I loved Moniz. I never thought I could love anyone elses Dinah as much as I loved hers. I can honestly say though that Gina has made me love her Dinah more. If it were any other actress I dont think it would have worked. I would say Moniz could have easily been nommed for the Hart s/l.

Love Gina to death but Wendy will always be the true Dinah. Nobody can play bitter and manipulative Dinah the way Wendy did. Her fights with Cassie(LW) and Ross and Vanessa are legendary. She was always Emmy worthy. But like Tognoni as Kelly Cramer, she was never on their radar.
i watched briefly during this period and did think she was excellent in the role---in particular i remember her and Frank Grillo having sizziling hot chemistry together.

I thought Moniz was pretty damn good as Dinah. I didnt watch GL all the time then..but did sneak a peak here and there. But Tognoni has made the role her own now..and she is being rewarded for her portrayal.

Wendy Moniz was one of the main reasons I fell in love with GL. I started watching as Dinah returned to town and raised hell for Vanessa and Ross. She was SPECTACULAR and very, very dark and very, very funny. She could always cut very quickly to an ugly emotional place. Her Dinah was text-book definition of self-destructive.
For the 1994-1995 year, SOW put her on their Dream Ballot for Supporting Actress and she was frequently a Performer of the Week until her departure at the end of 1998.
I really adore Gina Tognoni in the role and she has definitely made it her own. It's a perfectly recast role, even if Tognoni is less dark day-in-day-out.
Tognoni (as OLTL's Kelly) and Moniz were never nominated for Emmys because it was the old, sucky popularity contest Emmys. With the pre-nomination system (until this year's Y&R cheating), Tognoni has finally been recognized. If Moniz was under the new system, she would have definitely won an Emmy as Dinah. My God, those scenes with Ross and Vanessa...as Mimi Torchin once described them "...the earth moved."
Yes she was definitly good and worthy of a nomination especially in her final work after she had just shot Hart Jessup, it was astounding work and she was truly magnificent and of course the Emmys neglected to nominate her.
Wendy is also the kind of performer that wouldn't last a minute in today's Daytime climate. She was the kind of actress that you had to watch everyday to understand her as Dinah or you would absolutely hate her.
you are so right PTP--she was so multi-layered that you had to watch her on a daily basis to see how she created the nuances of the characters and really developed the role... in today's daytime climate it's all about flash, show and how loud you can scream and how much you can cry---they don't seem to value subtle, nuanced actresses anymore.
