ATWT) BACK IN TOP NOTCH form, gone are the backburner days, I love this lady in front and center action, as mommy dearest who would do anything for her children, LOVE IT!!!

What do you think, did I miss anything? I tried to be fair with most soaps, no matter how bad you think GH (and I do) has been, got to give them applause for Maurice Benard's and Laura Wrights' scenes as their son lay dying... WOULD YOU GIVE THE WOMAN HER EMMY ALLREADY!!

As for GL, what a difference these past few weeks have made, with the birth of Max and his death it elevated the whole show to a new level and created lots of Emmy worthy material, as usual, the women prove to be the core of GL

Bradford Anderson is too old for the Younger Actor category, he was on the Pre-Nod list this year for Supporting Actor.

Love the CZP praise. Would have to add ATWT's Ellen Dolan (has had some great scenes this year, with the best, I suspect, yet to come when she discovers Emily and Casey together.) Kelley Hensley and Marnie Schulenberg. Also, Debbi Morgan from AMC and OLTL's Strasser.

What about Debbi Morgan (Angie) and Darnell Williams( Jesse) from All My Children in the lead actress and actor race??

Also, All My Children needs to be considered in the best writing and series race?

hehe sorry about that Awadshq, well that just means I don't feel bad for taking him off the list, as for Allan I am with you on what you are saying... I wish GL was better, it used to be top notch now it is barely watchable

All I know is that right now the race is still widely opened. There have been many equally fantastic performances this year, and while some have excelled with great materail (Strasser), others have done a damn fine job making their show watchable (Dolan).

all good points, at this point it is anyone's game, but I just thought these actors had amazing reels so far, and if the year continues they are front runners, Dolan will probably sneek in there (I hope) but I wish the Emmy voters would recognize many of the actors and stop nominating the same people year after year, it's about time B&B got more recognition than Susan Flannery, that AMC nominated Alicia Minshew (who has done amazing work every single day that she has been on, even overshadowing La Lucci), and that Jon Hensley got a nod for Holden, not to mention where is the love for MST?! This was an outrage last year when she wasn't nominated over Jeanne Cooper who had a whopping 12 minutes of storyline and somehow managed to get the Emmy (I am betting it is because of name recognition)

Speaking from the standpoint for ATWT, because that's the only show that I watch on a daily basis.

I say that ATWT is at its turning point right now. I say that with both the Casey/Emily and Holden/Carly reveal upon our horizons, that this should see great performances from almost everyone in the ATWT cast. So don't count them out yet.

I agree with Allan, that CZP is at her top form and should pull out some great performance as is Ellen Dolan. I gotta say that right now at this point, ATWT is must see TV.

Ok here's a new twist to the list... which show or shows do you think has/have the least chances of garnering many nominations

I am putting my money on Guiding Light at the moment, but judging by how the Emmy's work, I'm scared to say ABC shows might get the shut out, OLTL never seems to rack many nominations though it deserves a lot of wins by now... I'd like to see Y&R get a minimal # this year...instead of block voting...

what do you think?

That's an interesting question. Obviously a lot of this will depend on how voting is done this year, and whether the cries of block voting on the part of some CBS shows will cause a major reform. Generally speaking, I think One Life to Live has caught on like wildfire (six months ago there seemed to still be a fair number of naysayers here, for example, but now I think we're pretty much all converted) and will as a result garner a pretty good number of nominations. Y&R, on the other hand, I feel like will experience a small amount of backlash and not do nearly as well next year as they did this year, despite having what will likely end up being a better year overall. The industry seems warmed up to DAYS, and since the show's been so far better this year than last, with added social awareness with all the eco-friendly dialogue and the autism story, I think they'll probably do about as well as they did this year. Also, because they've only been renewed for a year, they'll be facing the same cancellation problem at the same time next year, which could again inspire a swell of support. GH and AMC will I'm sure do a least a little better than last year, and given what's happening over at GL, I can't imagine them not doing a good deal worse.

That's just my general thought.

Let's just say that some of the people who are deserving probably won't get nominated.

…between 40 to 50 percent. (Conservative estimate, of course. One has to consider potential prenoms chaos.)

I am thinking more ATWT will sneak into the race with deserved nominations, and this year B&B stands a great chance if Bill Bell continues to write his show well...who knows what Kay Alden will want to do...

I wish GL was better now it has to go back to regular camera format, but I for one am glad the Boudreaux are perhaps making their way back to the front burner...

My guess is that CBS will once against conspire to monopolize the nominations. Not necessarily to the degree that offended so many. ABC's One Life to Live will get in more of the action because the nominating voters don't want to look too suspect.

OK move over other soaps, I sense GL will get more noms now that is has had an awakening and restructured the show about characters and storylines rather than gimmicks and no points!

Supp Actress: Michelle Ray Smith (Ava) her scenes with the death of baby Max will land her a nomination, mark my words...

with that nomination and storyline will come 3 more nominations, very deserved nominations I might add

Daniel Cosgrove (Bill) Supporting Actor
Gina Tognoni (Dinah) Supporting Actress (though at this rate she should put herself in Lead)
Crystal Chappell (Olivia) Best Actress

I think Kim Zimmer & Robert Newman have pretty decent chances as well with the ALWAYS Wedding tapes.

Also, Tom Pelphry has a typical and brilliant Tomp Pelphry tape when Jonathan is ranting and raving on top of Lizzie's car.

From what I'm seeing from CBS, I wouldn't blame them if they dominate. IMHO Eric Braeden is the front runner for Lead Actor right now, and Melody Thomas Scott is once again making herself known.

I would like it if Anthony Geary and Jeane Cooper did not submit themselves. In reality because they really have not done much this year.

Also because well Cooper has won her trophy, she is done unless she has a good story. Geary has also had is time in the son, but I love him.

This is an interesting year with so much more to come, the Tornado on AMC has potential to create more dramatic story, Y&R is bringing back Michael's dad, I am really looking forward to the end of the year with OLTL doing great ATWT and Y&R rising in quality, and even AMC has been watchable. The other shows have had solid acting GL, B&B, DOOL, and GH.
