The acting was great yesterday from Pinson and Columbino.
WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

Great stuff so far. Almost everyone has been on pt., once again Julie Pinson steals the show, in their performances.
The only one performance I am not feeling is Michael Park. Hopefully the upcoming "Not So Much of the Same Old" (holding you to that Mr. Goutman b/c it seems like you have taken yo head out of your ass and done away w/that 3 days a wk crap) Carly/Jack reunion will bring some great stuff from him.

is paul and emily likeable together? people at sc like them but not at cbs.com, but do the majority? and kreisman since he has come on, the one bad thing he has done is write emily into a wimp. i'm worried that peg isnt out of the picture. i hope emily does the dumping this time if they aren't.
yes atwt had to have had its best stuff yet all year with brad's death but i havent felt any strong performances by anybody and the best is surprisingly teri columbino. pinson is overacting a little too much in bits of this story. i was one of her biggest cheerleaders last year when she came on and others were calling her over the top. but this year, i just havent felt her. she seems really obnoxious and loud like peg bundy from "married with children" in a lot of her performances lately. its probably jacket. the sooner they end, maybe pinson can get back on track.
This whole Brad Death saga could have been ATWT's shining Emmy winning moment but there's been something lacking with it. Michael Park has been effective but not Emmy worthy but damn, it's this close. Surprisingly, well not so surprisingly, Terri Colombino has been hitting it out of the ballpark. She really deserves a Best Supporting Actress nomination. Don't get me wrong I've shed alot of tears watching these past few episodes but I don't know whether it's all nomination worthy. The writing has been outstanding. But it's still been unbalanced. I know that ATWT seems to be the only show that feels like it's necessary to have comedic moments in a drama filled arc but that exactly what's keeping ATWT from actually earning a nomination and win for Outstanding Drama. For example, the 10/27 episode was this close of sealing it for them but they had to add the whole Audrey running around with that darn check around Oakdale.
But I've got to say, it's still Must See TV.

I'm sorry, but the guys are doing just fine. Michael Park & Trent Dawson were pretty amazing today & Jon Lindstrom was not on screen as much, but wow! I really loved him today. And I also have to say the acting has been so great, I really haven't noticed the writing. Of course my judgement could be greatly impaired. ATWT was so boring for so long, just seeing these actors being so engaged makes my day! I was even enjoying the evil Meg for awhile & I never thought I'd enjoy Meg. Only downside for me--Lily & Damien, but hey that's why they invented FF buttons! And I'm happy to say that button is getting used much less these days. And Maura's coming back!!

what's funny is over two years ago, i said on this forum they should make meg manipulative and over two years later, they finally got the message and it turns out that was a right move.

I completely agree with all of your comments. I think ATWT's new production model has something to do with it. They jump around from scene to scene so quickly it makes your head spin and it's almost impossible to give an Emmy worthy performance or have the writing actually make an impact the way the show is handled. Tho, Haskell managed to win an Emmy with a similar reel.
I understand times are tough, budgets have been tightened, but seriously, they couldn't have Emma, Meg, HOLDEN, Lily, their kids, Tom (Katie's brother-in-law for crissakes), Sage, Bob, some extra's to play employees from WOAK, a couple of cops, maybe even a few teens to represent some of Liberty's friends, to show up at Brad's fricken funeral?!? And seriously, cast a new Lyla, personally I can't believe Ann Sward would be that difficult to get, but whatever, Katie's mom would have been there, she could have put her whirlwind cabaret act on hold for a couple of days!!! I can't believe how empty the church was! If nothing else, put up some cardboard cut-outs! And what kind of a town is this where the funeral process is, have people say some nice things then everybody scatters & LEAVES THE BODY IN THE CHURCH???? Brad's casket & body were still in the church when Carly & Jack went inside! Nobody else was in the church! I would have preferred they skip this completely rather than have them do it so half heartedly. Instead of showing the funeral, just show people at Tom & Margo's afterwards talking about the huge turn out & making their speeches there. And Jack not participating was just stupid. I've been enjoying the show lately, but that was one of the suckiest funerals I've ever seen on a soap. bleh!

dwb, ICAM with everything that you've posted! I couldn't believe Meg, EVEN Emma, wasn't around. Where was Kim and Bob? I was expectating so much more for this event but it the delivery just left me flaborghasted. I couldn't believe who was missing in church. I set my expectation so high for this to be an emotional tribute to Brad but it just became a tremendous mess. Everything was near stellar with Brad's passing but this memorial was simply horrendous. I couldn't believe it!
I agree with E/W, the only saving grace was Teri's performance.

carly's return was so cheezy i didnt like it. thats not how hogan or jp has brought her back from mer m.l's.
first ml, she shows up in montana running into holden, molly, and jack.
second ml, she is in hong kong being held captive.
third ml, she is found by jack with an aging face and gray hair(hogan's infamous spa story)
fourth ml, she is back from running away with simon checking into a hotel while hiding from the law.
and this ml, she shows up in black for brad's funeral in a wardrobe very uncarly running into jack, but it was nothing compared to her previous ones. not only that, her return seemed like it was more about jack, craig, and rosanna while carly is the odd one left out. kreisman this is not how you write carly when she returns to the canvas. this return just didnt seem in true carly fashion to me.
I am scared to say this but I have to get this off me chest but did Maura West decided to get some botox on her maternity leave? First off I am all for anyone doing what they want to make them feel good, but it was destractint esp today when she was going off on Craig and Rosanna (Cady is breastastic!) her forehead dd not move. It was like I was watching DH and Marcia Cross is on my screen. But w/me saying that both of these actresses are strong, but I was kind of distracted.

OH, E/W, LOVE this Post!!
OMG! I was distracted too! Cady's breasts! Yeah, there was something with Maura's face. Can't put my hands on it. Something about her face. I was distracted with Maura's roots, along with Julie's roots. Hair dept. needs to start dying their roots again. But I swore I thought I was the only one distracted by this.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love and respect all these actresses, they're tops in the industry. But just one of those things....

and while we are at it, can we talk about this ben franklin nonsense? kreisman brings this crap with him from gl and atwt is sure to be cancelled. can i honestly ask how this man is able to look at himself in the mirror when he gets up in the morning? does he seriously think this kind of stuff is amusing to him? yeah, it is amusing but not the way he thinks. i guess we can blame ellen wheeler for ever introducing us to this camp freak.
i'm sorry but this will not save the show. i'm sure telenext and barbara bloom are snickering behind this show's back.
I thought Michael Park did a good job up on the roof and in Philly. Loved how Carly was worried about him, but make time lines plausible people. How the smurf did they get to Philly so fast?

thats not the point, this lifey stuff is what hurt gl, sometimes a soap needs to be made of the soap element and what its tradition is known for. atwt is supposed to be a rich, luxurious soap. thats how marland wrote it and even sheffer.
now today was another rediculous plot, the arrival of tp and alison trusting a guy whe knew for two minutes who grabbed her from behind in the hospital basement. wth?
The Craig/Carly/Rosanna confrontation scenes would've packed more punch had Ro thrown it in Carly's face that Carly had no problem sleeping with Mike when Ro was engaged to him.
