AMC: Mona's death and funeral was so heartbreaking. Susan Lucci deserved that damn Emmy for that year. She killed me with those performances. Especially when we see Erica cry out and practically throw herslef onto her mom's coffin. Oh man..i am choked up typing this out.

Though she ended up being alive, I would say Maria's "death" in 1997 (AMC). I was in the 4th grade and can remember sitting on my bead crying away when Brooke let Maria hold Maddie for the last time.
This storyline would bring Emmys to AMC in 1998 for Drama Series, Writing and Supporting Actress (Julia Barr, being the first - and to this day - only actress to have 2 Supporting Actress Daytime Emmys). It would be AMC's last win in all of these categories.

OLTL's Luna Moody Holden.....a week worth of crying for this death. The writing for this death was so touching and beauitful..and long. But it all worked and it was heartbreaking.

i agree that BJ's death on "General Hospital" is one of the best---it was so well-written all around--- i'll never to this day forget the look on Kristina Wagner's face when Felicia realizes that the heart maxie got is BJ's "No, No not Barbara Jean, NOT BARBARA JEAN's HEART"... Jackie Zeamen was so touching in those scenes and Lynn Herring, Brad Maule, John York, Jack Wagner and Stuart Damon also did touching work.
Luna on OLTL, Al on OLTL, Sam and Jen on OLTL were also well done
Dominique on GH
from AMC, Maria's death in 1997 was so sad, and tragic
Julia Barr was superb when Laura died because of the drunk driver--- that was tour de force work
Erika Slezak when Megan died...
Erin Torpey when her daughter megan died
on GH, Lila Quatermaine's death was very well done---to me the most memorable moment was Tracey showing her human side and breaking down "Mommy, i want my mommy"... and recently, Asa Buchanan's death on OLTL.

Patrick's "death" on OLTL. Even though it ended up that he didnt die. But on that Friday when it looked as if he did die in Marty's arms and she let out a scream of complete utter despair and severe anguish..man oh man..that KILLED me!! Susan Haskell was phenomenal. Especially that following Monday when Marty points to Todd and say he is not a man but a curse.

oh my god--that has to be my all-time favorite Marty scene EVER! "you're not a man, you're a curse--Don't, Don't-- Don't SAY MY NAME"

Jeremy's death on "Loving"... well, really, all the Loving deaths from the "loving murders" were sad and tragic...
i can't believe i didn't mention Stone's death on GH or Tony Joneses unneccesary death on GH---i still feel that killing Tony off was horrible and not using Brad Maule for all those years was simply idiotic.. they simply had no clue what they were doing or what kind of actor they were missing out on.
