The 36th Daytime Emmy Awards hit another record low on the CW Sunday night, a year after delivering its lowest ratings on ABC in June 2008. This year's show delivered a 0.5/2 from 7-10 p.m. and averaged 2.2 million viewers. It scored a 1.6/3 in households. That's a dramatic decrease even from last years' 4.1/8 household number and 5.3 million viewers.
The Daytime Emmys have steadily declined throughout the decade, drawing a fraction of the viewers that turned to it in the mid-‘90s. The high-water mark of the last two decades came in 1993 when the awards show averaged a 16.4 household rating and 21.9 million viewers.
Rumors have been circulating that the show may move to cable, or not return to television at all.
Its over folks. This was last emmys on air forever. The show itself did not to showcase soaps in positive light

Good timing with those numbers, you beat me to the punch by seconds.
Without the red carpet numbers added in, the show did about 2.7m for the two hours.
I don't think anyone was expecting blockbuster numbers for the CW on a Sunday night at the end of August.
But I seriously hope the new production team takes a good, long look at why even FANS of the various daytime shows (talk, court, soaps) aren't tuning in to see their favorites win. Why aren't they excited about the Daytime Emmys anymore?
Given the level of talent behind the cameras, the show was a mess. Hell, go back to the nominations announcement when the honorees were quickly read off of a cue card by a "Entertainment Weekly" writer trying to fend off Kathie Lee's wacky horseplay.

We can't compare these numbers to other telecasts because those channels advertised the awards and they have wider distribution. Viewers at those channels knew they were going to be on. If you don't watch CW (and I don't), you wouldn't know they were on. CW doesn't have soaps. I didn't see any ads on Soapnet or other channels. MY grandmother only stumbled on them by accident during a commercial break on Big Brother.
I hope they stay on Sunday night if they do air. Other then that they need to totally revamp the show
Show stars arriving like they do at globes they can have an opening of host on certain shows in scenes cut out some of the categories have tables with all actors on shows at them show actors and clips nominated

I am not at all surprised since it was a really sloppy show last night. The timing, transitioning between commercials, the cutting off of acceptance speeches, the over-doing of Vanessa Williams, and planning and execution of the show was, let's say, more like a middle school production at best. It will probably go over to a cable channel that will take a risk on it or be streamed online from the Emmy website itself.
What once was, well is not the case anymore, unfortunately.
well i'm severly annoyed that they did not show clips for all the acting categories or the actors faces for all of them, i have no idea if bree williamson, julie pinson, susan flannery, etc were even there, they are so lazy with the daytime emmys even the primetime emmys now

Yall do realize that 2.7 million viewers is more than 90210, Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill regularly get? Hell, it's more than most soaps! All they needed for another year (according to the producer) was 2 million viewers.

Well if you watched the show you would have seen Bree performing during the "Fashion Show"
My website and blog are taking a little break, since Geocities is closing and I now have to upload everything to a new site, so I am working on a new design and it is gonna take me a while, hoping to get it up by Oscar Season.
These aren't terrible numbers and for the CW those are pretty excellent numbers, better than most shows that air on their schedule on a regular basis. I believe the ratings have done enough to at least secure the broadcast for another year. But i do believe next year will likely be the last one ever.
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!
