I know JP has stated in articles that she doesn't write for sweeps, but come on, couldn't anything exciting be going on in Oakdale during May. I mean almost every episode ends with a close-up kiss between Katie and Brad!! Where's the excitement in that?
Well today we had three smoking couples: Nuke, Em and Casey and Katie and Brad. So much potential and yet the plots go far interesting to bland and back again. You have soap gold with these couples, just give them storylines to keep the viewers riveted. I still say that Brad and Katie were married off way too fast for such a supercouple.
Noah and Luke are so brain dead. I wanted to reach through the screen and backhand both of them today.
I can't stand the actor who plays Casey. I don't buy him as a straight man. If he were going after Luke, I might have some interest. While I know it might give Ellen Dolan and Scott Holmes material, I just find it icky. Have they not already destroyed Emily? Why does everything about her have to be who she's screwing?
I watched the last two days waiting for the kiss. I thought reports were it was going to be the 19th.

I almost missed it as I thought they were done for the day with the Luke and Noah stuff. It was a nice kiss although I thought it was short. I'm a fan of the gratuitous sex scene so I want more bang for the buck.
Crystal, I agree with you somewhat about Casey. I like the actor but I think he would've been better suited to play Luke's old friend Kevin, instead of Casey. Emily is too much of a "man-eater" for this incarnation of Mr. Hughes. From the time Billy has started, I get gay vibes from him. He looks like he'd fit right in, in a triangle with Nuke.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I am loving the chemistry between KMH and Billy. I can see where he would fit into the Nuke storyline, but I think he's also doing a great job with this storyline, much better than Zach would have/could have done. Billy is a much better actor, IMHO.
Ameera and Sofie are on their way out soon. Now if they would just get rid of those annoying twits, Liberty and Janet, all would be right with the world.
Re: No sweeps stunts. The latest ratings put ATWT next to last with its lowest rating (2.0) ever. Not surprised, as nothing has happened this May, while timeslot rival OLTL is on fire. Just hope TPTB don't blame the drop on Nuke rather than placing the blame on JP's unstorytelling.
Allan, ITA with you on Casey and Emily and their portrayers. I think that they have phenominal chemistry together. Albeit, I fully think that with someone like Zach Roerig as Casey would have really spiced things up, I am fully trying to give Billy a chance.
As far as the Nuke S/L goes. I'm beginning to become part of the conspiracy theorists that I think that there's more to the story here. I can't help to think that ALL TPTB's from P&G and CBS are totally trying to hedge on this S/L. I wonder how much money that Christian group contributes to advertise their CD during ATWT timeslot. And if this is truly the case, no wonder why they've wasted our time with diverting, distracting us this pathetic egregious Ameera plot trist. The fact that they used the Iraq war for purposes in this trite and convuluted S/L totally makes me sick and ill! I honestly that these TPTB had more decency than this!
Also, I like the arrival of Pinson on the show but again another talent being wasted on a character that won't be around for a long time. I agree with those here that wanted Pinson as the nuLily. NuLily is bland and forced at least that my opinion.
Since Goutman obviously doesn't give a sh****t about what the fans or critics thinks about ATWT according to his interview in SOD, then why is he in this business? He and JP outta leave and let somebody else take over the reigns. And as much, ATWT is somewhat faltering right now, I can't stomach watching OLTL no matter how good it is.

I agree with you, Caresa, re: Beck being bland as Lily. I really can't see her going head-to-head with West when the inevitable happens and Carly sleeps with Holden. With Byrne in the role, the fireworks would havee been lighting up the screen.
It's funny how much the show is creating conflict between Paul Ryan and Mike Kasnoff because of Meg. But when Mike Kasnoff was married to Jennifer, Paul and Mike really didn't have anything to do with each other. They barely spoken one word to each other. Even when Mike choose Katie over Jennifer, you would have thought that Paul would have some words with Mike but it didn't even fade him. What the writers could do to make this more believable is to use this history.
Also, since when did Sophie and Lily start looking like Meg???

ATWT has got to slow down its pace. It's trying to compete with the fireworks of OLTL and the problem is, RC has built all of this recent story telling kudos over time. There is so much potential in the Ali/Chris storyline, but no build up. Chris will be caught in brought down in a week's time (if that). Also, the Brad/Janet storyline has history built in it and potential conflict, but it's being written way too quickly. There is NO character development in ANY of the storylines, save the Emily/Casey storyline. It's all plot driven, not character driven and it's to the point of insanity in my book. No wonder the numbers have dropped so much in recent weeks.

Continuing in its Jekyll/Hyde vain, the last few days (especially Wednesday) were wonderful displays of storytelling by JP. Yesterday's episode was complete with Nuke, the Hughes, Snyders and Stewarts and was well written, tho still nowhere near to the home-run displays of RC on OLTL. The Allison/Chris storyline is ripe with references to history and could be wonderful if it doesn't end in just a week's time. Tying it into the Casey/Emily storyline and their growing feelings for one another is just icing on the cake. Love seeing Kim and Susan in scenes and look forward to some intense fireworks if the case does go to court. This is a goldmine of a storyline if done properly. Who's betting, tho, that it won't be given its justice?

I just tuned in ATWT, and I just turned it off. I have spent the last 30 minutes watching, and it has bored the hell out of me.
