Best LEAD Actress- Kelley Menighan Hensley
Emily breaks up with Casey after they get married/do it, not remembering why she got married; Emily collapses in her office after another showdown with Margo
KMH stood on her two feet in this episode, when she tells Casey that they have to end their "marriage", to her confrontation with Margo...

Baby Max dies; Bill is upset that Max is dead
It was powerful dramatic writing, and I would not be surprised to see this episode submitted to the Emmy voters
Trivia- It was 4 Years Ago today that Gus and Harley almost got married, in reels that should have gotten Beth Ehlers an Emmy nomination, at least, if not a win

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series Heather Tom as Katie Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS)
Katie tells Nick that she's pregnant.
Even though I hate this Katie & Nick storyline, Tom is hitting it out of the park w/every performance. The anger and sadness over hurting someone she cares about, Tom really sold those scenes for me. She can submit Lead or Supporting and still get the nomination b/c she is that great of an actress.

I completely agree with this assessment. Tom was nothing short of brilliant yesterday. Atrocious storyline, but damn if she didn't almost have me in tears feeling for her predicament. If she submits in supporting, she should be a LOCK for the win. I could also see her going Lead, and she'd be a formidable contender as well.
Best Directing Best Writing Best Supporting Actor-Chris Engen as Adam Wilson
Genoa City attends Sabrina's funeral only to find out it was canceled. Adam lashes out at Nikki and her kids. Michael decides to meet his father. Victor leaves Genoa City.
I thought this episode was very somber but it had great writing and directing that showcased the ensemble. Also Chris Engen was great in his scenes where he blamed Nikki for Skye's death and lashed out at Victoria and Nick for basically being hypocrites by being at the funeral.

Ditto. I especially loved the montage at the end. Nikki pouring Davids ashes in with the horse droppings was classic.
I would have given them a Drama Series nod too if it were not for the Devon, Tyra, Ana stuff. These two new charactes do nothing for me. Also Tyra being interested in Neil is kind of a yawn because I don't care much for him and Karen. It looks like we could be in the early stages of a pretty stale love triangle. I say send them packing and bring Dru back. That would be an excellent triangle.

I guess this is yesterday's (August 6th) episode, though I think the John and Marlena scenes were the day before. The episode was great with its split focus on the sweetness and romance of Bo and Hope renewing their vows and drama and fear of Stefano coming out of his coma to play his family against each other. I loved the ending with Marlena, absent all episode, coming home and having someone with a syringe stalking her.
I'm also citing James Scott for Best Actor in a Drama Series. I love his father/son chemistry with Stefano, and I think Scott's never better than when EJ is conflicted over whether or not to be loyal to his father.
Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team Days of Our Lives (NBC)
Todays episode was beautifully directed. Y&R loss is trulys Days gain and I think this episode should be saved w/the plane crash episodes from ealier this yr. and the upcoming noir fantasy sequence b/c Days is looking pretty good to win their first major Emmy in a long time next yr.

Friday, August 1, 2008 One Life to Live Best Younger Actor Brandon Buddy - Cole Thornhart Best Younger Actress Kristen Alderson - Starr Manning
Cole signs the papers relinquishing his parental rights to his and Starr's unborn baby, and then breaks up with Starr.
I just watched this over the weekend, and I can't believe no one cited it (or maybe someone did and I just missed it?). Alderson did a good job being relieved that Cole had signed the papers but also upset about the breakup. But Buddy was really great, heartbreaking, as he gave up both his child and the girl he loves. What a turnaround he's done! He's definitely a contender for an Emmy nom next year.
Days Of Our Lives Best Supporting Actor Joseph Mascolo As Stefano Dimera
Stefano and Tony talk about what Marlena did to him and Tony Demands Stefano to tell him want he is up too.

As the World Turns - Friday, 08-08-08 Best Drama Series Best Writing Best Actress - Maura West
As half of Oakdale is plagued with the mysterious poisonous virus in Oakdale Memorial, Bob and Chris try to figure out what's getting everyone ill. They figure out that it is caused by mysterious gifts that Alison, Chris, Emily, and Meg have all received. Barbara gets a call from Rick Decker and she figures out that he's the person sending these gifts as payback.
In the midst of this drama, we see Carly and Lily have go around fighting over Holden. Carly tries to talk to Lily about giving Holden another chance at Emma's request (yes, you read that right) and it turns to Round 4. Carly played so delicously by West tells Lily that she's a hyprocrite for being so righteous after her own infidelity with Dusty.
This very strong eppy showcased the range of acting by almost the entire cast. It was so rivetting to watch that at the end you want more.
Monday, you will sure get it!

Outstanding Drama Series Outstanding Lead Actress- Kelley Menighan Hensley Outstanding Supporting Actor- Don Hastings, Roger Howarth, Dylan Bruce Outstanding Supporting Actress- Ellen Dolan, Colleen Zenk Pinter Outstanding "Guest" Actor- John James* (*- if they include this category) Outstanding Writing Outstanding Directing
Rick works on an antidote and causes havoc around Memorial; Emily patches things up with Tom, as she lays dying next to Casey; Margo attempts to stop Paul and Barbara's plan to help Rick in his dastardly plan
If ATWT submits this episode, then the Emmy belongs to ATWT, because this reminds me of the gimmicks that JFP does to win Emmys.
There have been great performances all around, and the show was directed beautifully, and acted well all-over, and I believe what is going on, and that's what Emmy voters want to believe in an Outstanding Drama Series. This episode brilliant showcases LIFE AND DEATH DECISIONS- something that has helped GH win their LAST THREE EMMYS for Outstanding Drama Series, and Emmy voters will gobble this up, just like (insert inappropriate sex joke here). This is the best show on TV as of right now, and is deserving of the Outstanding Drama Series Emmy next year. Keep this WORLD turnin'!

I echo this submission, BC, this was a superb episode for ATWT! Outstanding. From the beginning where Margo carefully threads the ties of each victim to Rick Decker to how masterful it ended when Rick takes all victims as hostages.
What's more amazing about this eppy, is that the usual powerful house suspects we're on it. You totally were so engrossed with everyone involved with this embrella S/L that you totally forget who wasn't in this episode. Maura West, Jon Hensley, Martha Byrne, er, make that Noelle Beck, and Michael Park. Hopefully ATWT doesn't screw this up by not having them involved in the aftermath.
Oh, and wait, we still have tomorrow!
I can't decide at this point which Two episodes ATWT should submit, Friday/Monday or possibily Monday/Tuesday.
If Tuesday episode is anything like today's, OMG, Mr. Goutman please prepare your acceptance speach!

Monday, August 11, 2008 Days of our Lives Best Drama Series Best Writing Team Best Supporting Actor Joseph Mascolo - Stefano DiMera Best Supporting Actor Thaao Penghlis - Tony DiMera
Stefano rants to a disbelieving Tony about what Marlena did to him. Tony and Stefano argue over Tony's loyalty and Stefano malicious intentions. John and Anna find Marlena paralyzed in her apartment. Kayla attacks John for not being the man he was, but a grateful Sami shows him some understanding.
This episode was phenomenal, possibly the strongest of the year so far, IMO. This focused episode centering around beloved and established characters would make a great Emmy submission - no overly complicated, interesting to watch, well written and acted, and really exciting. The DiMeras are so interesting when their family dramas are played out, and this is a great example of that.
Would sort of lean toward submitting Friday/Monday, tho Tuesday's episode wraps things up neatly, so that might be the way to go for ATWT. But definitely Monday is a contender for best drama series.
Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Days of our Lives Best Directing Team Best Actress Deidre Hall - Dr. Marlena Evans
Stefano's plan goes into effect as EJ, Sami, Anna, Tony, and John realize that everyone is trapped at the hospital and an ominous gas pours through the vents. Stefano disappears from his hospital bed. Kayla works to reverse Marlena's paralysis, as others react to the news that she paralyzed Stefano.
Another great episode for DAYS. I loved Hall in her scenes because she was conveying so much with so little movement. Her tearful admission to Sami and Kayla that she had drugged Stefano was fantastic, and the conversation she had with Tony was great. I was also very impressed with the directing because of the escalating tone of terror throughout the episode. Like the characters themselves, I started out a little worried about what Stefano was going to do and by the end I was terrified of what would happen. Easily better than any horror movie I've seen in years.

Allan, as much as Tuesday eppy was great. My ultimate fear is seeing how the panel will judge that latter half of the episode. I can already hear all the anaylsts saying how dull and boring it became all of the sudden after the first half was action packed with high drama.
I think Friday/Monday really showcases ATWT. But at this point, I have a feeling that TPTB will submit Tuesday's episode instead. Just a gut feeling.
