Best Writing Best Directing Best Supporting Actress-Elizabeth Hendrickson as Chloe Mitchell
Victor is declared dead which immediately sends Adam power mad. Adam fires Neil and Karen in turn quits. Michael and Adam have words. Chloe and Cane get married and discuss their predicament. Lily and Devon convince Ana to attend school. Nikki and Nick deal with the aftermath of Victor's supposed death.
Today's episode was fast paced with great transitions and excellent writng (except for the boring Ana and Devon stuff). Also Chloe finally showed that she isn't heartless and actually had a bad past.

Best Supporting Actress ALLEY MILLS as Pam Douglas "The Bold and the Beautiful" August 28,2008
A masked Pam attacks Donna at the Forrester mansion then hightails it up to Big Bear to finish her off.
We all knew Pam was the one who poisoned Eric, but the writers threw us a sadistic twist and had Pam do it through her lemon bars.
Mills was a showcase today, befriending Donna at first, telling her she wants to bury the hatchet. But when Donna throws that offer (and her poisoned lemon bars) back in her face, Pam becomes unglued and pulls a rifle on Donna.
Though i think her best episode will be tomorrow, Mills was on fire today, and i have a feeling she'll give us a "bear" of a performance in the next eppy.
I love Melody Thomas Scott. That woman is a FORCE to be RECKONED with. I've never seen such determination and actual RAWNESS in a performance from someone continuously. Well done Mel, well done. You've just solidified yourself to the top of my list again.
August 28, 2008 GUIDING LIGHT KIM ZIMMER, BEST ACTRESS
I am suprised no one else mentioned this episode. Zimmer was pitch perfect, having just found a lump in her breast and breaking down to Lillian in the hospital. She was especially strong when talking to her father about her childhood and her outlook for the future with Jeffrey, then the touching scenes at the end when she meets up with Jeffrey at the place they're going to be married.
I know that the Best Actress category will be loaded again with strong performances this year, but Zimmer is defnitely a threat again. Many people have criticized GL's new format, but when when you have strong performances like ZImmer's today, it shows that the new format could work, as long as the writing is strong.
Caroline Argues with Victor for what he's allowed their son to do. Kate shows frustration when Daniel accuses her of not wanting to letm him go, when she is really trying to keep chelsea safe. Chelsea berates Philip for what he allowed her dad to do, and gets angry that he doesn't seem to care.

As the World Turns - 8/29 Best Younger Lead Actress - Meredith Hagner
Liberty is rushed to the hospital being feared that she was raped after being drugged. She recalls what happened to her and that Leo attacked her and forced himself on her.
Meredith Hagner was really strong during these scenes. She was really compelling. She had me in tears and was quite rivetting. After Jennifer Landon left the show, I thought that ATWT had no other strong Young Lead Actress left, but Meredith Hagner proved me wrong with this episode.

Best Writing Best Lead Actor-Eric Braeden as Victor Newman Best Lead Actress-Melody Thomas Scott as Nikki Newman
Nikki and Victor come face to face. Victor tells Nikki they are done and she should forget about him. Victoria, Nick, and Adam read their letters. Noah decides to go to public school. Chloe reveals the truth.
Great scenes between Eric and Melody today. Like many have said this breakup is reminiscent of Scarlett and Rhett. I also thought the episode was well written and showcased the ensemble.

I just got caught up on a bunch of stuff, so I wanted to cite a few performances. Hopefully, I'm not mixing up dates.
Days of our Lives Thursday, August 28, 2008 Best Younger Actress Rachel Melvin - Chelsea Brady
Chelsea learns that Daniel and Kate slept together.
This was a really uninspired story arc and I think having Daniel and Kate have a fling was a terrible idea, but I loved Chelsea's restrained, wounded reaction to the news. I also like that the conversation was interrupted by Lexie and Theo, which add layers to Chelsea's behavior. Melvin's portrayal was very realistic.
Friday, August 29, 2008 Best Actress Deidre Hall - Dr. Marlena Evans
John bursts in on a counseling session Marlena is having and the two argue about their relationship. John kinda sorta says he loves her and they make love in her office. Later, Marlena regrets it.
This story is kind of starting to go in circles, but Hall did a great job today as Marlena's frustration over Stefano's vengeance and John's fickle feelings came to a head.
Friday, September 5, 2008 Best (Supporting?) Actress Renee Jones - Dr. Lexie Carver
Abe gets angry when he sees Daniel embracing Lexie, and later in therapy accuses her of having an affair with him. Lexie starts to defend herself, then breaks down about her concerns over Theo's autism.
Jones finally got some emotional material to play, and she does a great job here. I'm glad we're finally seeing Abe and Lexie more on screen together and actually discussing their problems.
One Life to Live Friday, September 5, 2008 Best Supporting Actress Kathy Brier - Marcie McBain
Marcie is upset when she Michael dancing with Layla at Capricorn. She and Michael talk more about their crumbling marriage.
I know Brier has stronger and more dramatic tapes than this, but I just loved her in this episode. She wasn't drunk, but had moments of being kind of tipsy, and she was just pitch perfect in every scene. The look on her face when Blair talks about the nightgown Todd bought for another woman was priceless, my favorite moment all week.
September 4, 2008 Guiding Light Best Actress Kim Zimmer
I forgot to mention this last week. Zimmer was very good, going from shocked to surprised to afraid as she realized that her cancer had not come back, but instead found out she was pregnant.
This storyline is an interesting one for Zimmer, and GL is trying its best to make it believeable, being Reva is in menopause and focusing on the drugs she's been taking for her cancer treatments. This storyline should provide some very good moments for Zimmer, who in my book is up there with Melody Thomas Scott for providing some of the best performances of the year.
The Bold and The Beautiful September 8, September 9th Best Supporting Actress -Ashley Jones
She found out about Nick and Katie and the pregnancy.
WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

All My Children 9/12/08 Lead Actress - Debbi Morgan Supporting Actor- Cornelius Smith
Angie and Frankie fight over him returning to Iraq.
Finally a good episode of AMC and great performances to match by Smith and especially Morgan who was so passionate in her work in todays epsidode. The tears poured out today and Morgan was spectacular in her scenes with Smith as she begged him not to go back to Iraq. Smith was beautifully understated as his character decides it is necessary to return to Iraq.
A perfect Emmy tape if I've ever seen one. By centering everything around "Claudia"'s acting ability on the stand, they've crafted the perfect showcase for Brown's skills. She was absolutely stunning and I think they were some of the most powerful scenes of the past few years in daytime. I didn't want the scenes to end and found myself actually groaning when they would go to something else. And, let's face it, that doesn't happen often these days.
Also,
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS - Kirsten Storms
She and Bradford Anderson were great in their scenes together and she showed so much range. She almost made me cry when she was telling Spinelli how much he means to her. She's great at every shade they give her to play.
Sept. 13 2008 As the World Turns Outstanding Lead Actor: Micheal Park
Jack feels guilty after stealing the evidence and wonders if he is doing the right thing.
All of MP scenes was good and truely becoming one of ATWT great leading men and you were able top see two sides of Jack; him being calm and guilty when he was taking to Carly and him being angry when hes talking to Brad and Janet for burning the evidence
The Young & the Restless Monday, September 15, 2008 Best Supporting Actress Elizabeth Hendrickson as Chloe (Kate) Mitchell (Valentine)
Katherine, Jill, Lily, Cane, Chloe, and Rocco settle once and for all what happens with the baby, and there skewed relationship.
Hendrickson did an incredibly subtle, and simple performance here. She was acting opposite five other actors, two of whom are first rate, and managed to steal those scenes. Just a beautifully crafted performance by Elizabeth, very well done.

Best Drama - As the World Turns Best Writing Best Directing Best Supporting Actress - Kathleen Widdoes as Emma Snyder
September 17, 2008
As almost half the town gathers at the Snyder Farm to rescue little Ethan, high drama ensues. There's an accident as Holden goes down to rescue his son. Meanwhile Emma is full of guilt for even starting this project. Mix in the hysterics of James Stenbeck keeping Henry captive. Paul pleads with loan shark Derrek to forget about the money.
This is a rare episode where almost the entire cast is involved in this storyline. Noelle Beck proves to be really captivating and Kathleen Widdoes is just sublime as she is absolutely guilt ridden. Everyone involved in this storyline is at high cylinders here from Jon Henslely, Michael Park, Maura West, Julie Pinson, and Elizabeth Hubbard.

Actually, I think the overall quality of soaps is improved from last year, all things considered. But after the horror show that was this year's Emmy nominations, I feel less and less passionate about posting on this thread. And as primarily a DAYS fan, I can say that even though the show's been better this year than last year, the behind-the-scenes shenanigans are not making for the most Emmy-worthy material.
Best Supporting Actress-Kate Linder as Esther Valentine
Esther and Chloe try to bond.
Even though her character is sometimes too cartoonish, Kate did a wonderful job on today's episode. I thought her acting was honest and it never got cartoonish. If only Y&R would give Kate better material I think she could be a real big asset to the show.
