Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series: Trevor St. John as Todd Manning
Outstanding Supporting Actress: Susan Haskell as Dr. Marty Saybrooke
Marty continues to force Todd at gunpoint to confess to all of his lies. Todd goes on to explain that he's changed and that she had been the one responsible for him changing, adding that if he could get her to care for him; the person who hated him the most in the world and who he had hurt the most, then he knew that his change was for real. John beats Todd senseless when he learns that he had sex with Marty.
Wow. What a performance by Trevor St. John today, just so despondant and dellusional is his attepmts at absolution. He was spellbinding. He should definately mark this episode with its complex psychology and deluded disconnection as surefure for his real. Just spellbinding through to when he asked John, who was holding a gun to his face, to just pull the trigger. Haskell was equally mesmerizing saying to Todd in a whisper, "Don't you see Todd? You've raped me all over again when you made love to me. All over again." Just chilling stuff.

The ciizens of Genoa City attend the funeral of "Katherine."
Great episode which turned out to be quite the ensemble piece. Loved both Dina and Nina who both should come back full time. Like the confrontation between Jill and Nikki. Also the big reveal of Victor and Katherine were well done. Monday should even be better. One final scene I liked was when the lawyer told Jill about the will changing and the look on her face was priceless.

OUTSTANDING DRAMA/WRITING/DIRECTING November 14,2008 "The Young and the Restless"
This eppy has to be one the show submits in all Emmy categories. Having Marge narrate her own funeral was brilliant. It was a good move, too, having her look directly in the camera, and Jeanne Cooper nailed it beyond belief.
I nearly wet myself seeing my beloved Nina entered the church. And how about those writers?? Having Nina eye up Cane witin minutes calling him a hottie was pure Nina!!! I also liked the way the writers, in one brief line, had Nina realize "THAT" was Cane (Jill's son)
After drooling over him, i loved it when Nina said, "Well, he's no Phillip." priceless!
And Tricia Cast looks fabulous. She has not aged at all!
Loved seeing Dina back, as well. When she told Sharon she knew where the powder room was and handed Sharon her coat, was another classic Y&R moment. Like...I was the Lady of this house Missy long before you were even born...so don't even go there. Dina is still the reigning bitch of Y&R, thinking no woman is good enough for her baby boy Jack!
Another great scene, Amber and Phyllis at the casket and Phil referring to Amber as the bleach blonde with the little girl voice!
And we all knew the Vic would stroll in at the last minute and make jaws drop at the funeral. Even at someone's else's funeral, it's all about Victor LOVE IT!!!
The final scene capped off a superb show. Seeing Katherine's liver-spotted hand moving about!!
I smell EMMY for Best Show!!!!

Jess Walton is totally in this Emmy race again. I can see her taking Best Supporting Actress, her work on November 12th was so understated but flawlessly done. Also, is Michelle Stafford finally acting again? She surprised me with her performance as well. I think the Y&R ladies are going to be a HUGE FORCE next year. Actually I think a Y&R sweep is almost guaranteed....Writing, Lead Actor, Actress, Supporting Actress, Best Drama Series, Guest Actor...I am so happy that Y&R is finding its groove again, because this story has just been a delight to watch. Nina and Dina MUST stay as well, they simply MUST.
supporting actress:nadia bjorlin chloe runs into her ex,brady, and they rehash what happened in their marriage and forgive each other.
she imo acted circles around eric martsolf and i still believe she has what it takes to be a good actress. she had some decent stuff tuesday when she was by kate's bedside telling her to fight, but i felt it was too brief. i still dont think it will get her a nomination but it was at least nom worthy.

If there is any justice, Kathy Brier will win the Emmy this year.
^^^I forgot about her tour de france performances in January, but I think last year she stood a much better chance.
And the stuff this past wk. has also been great for Brier.
I think Jess Walton could end up winning her third Emmy next yr for Monday's episode. "CLIP"

Day 2 of Kays funeral. Like Fridays episode, this one was also beautifully written. Jess Walton hit it out of park and Nina's reaction while Jill was speaking was spot on. I so miss Tricia Cast! I would love it if the show could figure out a way to bring her back...even if it were on a recurring basis. Any Nina is better than no Nina at all.
Monday's episode was amazing. The writing, the superb acting by all. Kate Linder (esther) ripped my heart out today, and her eulogy was typical Esther, and she delivered it spot on. Linder is definitely one of daytime's most underrated actresses.
Having each character praying to God and getting in their heads was brilliant. And i love it how the writers made the characters talk during the eulogies. That is so REALISTIC....because we all do that. And Nina, leaning over to Gina, reminding her how Jill made Katherine's life a living hell was a hoot, and that smirk and line could only be delivered by Tricia Cast. Ditto with Dina telling God she needs to come to Genoa City more often.
And where else in daytime, and in one room, can you find a Nina, a Gina AND a Dina??????
If Sabrina was still alive, i would have been on the floor!!

LMAO
I'm SOOOOO glad we agree! LOL.
By the way, that citation about all the "ina's" in the room was a riot!
Outstanding Supporting Actress: Susan Haskell as Dr. Marty Saybrooke
Hillay B Smith as Nora Hanen
Oustanding Younger Actor
Brandon Buddy as Cole Thornhart
Marty and Cole come face to face. Cole is disappointed and hurt that Marty cannot remember him. Nora runs to see Marty who lashes out at her as the lawyer who had defended her attackers until she learns that they'd become dear friends and had even entrusted Cole in her care. Marty is disgusted and breaks down confessing to Nora that she slept with Todd willingly.
Haskell continues to shine as her Marty, gagging and heaving, is repulsed with the way things have transpired. You could literally feel the woman's disgust as she struggled to even catch her breath in repulsion. Some lovely and touching scenes with Cole as well at the top of the episode. Smith was wonderfully sympathetic and moving as the DA/best friend who is overjoyed to have her friend back but sad that its like her friend is still lost. Considering the history these 2 characters possess I thought it was very, very touching to see them share scenes like these right off the mark. It gave such nice insight for people who aren't as familiar with their history. They were some nicely written and played scenes.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008 Days of our Lives Best Supporting Actress Suzanne Rogers - Maggie Horton
Maggie frets and worries about Nick as everyone figures out he and Melanie are on the run and that he sent a threatening note to Melanie.
It's so easy to forget what a great talent Suzanne Rogers is because all Maggie ever really does is act as the occasional sounding board and give people free desserts at Chez Rouge. She was extremely believable and effective as Nick's concerned aunt. Blake Berris also did a fantastic job with his scenes, but I'm not citing him because the writing for him was just ridiculous and cliche.

I agree with the mention of Rogers and the criticism of how Nick is being written.
WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

As Lucinda recovers from a brest masectomy surgery from a recurrance of breast cancer, she exasperately tells Lily her fears of growing old and dying. She pleads for Lily's approval of her wedding to Brian Wheatly (played so brilliantly by Laurence Lau).
Elizabeth Hubbard was so powerful in her performance in this episode. So rivetting and yet so hilarious. We all know that Hubbard is a superb actress and it's so great that TPTB has finally given her some meat to prove it!

I'm not usually a huge fan of hers, thought she's been slightly annoying some of the time, but i thought in today's episode she actually gave off a great performance.
Days of our Lives
Oustanding younger actress - Molly Burnett
Thurs. Nov. 20th
Melanie tries to get away from Nick, and he tries to stop her and she ends up hanging from the balcony of a hotel, scared and screaming, as she dangles from bo's arm, until philip manages to grab hold of her. Then at the station she gets blamed by chelsea and stephanie for everything that's nick's done, and what's happening to him.
Outstanding Younger actor
Blake Berris
Nick in his scenes weren't as good as Melanie, but his confused state of mind was portrayed well, trying to grasp reality that melanie doesn't like him, the way he wanted her to, and that he has to face the consequences of what he's done.
Outsanding supporting actress - suzanne rogers
Maggie is a terrific actress not getting credited enough, and she shows a lot of great emotion in her scenes with nick, and the two have great family chemistry together in their scenes, and i basically wanted to second her citation from before.
