Nelson, I love your Y&R edition. I'm in!!!

I also love that you included whats wrong with the show. It's important. Its the show right now that I'm either wrapping my arms around it and telling it I love it or I'm shaking my head in disbelief.

Ditto on Thom Racine's episodes. I also love Janice Ferri stuff too. But did you know that Wikipedia is saying that Thom Racina was fired by Barbara Bloom. True story! Here is the link.

Is that woman not the most toxic skank in the business?

I think Babs is petty more than a skank.

Nelson I am loving the YR+&R love b/c w/all those fan favs coming back for Kay/Marge umbrella storyline in Nov. it's going to make for good soap.
Like I posted earlier if anyone should be nominated in the Lead Actress category from Y&R its should be Cooper (loving Marge) and MTS.

Eric Braeden, Sarah Brown, & MTS sharing a scene is sopa heaven. CBS make it happen.

Nel....

You will have to try harder to win me over on all the Chloe/Liz Hendrickson love. I ain't buying it yet.

I so agree about the recasts of Victoria and Colleen, but i am a Christel Khalil fan, but my girl is stuck with writers who want to write that character as a teenage rather than a self confident, strong heroine. I want to see traces of her mother in Lily.

I'm over the "searching for Victor" story that we've been saddled with these last few months. His beloved granddaughter Cassie died a horrible death and Vic got over it in record time.

Sabrina, his wife of 5 minutes, dies and he's ready to take the cliff??? WTF??? The writers dropped the ball BIG TIME on this story. They,, IMO, made the great and powerful Victor seem like a weak crybaby.

Are the writers going to pursue this Heather medical crisis?? We all know she has a medical condition, let's just make it terminal so they can kill off this dull, dimwitted, dumb DA and give daytime's best male crier, Doug Davidson an Emmy reel. WOW, that's alot of D'S in that sentence...DAMN!!!!

Continuing on with the D'S, Don Diamont's Brad has been lingering every since David Chow (there i go again with another D), died. What happened to his impending trial?? I don't want to see Sharon fall back into bed with Brad...i want blondie back with her hottie ex. Nick and Sharon, IMO, are the proverbial young version of Nikki and Victor. They are Y&R's signature couple.

I am also not feeling the Amber/Daniel love. I love Graz, but i would love to see the show make Abby a 20something vixen and have Daniel go after some new meat. Ash and Vic's daughter dating Phyllis' porn addicted playboy son...yummy!

Loved Greg Rikaart's Kevin when he first came on Y&R...HATE the character now. The downfall started when mama Gloria came on the scene. Kevin is just a miserable, whiney brat.....ditto for big brother Michael (the scenery chewing champ, LeBlanc).

I agree my girl Bregman needs a big story worthy of her talent. Lauren needs to return to her bitchy ways, They have "domesticated" that woman beyond recognition. I'm still waiting for Lauren to give Michael the boot and hit the sheets with a real "man"....that sizzling sexpot, Cane.

My girl Kate Linder is FINALLY doing more than serving tea and i couldn't be happier. That woman has to be one of daytime's best comedic talents.

As for the Marge/Kay stuff...i am on board (for now). Let's see how it plays out. We all know Marge is going to die...everyone in Genoa City will think it's Katherine, who will probably leave town to seek medical attention, only to reappear alive and kicking in GC...just like all the others before her...Victor, Sheila, Nick, etc.

Why the show brought back Anna and Tyra is totally baffling. A waste of CBS money...money they can use to hire Tricia Cast back full time. (I'm still in gay heaven over that news).

Adding to my glee is the rehiring of Eileen Davidson as my beloved Ashley. Let's revisit the Ash/Victor/Nikki triangle some 20 years later...I LOVE IT!

So yes, the show is lookin good these days, but still has a few more hurdles to overcome. But you are right, it's better than what the other soaps are putting out these days...though B&B seems to be showing some signs of resurgance with the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor story and Rick's paralysis....

But we all know B&B...just like Rick's paralysis, this resurgance is just temporary.

I love that you are in love with Billy Miller as much as I am. The underwear scene was the best.

But I disagree that Maria Arena Bell has given MTS the storyline of her career. I understand that Nikki feels guilty about what happened, but I do not think she's stupid enough to blame herself to the point she has forgotten how she felt about Victor a few months ago. Also, I don't like that they're turning her against Phyllis again because Phyllis agreed with Victoria that Victor needed to be hospitalized, yet she isn't remotely upset with Victoria.

But I digress. Nikki's had a late term miscarriage, faced alcohol and drug addiction, lost a husband when he was shot to death next to her and nearly lost her own life in the same ordeal, buried a granddaughter, remembered killing a kid, suffered PTSD, started her own business and ran for the senate. I think she's had a lifetime of "storylines of a lifetime" that were much better plotted.

When the heck is Ashley coming back? I'm starting to think it was all ploy, but I keep reading that Ash is on her way. WHEN for crying out loud? Give me a date.

GIVE MERYL #3!!!!

Seriously, what is the deal with the Amber/Daniel love? What about them is appealing? Their self-involvement? Their whining? Their tiresome fights on "Loveline"? The only thing good about their coupling as they no one else has to suffer being in a relationship with them. The relationship that started with porn addiction and then wallowed through stupidity (LML's horrible storyline where they and Kevin steal money from a dead guy), infidelity, and manipulation is now one that I'm supposed to root for? I don't want these two paired with anyone but a good shrink.

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."

Dare I say I find Amber and Daniel to be a quite realistic couple? Especially in the non-soap opera conventional way. I don't mind them.

I'm still liking the show, and enjoying the groundwork being laid for future confrontations. Since Y&R is the only soap I watch these days, I really try not to complain as much, just enjoy what interests me.

What luck for rulers that men do not think.

Thom Racina was fired. I hope to speak to him soon to find out why. He was replaced with an AMC writer.

Thom Racina and Lisa Seidman were fired and replaced by Amanda Beall and Melissa Salmons.

I assume Racina didn't come cheap and getting rid of him as a scriptwriter was a budgetary issue.

And personally, Janice Ferri Esser is the best scriptwriter on the Y&R staff, and she also has a long history with the show. She captures the Bill Bell essence in her scripts more so than anyone else.

So sad! I liked Thom's writing style a lot and I became a fan of his after his podcast a few months back.

I was shocked to read it in Wikipedia, but because I hadn't heard it anywhere else, I assumed the info was wrong.

Barbara Bloom BLOWS!

You know I get a little ticked. Barbara Bloom is becoming synonymous with all thats wrong with the CBS line-up. Someone needs to can her you know what already.

She's among that group of recycled trash that's doing nothing good for the industry. They're cancers!

Aghhhhhh!

Racina's firing is NOT a huge loss for Y&R. I hated how his scripts always made Sabrina out to be the true love of Victor's life. He obviously knew very little about Y&R's history.

I thought his scripts were cheesy and MediaFan, he said in his ITZ interview that he was never a Y&R fan. He got the job because of his friendship with Sally Sussman Morina (his Co-HW on Generations) whose husband Anthony Morina is Supervising Producer of Y&R now.

His speeches were particularly cheesy. I recall one between Brad and Nikki that was Passions quality.
