I'm guessing they decided to abandon that whole plot point just in case Trevor St. John ever leaves and Roger Howarth comes back.
I feel like the plastic surgery to look different thing is almost always abandoned nowadays. Like how Phillip on DAYS had plastic surgery and looked different after coming back from war overseas, but after basically a few weeks anyone who saw him knew who he was, and didn't seem to notice anymore that he looked different. Chloe certainly recognized him right away when she hit town. I hate the use of plastic surgery as a plot device. It annoyed me so much when Walker Laurence turned out to be Todd Manning. And in Phillip's case, it was almost totally pointless!
Toady wasnt bad. Best part was the Marty and John scenes and Bo and Asa making peace with eachother. Very touching. Gigi amnd Rex continue to bore the hell out of me with Fath's lame acting and stupid face expressions.

And in Todd's case it bugged me even more because they got rid of the scar on his face, which was always supposed serve as a reminder of the many bad deeds todd had done in his life and when he looked at it was supposed remind him what a scum he is.
Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

So true. I totally agree. The scar should have been left on his face.

Wasn't there a period of time were CC as Marty was on at the same time as TSJ? She could've seen him then. My memory does not go back that far, sadly, but IMDb does have them on at the same time around Nov 2007.
But I also think the whole removal of the scar is kind of significant too. Yes, the scar was a reminder of what he did, but he wasn't trying to remember. He's been burying those feelings for years. Perhaps the removal of the scar is also a way of showing how he tries to outwardly conceal his guilt and shame, but underneath it never fully went away.
Do you like that psych 101? Lol.

What is it that the Emmy winners for show and writing always self destruct shortly after the Emmys? Last year, it was GL and Y&R and this year it's OLTL and GH. OLTL is in such bad shape. The Marty/Todd storyline is offensive on so many levels and Carlivati's comment in the latest SOD are idiotic. Apparently, it's okay for a serial rapist and one of his victims to get together if the woman has amnesia. Is this man for real??? I fear what he'll bring next. I think it's time to fire him and Valentini.
I am giving Carlivati until the end of the yr. to make up my mind about him.
OLTL is the best soap on that network (AMC is also good too) and I think if Carlivati can try to make his mark by coming up w/a great storyline of his own instead of repeating history he'll be able to once again blow us away. IMO the Manning vs. McBain custody battle of last fall and late Jan. was a storyline that was all Ron and that was good.

I think saying it's time for Carlivati and Valentini to be fired definitely going too far. I don't love every storyline on the show, but there's a least a stability to it that doesn't exist for many of the soaps. Also, I still think one of the biggest problems in daytime is the revolving door behind the scenes. Yes, Bob Guza and Brad Bell are writing crap for the shows they've been writing for years, but their ratings are higher than most of the other shows that keep swapping EPs and HWs. It's hard to keep viewers on a show when you keep changing the basic idea of what the show is.

I'm all for consistency, but how many years do you get before it's time for someone new? Valentini has been EP for six years. On the technical side alone (which is supposed to be his forte), he's incredibly sloppy. The episodes surrounding Nash's death should have gotten him fired because of their poor craftmanship. Since the end of the writer's strike, Carlivati's work has been PASSIONS level. What should have been a week's worth of anniversary episode has turned into months. If this were any other soap, his work would not be tolerated. He gets a free pass because it's OLTL. The only storyline that is working is a storyline Tomlin wrote. Everything Carlivati has come up with has been a bust.
You're certainly right about the directing/technical ends of things, which have been pretty awful from the lightening that struck Bo and Rex to Nash's death and the BE takeover. But I think the writing will be in a better place within the next few months. Or I'm hoping it will.
I'm hoping and MAYBE starting to see slight improvements of where RC is wanting to go. Mendora will be wrapped up next week, HOPEFULLY. 1968 can't last THAT much longer, can it?!?!
But damn, has there been some sloppy, sloppy writing over the last month. Point in case: On Friday's eppy Todd says to Jess/Tess. "Oh is my sister back in town? I thought I saw her the other day!"
THE OTHER DAY!?!?! It was 2 1/2 months ago when you saw her and after a day, you did NOTHING about it and pretended like it never happened. That is beyond out of character for Todd and downright awful writing from the golden child. RC was so hell bent on telling this BEYOND AWFUL Mendora CRAP that he totally forgot Tina had a family back in Lanview.
"The other day!" You have GOT to be kidding me!

I thought that exact same thing. I couldn't believe he said, "The other day." With Mendorra mostly done, the show's a lot better. Some of the flows of conversation from one scene to another bother me also (and this happens on every show I'm watching). When Tess runs out of the doctor's office to talk to Todd, because she realized that he was onto her, she follows him home, and then, rather than trying to either convince him that she's not Tess OR assure him that she don't bother him about hassling Starr's doctor, she starts needling him about why he doesn't want Tina staying at his house and what he's hiding there. It was a complete nonsequitor from their previous scene. Just a minor complaint.
1968 can't last much longer, since Rex/Bo is supposed to be leaving for the Army in like five minutes.
YAY!! Rex and Gigi are back in 2008 and the 1968 crap is over. However it was kind of touching to see Tanner Woods on the show today playing his dad's character. Fath continues to ham it up and irk me all to hell!! Too bad JPL is stuck with her as an acting partner.
I also loved the Marty,Todd, and Tess scenes. I like the chemistry between John and Blair too. I didnt think i would..but i do. I am so happy to see Blair take off her damn rings she got from Todd and put them away. Another step in the right direction. U go girl!!
