I am a HUGE Sean Kanan fan, Nel...and i loved this interview.
I always said Deacon was Brad Bell's best male character he ever created. Sean is one of the very few actors in daytime who has chemistry with EVER single actor/actress he is paired with. That is not an easy thing to do as an actor.
Needless to say, it was Deacon's torrid affair with Brooke that totally changed the face of B&B...and gave the show some of its best moments to date.
But for me, Deacon is being wasted in a ridiculous story on Y&R. The wrong Bell called Sean for work. It should have been Brad that called Kanan to reprise his role of Deacon, not Maria.
the character has much more potential for greater story on B&B. Him trying to steal Bridget away from Nick. During Ridge and Brooke's 137th breakup, it was the perfect time for Deacon to reappear and pick up where he left off with Brooke. And what about a Bridget/Nick/Deacon/Felicia quadrangle?? Imagine Lesli Kay and Sean on-screen???? HOT!!!!!!!!!
And props to Sean for staying sober. Way to go Sean. Continues success and happiness.

Anyone remember when he and Whip presented an Emmy, they entered the stage holding hands, and then did this whole "uggh we're guys, let's stop holding hands." schtick? Now he's prattling on and on about what real men are, but his photo doesn't subscribe to his real men concept with the rather feminine hands, but at least he's smiling with his eyes, so Tyra'd be proud. LOL!
Was this interview conducted before EB left Y&R? Or did SK and Nelson glean over EB leaving the show? As much as Nel likes SK, Deacon is still at the top of the pile of useless Y&R chars that need to go: Amber, Kevin, Jana, Daniel, Chloe, Esther, Michael, Gloria, Jeff, JT, Victoria and should Dru not return, Neil and Lily.
Why'd he bring up the orgasm? B&B was gross out TV back then with Deacon saying how great it was to feel his baby in between him and his mother in law Brooke during their romps. Brooke would run out of her office draped in sheets, and trusty secretary Megan would then change the sheets! Ewwwwww!
Deacon did not revolutionize B&B as SK claims. He was there to prop Brad's then fave Amber. Everything was about Amber, and when Brad tired of CJ/Amber, Rick sought Deacon to buy Little eric's custody. And Deacon had to be written off B&B when Bridget discovered Hope's paternity because the char was pretty much hated. The only time I didn't hate Deacon was when he was paired with Macy.
Deacon needs to stay far away from B&B since too many chars do nothing. Thorne, Whip, Rick and Nick have no storylines. B&B has enough stinkers with Ridge and Bill hogging the air. Justin recently joined the show, and he has potential, but the few good actors on B&B (Kay, Mills) are sacrificed for terrible ones like Diamont. With a big name like Sarah Brown joining, there's NO need for Deacon, and he's been ruined by raping Amber anyway.

SK is a great actor but Queen MAB ruined Deacon when she made the character a rapist. Would love to see him back on B&B and we can pretend this whole bad stretch on Y&R never happened.
Ok. Did you interview sexy Frank Valentini during the Emmys? If not, please interview him and put it up pronto, even before the Mulcahey part 2.
He won an Emmy for directing and gave one of the best speeches, he's one of the few people in Daytime that want it to survive, OLTL is facing cancellation rumors yet it's the soap that creatively and budgetarily is doing the best on ABC. And there's that interesting, outside the box, publicity generating mass same gender weddings arc. Valentini's a must for an interview.
He most likely has a bf/hubby/partner, and whoever he is is one lucky guy. Carlivati's been over interviewed by both TVGs, so Frank Valentini please.

Once with Carlivati? You interviewed him and MAB after the Emmys. But didn't you interview him when he assumed OLTL's writing reins? And he seems to have statements frequenty in Suds Report clarifying storylines and what not. It seems like he's everywhere with the Suds Report Emmy interview and Michael Logan's interview RE the weddings on OLTL.
Valentini's press shy. Interesting.
It'd be interesting to hear what he thinks of Daytime in general: the Emmys telecast, ABC moving AMC to the West Coast, OLTL's move to Amc's old studios, OLTL beating B&B and Y&R RE Tognoni, how Daytime's helping each other, James Franco's move to GH, the proliferation of gay characters and most importantly how Daytime can stay relevant and afloat.
I've never done a formal interview with Ron. I caught him on the Red Carpet at the Emmys, and then a few times I've spoken to him at events, but nothing like a sit-down interview ever.
Nelson this is a great interview, i love Sean Kannan he's one of my all-time favorite soap actors. I love that you asked him about GH, and i liked his answer, very juicy---we all knew ASJ couldn't act but that just makes it much clearer. I wonder if he would ever return to GH now that he's sober and it's a totally new environment. Maybe in a new role?
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!
