e/w, if she submitted her name only when she had material for a given year, she wouldn't have her sixth Emmy. She had perhaps three good episodes for the entire year and she submitted herself. I would be floored if she chose not to submit herself this year. I was against her submitting herself for a month's work of performances last year, but this year would be even more egregious. You have Strasser, Williamson, and DePaiva who would be legitimate Best Actress contenders. I'm slotting them based on material rather than actual quality as I wouldn't put Williamson anywhere near an Emmy.
Originally posted by east/west: I'm glad you guys said something. I don't think Erika is one of those ppl who just submit her name just b/c. While the performance was hit and miss, I think it's Emmy worthy, but I don't think she'll get in for that when the stuff last yr was better. And I say all this w/her getting the pre nom and nom in my predix, so I guess I am contadicting myself but oh well.
I hear ya east/west Slezak is my second all time favorite actress in the history of soaps. I'm her biggest fan and yet her biggest critic. When she has the material I'm the first one to say " hey look at our gal now". And when she delivers it in the brilliant fashion that has made her an acting god, I go all town cryer and proclaim " Give her the emmy now!" Unfortunately over the two years of late, I've had nothing to cry about. The last time ( IMO ) when Rikki had the goods for a nomination she didn't even submit herself instead allowing her much younger co-star to take her place on the ballot. ( The year Viki discovered the origin of Tess' birth and her subsequent guilt and Niki's rightgeous anger over what had happened to Jessica as little girl was EMMY WORTHY )
Last year the Slezak waited tables in Texas and fans on this site were screaming EMMY! WTF for? Even more jaw dropping was that she submitted herself!! I love Erika Slezak but sometimes she comes close to being like that emmy fotze Jeanne Cooper. LaCoop submits no matter what, even when she's done absolutely nothing but wear MAUDE/BEA ARTHUR clothes all year -yuck ( Sometimes I LOVE Cooper's work and sometimes I'm ready to laugh my butt off and then go all Reagan/Pazuzu and start hurling chunks )
In any case this is Robin Strasser's year. If their is ANY emmy justice ( and the last three years of emmys proves that there isn't )LaStrasser will take her 2nd and LONG, OVER DUE emmy for best actress and not ladivina Slezak.

I hear you guys on Slezak. When she's on there's nothing stoping her, but the more I think about it Strasser had the entire first 6 months of the yr full w/great material, DePaiva is always strong and it's a shame that she's ben nom once, and Williamson is the only one I can say is a sure bet for a Lead Actress Pre nom. So I guess it's going to be one of those 3 up for Lead Actress Pre Noms. And to be honest I don't think Slezak is an Emmy whore like some of the ppl in Daytime and I think it's going to be Cooper who repeats (I my mind Cooper will win her first Emmy next yr., b/c last yr's win was bull).

I'm not sure why Williamson is a lock for a lead prenom. She's had tons of screen time and story this year, but she's hardly delivered on her meaty material. Strasser and DePaiva easily outmatch her, but who knows how the cookie will crumble.
Regarding Slezak, I don't know. She seems to submit herself an awful lot. Maybe she didn't throw her name in a couple of years ago because it would have made her (rather effective) complaining about Dena Higley's treatment of veterans seem somewhat disingenuous. Or vice versa. How could she be so angry about her lack of story and still think she's a lead?
I'm guessing Slezak and Strasser will get the Lead Actress prenoms and I expect Williamson despite uneven performances however she easily has two fabulous tapes to submit will lose out in the Supporting category to Kathy Brier and Susan Haskell who both have tour de force tapes to compete with anyone. Brier for her standout work in January and Haskell who easily(yes, including Jess Walton's histrionics) had the best November of any actor (male or female) on daytime.
For Your Cosideration Outstanding Drama Series One Life To Live

IF there is only 2 Prenoms per category this time around..then i hope Depaiva will be in the Best Actress category with Robin Strasser.

I PRAY OLTL does not hire Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall. Oh man..that would kill me. Those two are 2 of the worst actors in daytime. Some people are speculating that they may show up on OLTL. I hope not. I cringed when Andrea Evans was back...so i cannot stand anymore wooden and forced acting from new or returned arivals.

Deidre Hall is an amazing actress, and there are definitely already worse actors than Drake Hogestyn on OLTL. That said, I seriously doubt either of them will be showing up in Llanview. OLTL wouldn't offer them enough money to switch coasts, and I can't really see them fitting in anywhere.
Deidre would be a great Dr. Susannah Hanen recast. With Lindsey in jail, Clint now on the backburner, Nora needs some family ties....Susannah can come back to work with Jessica (since Susannah was successful with working with Viki's DID until Dr. Rae messed it all up.) Drake, no way no how. Send him to AMC.
I still say those two can just stay away from OLTL. Oh yeah..and they can stay away from AMC too..the other show i watch. Anyways...
I LOVED seeing Kassie Depaiva and Susan Haskell together again in scenes. I have been waiting for this for a long time since Haskell's return. They are magic together.

Ah....no. Nice try. But Hogysten is one of the WORST actors in the history of daytime. The only "actor" who can compete with his awfulness resides on B&B.

The writing has been on fire lately though.
The scenes between Starr and Viki were great today.
Yes i enjoyed the Starr and Viki scenes too. Kristen Alderson has been great the past few months. It is nice to see. Especially when earlier this year..the girl was so annoying and full of over the top and forced acting.

I've enjoyed Viki's performances for the last week or so. I'm really loving the scenes they are giving her to perform. She's done a wonderful job in the past few weeks, and I hope to see more. It was also nice to see Viki tell off Todd. It's about time she began to see his flaws. He really is alone now.

I have said it elsewhere- Susan Haskell WILL win the supporting actress emmy- over Jess Walton, Gloria from Y&R, and Kathy Brier.

I hope Haskell and Brier both get nommed. Haskell has been great as of late...but costar BRier will give her major competition too.
