All My Children
January 11, 2008
Best Supporting Actress - Stacy Haiduk

Hannah is despondent and takes a gun to Zach. She complains saying, "he saved every woman in his life except her."

Another fine piece of work by a wonderful actress, who until now was never fully utilized by AMC, but they are giving her a fantastic exit and she is holding nothing back and her performances couldn't be better.

Daniel Cosgrove - Bill Lewis (Supporting Actor)

When Bill awakes from the explosion only to realize he is blind, Daniel Cosgrove played it perfectly. He has a wonderful chemistry with Marcy Rylan's Lizzie, he was stunned, shocked, and upset when he realized he was blind. Powerful when he told Lizzie he didnt need any help, remorseful when he realized he did, and vengefully perfect when he asked his father to help find who did this to him. It's really GREAT having Daniel back on GL and doing so very well.

Days of our Lives
Best Actress
Deidre Hall - Dr. Marlena Evans Black

EJ reluctantly admits to Marlena and the police that John is alive and being kept at the DiMera mansion. Marlena thanks him, then joins Hope, Bo, and Roman in going to the mansion to retrieve him. While Bo and Roman occupy Stefano, Marlena and Hope find John in the basement.

This was a good episode of DAYS overall, but the scenes with John and Stefano were a little much for me. Hall, however, did a great job of bringing real emotion and importance to Marlena's reunion with John, even though everyone knew they'd be reunited and even though John had no reaction because he's been brainwashed.

The Young & the Restless
Best Lead Actor
Eric Braeden
Best Writing

Neil and Nicholas try to get Victor to see clearly about his lawsuit against Nikki. Victor later lashes out at Nick for being an ungrateful son, and fires him. Lily and Cane study together, when Neil walks in on them. Nikki and David talk about the future.

Wow, I thought Braeden was pretty damn impressive today. It was a man on the edge type performance and he delivered it flawlessly. The look of fury and remorse in his eyes was good, and you could truly empathize with the character's frustration (as flawed as it is).

Now on to the writing, I really thought it was a solid piece. From Lily to Cane, to Sharon letting go of Brad, to Victor finally showing his true emotions to Nick. It was a good day (not the Ice Cube track lol).

Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008.

Outstanding Lead Actor Scott Bryce (Craig Montgomery, As the World Turns.)

Outstanding Supporting ActressMarie Wilson (Meg Snyder Montgomery, ATWT.).

As Meg left Craig and he begged for forgiveness, both performers were on fire. I have never been a Wilson fan, but yesterday she delivered aces and then some. From her complete disgust with Craig to her later scenes with Paul when she tearfully, yet strongly informed him they would never have a future together, Wilson was superb. And Bryce is really becoming a lead actor frontrunner for next year, IMHO, as he once again showed solid emotion in his guilt for what he did and his pleas for forgiveness. And then, later, his anger and sarcastic scenes with Cady McClain's Rosanna put the icing on the cake for another potential Emmy reel for this seasoned and superb actor.

I agree about Braeden, MTSRocks.
What a standout performance today. And these new writers drew on Victor's past in the orphanage as Victor explained to Nick he has always felt "alone."

WOW, what a difference in this show since Latham is not writing it.

General Hospital
Rick Hearst as Ric Lansing
Supporting Actor

Ric explains to Alexis how Skye left him Lorenzo's waterfront properties. He tells her how he is going to leave town for awhile to try and fight the ongoing obsession he has with Sonny. Later, he confronts Trevor.

I thought Hearst was great in today's episode. It wasn't anything flashy, but it was very moving and honest. Hearst can do more with a facial expression than many actors can do with an entire page of dialogue.

The Young and the Restless
Sharon Case as Sharon Abbott
Supporting Actress

Sharon tells Brad once and for all that she is committed to Jack and that she and Brad will have no future. She also tells him that she thinks they shouldn't even be friends

It was a great episode of Y&R all around, and I thought Case really nailed the scenes when Sharon gives Brad the boot. The character of Sharon isn't always written very sympathetically, but Case manages to get you to feel something for Sharon no matter what.

HUNTER TYLO
Outstanding Supporting Actress
"The Bold and the Beautiful,"CBS
Jan 17,2008

Tylo has been kicking ass this week as Taylor comes apart at the seams.

Unable to deal with Brooke being Jack's biological mother, Taylor turned to the bottle this week and her arch enemy Brooke caught her, then snatched baby Jack.

What a harrowing performance Tylo gave today, and considering she just lost her son just a few short months ago, Tylo has not let her personal tragedy affect her work on B&B. In fact, she has really surpassed anything she has done in the past.

What a true performer this lady is.
Love ya Hunter!

Outstanding Drama Series
Outstanding Lead Actress
Erika Slezak as Viki Davidson
Outstanding Supporting Actress
Kathy Brier as Marcie McBain

Todd and Blair bring Tommy home. Marcie continues to apologize to Gigi for landing her in legal trouble and later runs into Viki at the police station. Marcie breaks down and apologizes to Viki for holding her hostage and asks her not to be kind and forgive her. Viki turns to the Assistant DA and tells him she does not wish to press charges against Marcie and would not testify against her in any capacity. She later posts Gigi's bail and says a tearful goodbye to Paris and her new friends. Dorian informs Charlie she knows he is Jared's father. John offers to help Gigi if she would be willing to testify against Todd.

A very strong episode with dynamite performances by Kathy Brier and especially Slezak. Her farewell to the Bon Jour Cafe were noyjing if not precious. Also kudos on the stunning montage with cross cuts back and forth from Marcie's booking to Tommy's Welcome Home party at Dorian's.

All My Children

Friday, January 18, 2008:

Outstanding Leading Actor:

David Canary as Adam Chandler:

Canary was back in top form after several years of horrid stories as Adam vengeful towards Krystal and Tad got them to the Pine Valley Inn under false pretenses to throw a surprise wedding reception--but as it turns out was to manipulate Krystal into leaving Tad for him and dropping a bombshell that little Kate could be closer to them than they thing. Canary showed every possible emotion---vengence, rage, hatred, and sincere vulnerbility. He played those scenes to perfection.

Congrats to Kathy Griffin on her second consecutive emmy win!

The Young and the Restless
Eric Braeden (as Victor Newman)
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES

quote:

ANALYSIS
Victor continues his vicious tirade against his wife Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Despite advice from Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Nick (Joshua Morrow), Victor's vindictive attitude towards Nikki remains stagnant. He and Nick argue and Nick is ultimately fired by his father, Victor.

Eric Braeden has kick started the year off with a bang and he's definitely on fire, as proved by this episode. His strongest scene here was his argument with on-screen son Josh Morrow, in which he ultimately ends up firing his son. When told by Nick that he would be alone, Victor came to a near-breaking point. His son's words nearly broke him into pieces, despite the cold, hard exterior that Victor bears. Braeden is killing it every time and he certainly deserves an Emmy nomination next year...and it's only January. He conveyed those emotions perfectly during that scene with Morrow in the break room. His son's words amounted him to mere tears. Braeden uncovered Victor's vulnerability with this performance and I applaud him 300 times over.

The Young and the Restless
Sharon Case (as Sharon Abbott)
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES

quote:

ANALYSIS
After Brad (Don Diamont) follows her on her business trip to Chicago, Sharon finally makes the difficult decision to end their friendship -- for good.

Case knocked it right out of the park and it's my contention that she's one of daytime's most underrated actresses. This year, I'd really like to see her aim for lead billing, alongside co-stars Michelle Stafford and Melody Thomas Scott, and her performance here shows why. Though Sharon clearly wants Brad's friendship, she's hurt and disheartened by the fact that he constantly criticizes her decision to stay married to Jack. The scene between her and Brad in the hotel room packed tons of emotions and tears and Case delivered the goods with brilliant results.

ICAM! Kirsten is an awesome actress and pulls out all stops where it counts! I don't particularly care for Maxie but she had me crying my eyes out during Georgie's death and funeral. The girl can ACT!!!

Outstanding Writing
Marcy Rylan - Supporting Actress
Daniel Cosgrove - Supporting Actor

The continually frustrating was on fire with goodness for Fridays eppy. It was an extremely tight script. So much happend and the hour was packed with excitement. It just makes me wonder how the hell the same writing team that puts out the AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL hour like Harley running through the street of NY looking for Phillip can put together a script like todays award worthy script.

Dorris locked Ashlee in her room, Coop confesses to burning down the Lewis construction site and blinding Bill in order to have Ashlee released. Ms. Mayor abides accordingly, and to look good for her public listens to her ex competitor (as a continually growing sexual attraction grows) Buzz.

Buzz lets Bill know it was Coop who made him loose his eyesight as Lizzie couldnt believe her eyes. A blind Bill sleeping with Ava just moments after they share some tenderness. Lizzie breaks down to Reva as she deals with the oncomming anniversary of Sarah's death.

Jonathan calls Reva to see if he should return home. Reva tells him to stay put. Billy kisses Vanessa. And Lizzie's doctor informs her she may be pregnant.

Classis soap stuff. Kriezman and co do days like today so well. But some of the other stuff is pure drivil. Here's to hoping the scabs take their ques from days like today.

Days of our Lives
Best Supporting Actress
Martha Madison - Belle Brady

After Phillip tells Belle that Claire is still missing, Belle tries to get out of bed to go after her, but collapses. Marlena brings John to see her, and Belle is stunned to see he is alive. Belle notices something is off about him, but she's still overjoyed to see him.

Martha was great here, especially considering how hard the scenes with Drake Hogestyn must have been, since John wasn't returning any of Belle's emotions. Her scene partner could be a brick wall and she could still make the scene stellar.

[As a sidenote: I love this new trend of writing to accomodate the more wooden actors, like how Hogestyn's John is now a brainwashed emotionless mercenary, and how Noah on ATWT can't show emotion because of his militant father.]

Outstanding Supporting Actress: Kelley Megnhian Hensley (Emily Stewart, As the World Turns.)

Kelley's scenes in the chapel with Paul (another wooden performance by Howarth, BTW) were meaningful and heartfelt as she gave just the right amount of anger, despair and emotion to her work once again. Later she showed disgust to Chris at his suggestion that she not let the police know anything about Dusty's presumption that he poisoned Bob and he wouldn't tell them about how furious she was at Dusty. A great day for KMH filled with nuance, subtext and history, minus the histronics.

I too hope GL know's what they have in Bill & Lizzie. He may be meant to be with Michelle one day, and he may have already had his time with Olivia and Beth - but Bill & Lizzie have the sizzle factor that will get viewers tuning in...add Jonathan to this mix and you have a fun story just waiting to be told. Today's intro to that story was extremely promising as Lizzie informed Bill, who was about to burn down Company, that she was pregnant with his baby. Rylan and Cosgrove have the IT chemistry and work really well together. Havent seen a couple I liked this much since Heather Tom & Dan Gauthier.

And again the script was as air tight as they come on GL these days. Between the Cyrus/Marina engagment annoucement and the possible Dorris/Buzz (again Cassidy and Deas have something I havent seen him have since Fiona Hutchison) set up - todays script was great. Are we sure these arent new script writers who have a heart?

Outstanding Writing In A Drama Series.

As The World Turns
Best Supporting Actress
Colleen Zenk Pinter - Barbara Ryan

Barbara and her doctor discuss the options for treating the tumor in her tongue, and she tries to avoid talking about why she hasn't told her family. Later, Tom tells Barbara that Dusty has been murdered, and she goes to the church to start planning his funeral.

KMH did a great job in this episode, but I thought CZP was great as well. I found her entire performance just very touching, especially in the church at the end of the episode. Barbara saying that she and Dusty had talked many times about when and if they'd ever see Johnny again was just heartbreaking.
