Remembering the 1990's!

i can't say i noticed any of the things you mention cyrstal---to be honest i'm so captivated by the acting being done by the likes of Strasser, Slezak, Fumero (Melissa) and others that the few small lapses of quality don't seem to bother me, especially considering how poor the quality once was! and it will just be better and better as Marty and Tina return.

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

OLTL was great THursday and Friday. Bree Williamson delievered her Emmy winning performance this past Friday. That episode is aLOCK for an Emmy nomination. I was also happy Adriana told off Dorian again and hurt her with the truth of how her mother is. Melissa and Robin were totally awesome to watch.

Actually, Martha is late 30s, Robin early 60s. Won't give out their ages, as they are ladies, but it can be documented on the web. So I think it would be a great match, IMHO.

I noticed a lot of Crystal and MTSRocks's criticisms as well. I've never thought a whole lot of Bree Williamson, so I was kind of pleasantly surprised when she picked it up towards the end of Thursday's episode and then for Friday. I think Archer is consistently okay, but it bugged me when there was a scene, Thursday or Friday, when she was supposed to be crying but just had her face balled up with no tears. That's a pet peeve of mine. It also bothered me when John Brotherton, who I like a lot, seemed to be trying to cry at Charlie's bedside, but wasn't making any tears. March was great when he was dying, but before that was ridiculous. His facial expressions during the meeting really confused me. Slezak's head bobbling is something I've just learned to live with, so it didn't bother me. And really, I thought the shareholders at the BE meeting were intended to be comical. I thought they played better off Dorian's grandstanding than a straight, serious crowd of shareholders would have. The musical recap at the start of Wednesday's episode was kind of awful, bad enough to make me turn away if I had just tuned in.

The week's MVPs were definitely Ron Carlivati and Robin Strasser. I was so focused on Dorian during the meeting I almost didn't even care what the Buchanans were doing. And the writing really has been just fantastic. I love it that the characters feel so whole in that they aren't just people with intentions and personalities, they're people with histories that work themselves, some more subtly that others, into all their interactions. This is excellent work. And my criticisms notwithstanding, I absolutely loved watching these episodes.

Major props to JPL and Melissa Fumero. I always knew JPL had it in him; but Fumero stepped up, as she has been for awhile, and was just as magical.

The scenes with Blair and Starr also displayed with a realness factor most soaps can not muster.

OLTL is clipping along these days; but the real fun starts tomorrow.

Welcome back Andrea!!!!!!!

I agree on both counts... I loved Blair and Starr's frank discussion about abortion, motherhood and making life choices. I also like that Blair and Addie began discussions about Blair's father--that was a nice touch.

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

Thursday's episode was amazing. So much happened and it was not even a cliffhanger Friday. So wonderful to have Tina back and also Marty (though Marty was out of it in this episode). I knew Ramsey was leaving but was shocked to see him killed in the middle of an episode like that; then John being shot at the end. Todd spotting Tina. John finding Marty. Starr bonding with Marci and Marci with Sam/Tommy (leading seemingly to Starr giving her baby to Marci down the road). It was a very good episode of a very good soap. I can't wait for today's.

what a full episode it was indeed. I was however stunned at the fact that they shot John, i just didn't see that coming. I love that TIna's dog is named David Vickers, CLASSIC! I just cannot wait for the first Evans/Watkins/Spirtas scene it's sure to be classic and i'm sure Viki will be more than a little stunned to see not only Tina but Marty as well.

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

Ramsey had it coming, and I cannot say I am sad it happened. Did anyone else find Todd's reaction to the whole scene WAY too calm? He's either pure evil or was really in shock by the whole ordeal.

And yes, it is fantastic to have Marty and Tina back! They add wonderful chemistry to the show.

JPL might wanna "save the dates" for 6-10 and 6-11 because they are sure-fire emmy submissions.

BD, here is a brief summary of Cain's first story when he arrived in Llanview:

Tina devised another one of her patented, destined-to-fail plans. She was going to write a book about the trials and tribulations of the Lord/Buchanan families. Publisher Hudson King (Christopher Cousins) offered her a stunning salary for the work and Tina began spending a lot of time with him in his apartment in New York. But Hudson wasn't really Hudson - he was a con artist by the name of Cain Rogan. When Cord discovered the truth, he had a tough time convincing Tina of it. They staged a scene to smoke Hudson out. Cord would play the jealous husband and barge in on Tina and Hudson; when he saw what they were doing, he would pull out a gun in fury and fire a blank at Tina, who would then play dead. The ruse worked: Cord "shot" Tina and then threatened to kill Hudson, who hurriedly admitted he was not Hudson after all. Hudson was carted off to jail (though he was never actually sent there), while Cord had saved Tina from herself yet again.

After Cord's presumed death, Tina moved on with Cain and then Cord returned from the dead.

After years of on-and-off love, Cain and Tina finally readied to tie the knot on Valentine's Day 1994. Unfortunately, Cain's ex-flame Angela Holliday was still up to her old tricks. She hired a fake minister to marry the two and skipped town, mailing the note to Llanview shortly after Tina and Cain left on their honeymoon.

Tina and Cain's wedding shower was highlighted by an appearance from Bill Medley and Darlene Love who crooned "Soul and Inspiration" to the lovebirds. They were then married at Llanfair and went off on their honeymoon. The last we saw of them, they were running from an angry hotel manager who had rung up a huge bill that Cain and Tina couldn't pay. So, instead, they jumped out a window. In this way, Karen Witter and Christopher Cousins left the show.

Thanks for the details, syrus. I couldn't for the life of me remember how she exited the show.

I am very happy to have Susan Haskell back on my screen. I am anxious to see scenes with her and Depaiva once again. THose women are magic together. As for Andrea Evans..i can live with Tina being back in town. I just hope Evans will impress me with her acting. So far i am so so with her. Farah Fath needs to go..and SOON!! What a very mediocre actress. I was a fan at first..but for the past 2 months or so..not anymore!! Her botox lips..her stale fake acting..wore me thin long ago. OLTL needs to cut her loose from the show soon.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to agree with you. I never was a Fath fan on DAYS. Then, she came to OLTL and I was beginning to warm up to her, but she has been totally outshone by Gallo-Fumeros these past few weeks and seems to have reverted back to her acting of old days.
