i have to say this. i think oltl is improving and is the best show right now, but that is only for storytelling and events. as for the acting, i just feel they still have work to be done there to get acting nods. i think oltl will get three in kerwin, brier, and fath(who isnt really good but in a weak category) if their supporters(presumably amc) play their cards right, meaning they cant vote for everyone pre-nommed and ones that have the best chances of a nod(gh will probably support in those circumstances to help). i just feel that so many are asking of nominations on that show it could backfire for them.

Todays 1st anniversary episode was damn good. I found myself tearing up on many of the scenes. Seeing Erin Tprpey,Mark Derwin, Phil Carey, Stephen Markle, and Agnes Nixon(which the woman seemed to tear upacting with Erika Slezak),made me feel good inside and i got all nostalgic..making me tear up of course. I look forward to the rest of the week. I think it was Erin Torpey that really hit home for me today. The only gripe i have is that we have the newbies making appearances in the anniversary epsiodes....and the show left out Kassie Depaiva..a 15 year vet on the show. Now THAT is a kick to the damn face!!

I also agree that today's show was excellent. I so enjoyed seeing all the old characters but also loved how they had current cast members playing Chuck and Maria. It was a nice touch to the history.
And even though I always thought that she totally ignored OLTL for AMC, it was a hoot seeing Agnes Nixon as the 'creator.'

With all the praise of late for OLTL I finally started watching again last Monday after MANY years away. Of course then I read in here that last week was the worst week ever & it sucked. I kind of agreed, but being unfamiliar with a lot of the characters (& let me say Tessica really threw me for a loop, but of course how could I forget, Multiple Personality disorder is genetic!) I'm still going to give it a few more weeks.

That said, why oh why is it so hard to write anniversary material for long running shows! First I had to suffer through those awful ATWT Anniversary eps & now this! Yes the Vickie in heaven stuff was sweet, but if you're going to have characters go back in time, why pick a year when said characters weren't even on the show! It would have been interesting to see todays characters playing actual characters from OLTL's heyday, but this group didn't even exist in 68. I hope this isn't just a cheap way to get Bo past his daddy issues. I wanted to see Wanda, Vinnie, Larry, Carla & all the rest played by todays cast. Instead I get Cord's mom! Oh & the guy playing Chuck needs to invest some time in looking at some old clips. Slim Pickens in "1942", yes, Chuck at any point during his run on the show, NO!

I've seen six days of Mendorra & am totally sick of it & that Carlo Hesse or whatever his name is, is just a cheap rip off of James Stenbeck, the DiMeara's & a hundred other super bad guys from every soap I've ever watched. Of course the only thing nostalgic I've seen on the show is Carlo's daughter's haircut! I had an immediate flashback to the late 70's seeing that 'do.

And hasn't Vickie already been to heaven? Why is she so surprised? And I don't think Agnes Nixon was tearing up, I just think her eyes were watering from squinting so hard at the cue cards. But whatever, it was really good to see her.

Anyway, here's hoping they get Tina out of Mendorra & get her reunited with Vickie & hopefully Cord. I'm still very eager to see what this show can do.

The "heaven scenes" work. The scenes with Mel and Dorian work as well. Everything else is a cheesy mess and is casting a shadow over this celebration.

I would give Monday's show a 7 overall. The heaven scenes were great, the Dorian/Mel stuff stole the show, and I even didn't mind the Bo/Rex back in time stuff. The worst part of the whole episode was the Mendorra crap. Poorly written, terribly acted, and boring all the way around.

How great was it to see Erin Torpey? How I wish they would get her back as Jessica because I would love to see what she would do with Tess.

Monday's show was the first OLTL I've enjoyed in 2 weeks. The heaven scenes do work, the Dorian/Mel stuff was heavenly within itself for we fans, and even though JP & Bob Woods are over-acting the hell out of this electracution stuff, it's not awful. I agree the Mendorra stuff needs to end, NOW!

I WANT ERIN TORPEY BACK AS JESSICA/TESS! God, even as a tour guide through heaven she's a better actress than Bree Williamson. I'm over Bree - over her!!!

Last week was horrible, this week...turning around.

Robin Strasser and Stephen Markle have such good chemistry. Bring him back as Mel's twin or something! Give Dorian a love interest that will actually work! I literally cheered when the two of them met up.

Heaven stuff...it was ok. I would have liked to have seen a greater mix of "dead" characters but being that the audience of soaps is supposedly younger (that's who they're going after right?), they're going to keep the timespan to a maximum of 10-15 years.

Erin Torpey...I miss you so. Phil Carey was great to see. I'm glad he came back even though he left not under the best of circumstances. Agnes Nixon looks so frail. She is the Irna Phillips of today and I think soon we're going to lose her. Wouldn't it have been cool for Viki to meet up with Sloan Carpenter? He and Steve Burke are like her forgotten husbands....

Mendorra...put Sarah and Christian on that raft over the falls....see ya! Ship Tina to Llanview for a Tina/David/Addie love triangle.

I liked all the Heaven stuff, i thought it was great and the Bo/Rex stuff is fun too, i like it... I like that it showcased how the stories of the past are similar to today's stories. I loved seeing Ben, Mel, Asa and Niki Smith in heaven. I really don't mind the mendorra stuff, i am just glad to have Andrea Evans back (and from what i hear she's almost definetly back for good)--and TIna Lord.

My only gripe is that for an anniversary episode there were precious few clips from the past---i would have preferred a retrospective type thing where the cast sits around discussing past episodes and where they show tons of clips.

I did adore all the stuff with Dorian and David and oh my god Mel Hayes!

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

I'm all of a sudden enjoying the heck out of the Bo/Rex stuff and love how it's playing out a lot like the 1986 Francis Ford Coppola film Peggy Sue Got Married. Bob Woods was wonderful today.

I bet you that Rex as Bo is going to end up knocking up David's Mom so history will change and David will now be Bo's son.

MVP's of today's eppy were Strasser and Slezak. No big shock there they made crappy writing watchable and at some points heart-felt and moving. The shout out to the fans was a nice touch.

I never cared the Sarah was going over the falls; that entire plot fell flat; Cord and Clint's conversation made me miss Clint Ritchie, sorry Jerry you just don't cut it for me. As far as the 1968 story-line I would have loved if we got some new information about the Buchanans since they were not on the OLTL canvas when the show premiered.

Sarah and Chris went over the falls (with any luck, never to be heard from again), Carlo still has Tina, and Antonio is still in the dungeon. I'm guessing Talia is with Jonas. The whole Mendorra thing was by far the weakest link of the anniversary episodes. Get Cord to resuce Tina and get them back to Llanview so she can be with her family immediately.

So than it was really happening and it wasn't just like a dream or something. okay.

They also really need to reintroduce C.J., now that Tina and Sarah are on the show as well as Cord they need to find a way to bring back C.J. he could be almost anyone at this point.

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

it's been a meta-nightmare!
totally enjoyed seeing mark derwin(still smokin sexy hot as hell)& erin torpey. bring em back.
mel & dorian were fun, but dorian is gonna be dorian. case closed. i'm gonna miss david v.

mendorra is beyond atrocious. all the characters could die as far as i'm concerned. tina's return has been botched.
& 1968 is ridiculously campy. "jared" as clint & "natalie" as mexican maria. never mind "nigel" as chuck. couldn't stop laughing!
JPL IS JUST SO DAMN YUMMY SEXY. he & bob woods are fun together

If and when they bring back C.J., he should be gay. And then cast a black boyfriend for him.
