The hospital episodes over the past few days have proven yet again just how uneven As The World Turns truly is as a soap. One day its nothing short of excellent then the next day its godawful.

I really disliked the hospital hostage crisis episodes. I found them to be forced, poorly written and encompassing some of the most dull characters on the show. I truly felt awful for the super talented Ellen Dolan, Kelly Menighan-Hensley, Scott Holmes, and Marie Masters for having to endure this. Even they couldn't rise above the poorly written dialogue. It was like watching a horrible B-movie.

A few years ago As The World Turns had the best cast in Daytime. As of late thanks to such a focus on horribly recasted characters such as Alison (Marnie Schulenburg) and Chris (Dylan Bruce) not to mention the absolutely nauseating Marie Masters and Roger Howarth, I find it tedious.

I don't mean to sound so negative, but when ATWT is bad, its hideous. On the flipside I have really enjoyed the fall-out of Emily and Casey which has given Ellen Dolan and Scott Holmes fabulous material. I have also enjoyed Noelle Beck as nu-Lily and Kathleen Widdoes as Emma proves time and time again what a wonderful screen presence she is. I adore her. I'm also in the minority of liking Jake Silbermann. I find him to be one of the better younger actors in Daytime (although that may not be saying much).

Hopefully this storyline will be buried quickly. I'm juicing up for more Margo & Tom vs. Emily!!!

Admittedly, I'm probably the hugest ATWT fan on this board, well besides, BC, but I found the last two episodes uneven as well. While it was stellar on one hand, on the other hand, I didn't know whether to totally LMAO or to be angry at the writers. I mean how many of us were yelling at our TVs at Margo to shot Rick!

No matter how uneven these past episodes were though, you know that ATWT will submit them come Emmy time.

I loved both Monday and Tuesday's episodes ( guess I'm in the minority.) Yes, some of the dialouge was a little cheesy, but it was action-packed and riveting. More importantly, for long-time viewers, the stakes were raised because, despite the plot-driven story, the storyline placed long-time characters with histories with one another into one arena and made them all re-examine their lives and changed their courses.
KMH was particularly effective, IMHO. She and Magnusson had me reduced to tears on several occasions. And the denouement is a perfect set-up for more drama in the formerly bland Ali-Chris-Aaron triangle.

I wish the show would stop resolving stories in a week's time. Milk the drama for what it's worth.

I agree about it being action packed and riveting. I really enjoyed the scenes! I think it was a nice change of pace, plus I think it really gave a chance to explore the dynamic of many of the relationships. I loved Casey/Emily's storyline. They really grew on me during these events!

Okay, anyone else think ATWT is in a much better place now than it has been for much of JP's reign as headwriter? The show is moving at the perfect pace. The characters are actually acting like themseleves, the stories are making sense. It isn't perfect, but it is a far cry better from its sister soap GL, heads and tails better than GH, keeping a better/faster pace than Y&R, and is actually entertaining me more than OLTL these days.

The dialouge on this show is what makes me the happiest. They obviously have writers with brains on this show who know how to pen smart dialouge.

Keep it up ATWT! I never thought i'd enjoy the show as much as I am again after Hogan left, but you have proven me wrong.

The Emily/Margo stuff on Thursdays eppy involving Dani & the Mayor was so delicious. Ellen Dollan is quickly becoming one of my faves again!

glfan, yes, I do think that ATWT is headed in the right direction. I don't know whether it's all JP's doing but it's been quite watchable as of late. Although the scenes from the poison s/l were abit cheesey it was still drama pact!

It's kept my interest going. I know that others probably don't share this feeling but I am so looking forward to both Anthony Herrera and Grayson McCouch to return. From what I've been watching lately, you know that they don't know what to do with Casey and Emily upon Dusty's return. I don't know whether the writers want Emily back with Dusty or not. I, personally, want either Carly or Katie be his next gal.

I just hope that all of this Snyder contaminated farm business finishes up Sooner rather than later because I don't really think that's it's plausible but then again that's what I thought about the poison s/l (and now in the aftermath, I actually think that it worked!).

At this point, I say ATWT is right up there in the big categories to be nominated for Best Series, Best Direction, and Best Writing. As far as a Win is concern, I can't say but they have a better chance this year than last!

Has Julie Pinson signed a multi-year contract or is she just on for a set period of time?

I think there could be more than meets the eye with Kevin's return. I have a feeling the Luke-Noah relationship will turn into a triangle if audiences take to Kevin this go round. I welcome the possibility.

As for Larry Lau (ex-Greg, AMC), I think he should be paired with someone a bit younger than Elizabeth Hubbard. Love Liz, but he may be better suited for someone in Meg's age range.

I am really loving Julie Pinson and the Janet character. I was never a fan of hers on DOOL, but she has been really strong in this part. I would actually like to see her get a pre-nom for supporting actress. Anyone else agree?

Julie Pinson has by far exceeded all of my expectations! When it was announced that she was joining the show, I wasn't too sure about it but she entered the canvas and proved herself. I think that she's deserving of a pre-nomination for Best Supporting Actress. I mean those scenes after everyone thought that Liberty was raped were absolutely heart wrenching.

I know that she's only on recurring status but I hope that ATWT puts her on contract!

Julie Pinson is a fantastic actor, and very beautiful. At first she was making Janet an out-there, in-your-face kind of character. Lately, the bad writing on ATWT is turning Janet into the whiny, weak, conflicted character that Carly is becoming. Julie Pinson can't save Janet from horrible dialogue and dumb SLs.

Julie Pinson has been a breath of fresh air for that show.
I loved how she said that this role gave her the will to act again after Days wasted her.
I hope ATWT prenominate her and Ellen Dolan, but I can see KMH and Marie Wilson taking those slots.

JP & ED DESERVE those slots. Janet would be nothing without Pinson and Dolan has surefire Emmy tapes with finding Casey & Emily together.

If the overrated KMH and dull as dishwater MW make it in, i'll be ****ed!

Where does everybody think the Luke-Noah-Kevin story going? I have a feeling Kevin and Luke could be in store for a "stolen" moment.

I disagree, for the simple fact that I don't see any chemistry between Kevin and Luke, and more importantly, even though Luke and Noah still aren't being treated the same, i.e. sex,
TPTB do realize that Luke and Noah have an enormous fanbase, so why mess w/ a good thing?

The election storyline is a catalyst for something bigger. As this week's previews seem to suggest, Luke has a conversation with someone (presumably Noah) about his past feelings for Kevin. Since Kevin's re-emergence onto the scene, he seems as though something is unsettled about him. Kevin doesn't appear to be homophobic, really, but he does seem almost drawn to Luke as though he cares about him on a deeper level. Does anyone else see that?

Yes, Luke and Noah have a very strong fanbase and a fling with Kevin would test their relationship but how many times have Lily and Holden been tested by her feelings for her first love, Dusty?
