If her contract was up, she did the right thing by leaving. The show will be off the air in three months and I respect her for not sticking around until the bitter end if she had options.
Somebody on this thread made some crack about how dead Ellen Wheeler's career is. I hope they're right. I'd hate to see her get her hands on another soap. What she did to GL was criminal.
i'm really not sure if i want gina tognoni as greenlee. she would then be shoved down our throats and propped up at the expense of dumbing down another actress such as melissa egan, and cameron matheson is a cancer to any actress. she wont get the emmy nominations she got for gl playing that role because greenlee can be quite boring.

True on all accounts, but perhaps with an actress of Gina's depth and personality the role would become fun to watch again?
I'd love to see her on Y&R or back at OLTL. i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Greenlee won't become fun to watch again unless the writing is there, whether Gina Tognoni, Rebecca Budig, or anyone else is playing the role. Is Rebecca Budig doing anything? With all the talk we've been doing about the shuffling and recasting of characters in her age group, I'm surprised her name hasn't really come up at all. I think I'm more a fan of Budig's than most people on here, but I'd love to see her play Victoria on Y&R.
Unless Pratt is lying, which I wouldn't be surprised if he was, Greenlee will be there for Rebecca Budig if she wants it. He's not going to recast the role.
Greenlee is a character i used to love until she became overexposed and they tried to center the entire show around her. I feel that Greenlee is a character that is best served as a supporting player and not as the female lead of the show. And it also didn't help that after Leo's death she became one of the most inconsistantly written characters on daytime and became very unenjoyable to watch.
I think that pairing her with Ryan was a big, big mistake because it never felt genuine to me that she would fall for Leo's brother instead of trying to move on with somebody else. And the whole Aidan thing did nothing to improve things. Simply put Budig's return was botched from the start.
Rebecca Budig is a decent actress but doesn't have nearly enough range or depth to be a lead on a show.
Gina Tognoni however is an actress that could take pretty much any role and bring it to a new level.

I don't think Aidan had anything to do with Greenlee not working. Sabine Singh's firing was cruel and Budig was unfairly blamed for it. Nothing she did would have made up for that. If TPTB had actually invested in an Aidan and Greenlee relationship [Singh and Turner were a charismatic ouple], it might have worked, but like most soaps, they had to force a relationship (Greenlee and Ryan) that did not work.
i think thats what i meant. budig was quite interesting before leo's death, but then amc went downhill, frons came on and started pimping the craze out of her and kendall and ryan, and having them victimized all the time to make them "heroines". if tognoni can do something with saint greenlee, that could be interesting maybe, though good girls on abc can get boring fast, no matter how good the actress is. also, i believe greenlee has almost ruined budig herself, budig is one of the showoffs of daytime now, being the spokesperson for this and that when she was on amc. i'm not sure i would want her on y&r.
