This carnival storyline isn't grabbing me like their other disaster/emmy stunt stories have. There is no draw to it if you have been watching all year and not just tuning in for this. The 3 minutes of Jason walking around the carnvival in a daze and the terrible acting by the extras was laughable as best.

So far I am enjoying JJ return. I hate how it was done, but JJ is delivering and the spark is still there w/Herbst and Geary. The phone call to Laura is hopefully, and not going to give this show that much credit, is hopefully a taste of Genie possible return.

And why they don't have him in the credits or at least taken out Vaughn is something I don't understand. While I am not going to get too mad, there is already a justified group of fans out there already, I will say this it is something that should be taken care of quickly.

so many gh sonny lovers are proclaiming mb's best performance to be today. i swear if mb gets nominated for an emmy and sjb doesnt then i have reached my end for daytime. how could sjb not get what she deserves as an actress? is daytime writers scared of her? do they not want her to win an emmy over those that are contributing to daytime's falling ratings. i hate saying it, but good performances by great actors is what's going to get ratings. nothing more, nothing less. people are saying gh is watchable lately. but who has been driving the show lately during this improvement? sjb! this show has been all claudia the last month or so. and when she leaves, there is going to be a drop off in ratings. gh may hit an all time low the week of november 9th. when writers start letting their personal feelings of not wanting a great actor to steal the show go, maybe then their show could turn around.

does mb, sbu, and lw approve of the way their characters are written and the shameful direction of claudia? if they do, they are non-existent to me now.

Today's Build-Up episode to tommorrow's EXPLOSIVE episode was quite intense and great to watch. I was on the edge of my couch cusion during that last ten minutes. I AM SO ESTATIC ABOUT TOMMORROW! I really hope this episode sets off a chain reaction of emmy tapes for mb, lw, sjb, sb, & dg.

Maurice really impressed me today. I'm not sure if today was Emmy worthy, but he actually acted and showed emotion today, there was something different about his performance today, something I havent seen from him in years. Hopefully he will continue to do so and hopefully the show will continue to improve as well.

^^^I just watched Maurice performance, and honestly the only thing that impressed me was the writing, because it felt sincere.

What luck for rulers that men do not think.

As I watch GH right now, I can't fathom how awful Maurice Benard has become. A better actor would have killed this. His anger comes across as laughable to me. I enjoy the old school aspect of the story telling, but another gun stand off? Give me a break. This could make a possible writing nomination for GH.

The episode had a strong build up for the first part, Sarah was out of control!, but when they started to pull a gun one one another I rolled my eyes and said back to business as usual. The only thing that was compelling after that were the Alexis/Kristina scenes.

Watched most of GH Friday for the first time in many moons and ITA, with you, east/west. Turned off the second part of the show. Tho, I did feel Benard was actually very good and Brown - as always - just superb.

Can't believe how much I am liking this show!

Haven't seen today's episode, but yesterday was good.

The Alexis scenes made the show.

I am going like this, when I see the actors and characters I enjoy I can look past the misguided "vision" of Guza (which has sorta eased up off of The Sopranos and leaned towards bad action of Primetime and movies).

The production values, direction, and writing has been on pt. too. The writers are the best script writers in the business.

Can I Just Say I Am LOVING this show right now! I really loved Drew Garrett and Laura Wright. I am loving how they're planning on introducing James Franco's character.

i thought maurice bernard was killer when he tore into claudia at the party, but i didn't like how she died, i think they blew it in my opinion. Also i loved sonny giving jax ****. Maurice should get an emmy nod though. Sarah brown was great too.

so mb should get nominated for yelling and calling someone a piece of trash? do most people on here really want to see a mb nomination? i sure as heck don't.

well based on jfp's interview you can already see that gh isnt going to get better.

yeah, i would prefer them. they are better actors than benard. i would be livid if benard was nominated and not sjb, who is been in daytime for almost two years and should get her fourth emmy. no, to me, it wouldnt be a payoff to see her win in 11' while benard wins next year. i can't wait for the franco disappointment. that will bring gh back to earth.

What I gathered from the James Franco promos, go to WLS site and you can view them, is that his character is supposed to be some hybrid of Dexter. Anyways I am looking foward to it.

To be honest I have been half watching GH of late. W/all the other soaps keeping me enthralled GH is meh. And I watch James first day on WLS b/c it was edited down to his scenes and he did not dissapoint! Loved how they are using Adam Lambert's cover of "Mad World" (JFP is tapping into her early days of being a music supervisor). And I hear from DC recent ABC podcast that Guza is writng all of the Franco stuff.

Ken Tucker's Review (how wierd to say that lol)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
James Franco's debut on 'General Hospital': 'Should I wear anything special, or nothing at all?'
by Ken Tucker

Anyone thinking General Hospital was going to hold James Franco’s debut on the soap opera to a final-seconds tease today was wrong. Dressed as a shabby graffiti artist, Franco — playing a “world-famous photographer and artist” cleverly named “Franco” — put in a monosyllabic appearance in the first two minutes of Friday’s edition, and skulked around during the entire hour. In between, there were scenes of Hospital regulars arguing and emoting lines like, “Neither one of them gets out of here alive!”

Franco was initially seen witnessing an awkwardly staged gangland shoot-out (I had forgotten the way everything on a soap set, right down to the stairs people run down, looks like flimsy cardboard). I’m not going to pretend I’m a regular GH-watcher — you’d figure that out fast, if I tried to pass — but I’m also the sort of person the producers want to attract: that is, a new viewer, to boost the generally sagging ratings of the soap opera genre.

So, as a Franco fan dating back to his Freaks & Geeks days, I was psyched for his role as “an artist whose canvas is murder,” as the promos hyped it. We saw a bit of artist-Franco’s art installation today. The floor had the chalk outline of an absent corpse; there was graffiti on the walls and lots of random metal sculpture. This Franco is a rip-off artist: part-Jean-Michel Basquiat, part-Keith Haring, all-hack.

Oh, and all-evil. He approaches the bleeding body after the shoot-out. The guy asks for help, but Franco steps on his throat, finishing the fellow off. Then Franco the artiste rearranges the corpse’s limbs in a special way, leaving a message for the cops to figure out.

Back in his studio, Franco phones a woman, saying he needs her. She murmurs, “Should I wear anything special, or nothing at all?” Oooh, those rebel artists-of-death — they attract all the babes, don’t they?

The show kept cutting back to some endless argument involving a woman name Olivia, who babbled ceaselessly about her son Dante. She seemed sullen, defensive, and either terribly rattled or else trapped in a terrible storyline.

(GH fans, care to weigh in on Olivia’s story? Thanks.) (Oh, and pardon a newbie’s question, but: Does General Hospital ever have any scenes in a hospital?)

Meanwhile, I’ll be hanging in to watch how James Franco’s storyline plays out next week. What did you think of it so far?

LOL!

WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.
