Tylo has been kicking ass this week as Taylor comes apart at the seams.
Unable to deal with Brooke being Jack's biological mother, Taylor turned to the bottle this week and her arch enemy Brooke caught her, then snatched baby Jack.
What a harrowing performance Tylo gave today, and considering she just lost her son just a few short months ago, Tylo has not let her personal tragedy affect her work on B&B. In fact, she has really surpassed anything she has done in the past.
What a true performer this lady is. Love ya Hunter!
She has been great. I think it is the best work I have seen her do since she came back.
WILLIAM PETERSEN: Well, this is a shock. The only explanation for this is that somehow in the last year, every one of you tried to act with rubber gloves and tweezers.

January 23, 2008 The Bold & the Beautiful Best Actress Hunter Tylo as Taylor Marone
Taylor confronts Brooke over her interfering in her marriage and motherhood.
Excellent performance by Tylo today. She was completely on point, and commanded the screen. Her body actions, tone, and rage were all justifiable and wonderfully executed. I have to say that more and more I'm thinking that Stephanie is not needed anymore...

Its funny you say that about Stephanie MTS. While I'm not anywhere near ready to say that B&B does not need Flannery anymore, I have found it very encouraging that in these last two weeks that Stephanie has been off-screen, the shows have still been really good. Usually when Flannery takes a vacation, the show suffers for it. But not lately. That said, don't want to see her retire anytime soon.
I agree about Tylo. Ever since she has been back from her leave because of her son's death, she has really surprised me as an actress. Its probably a good form of therapy for her to have a job where she can channel her grief. I admire her.
But this is the second time that SF has left and I hardly missed her. B&B really needs to make this character more grounded before she gets completely unbearable (and right now she's teetering there). I keep saying this but she needs some type of rejuvenation like Victoria Lord and Paris, Texas. If B&B would just feature Lesli Kay, Heather Tom, and Eileen Davidson more, then things would be even better. Flannery is still an excellent actress, but she's getting boring and one-note.

I am all for giving Kay, Davidson and Tom more airtime, but i need my Flannery fix.
Yes, B&B has been great these last 2 weeks without her, and that's a good thing. The show usually suffers when Susan takes a vacation, but this past year, Brad Bell has done a remarkable job at keeping things fresh and exciting during her absence.
I think Kay Alden has alot to do with B&B's sudden turnaround.
This show has been excellent lately, and as i stated previously, Tylo has been superb in this story.
And did you all notice how, after months of not even being in the same room with one another, Rick shows up on Taylor's doorstep to see Jack?
Nelson must be right, B&B is heading in the direction of a Taylor/Rick pairing. Can you imagine when Ridge and Phoebe find out about these 2, not to mention Brooke.
What poetic justice it would be if Rick helped Taylor face her demons, kick her addiction and get her life back on track. They fall in love, get married, and Taylor and Rick win custody of Brooke and Nick's child.
What a doozy of a story that would be.
Go for it, Brad!

Tammy's memorial service - one year later. Proved to be another example of how GL should be written every week. And Marcy Rylan continues to own the role of Lizzie Spaulding. Thinking she saw her baby Sarah and mourning the loss of her friend.
Friday, January 25, 2008 Marcy Rylan - Supporting Actress
Wow! Rylan proved today that she is the real deal. Soaps really are acting lessons for many young actors, and boy has Rylan paid attention to her teachers. Her Lizzie was heartbreaking today as she dealt with the realization she wasnt pregnant with Bill's child, tried to set up a romantic weekend to become pregnant with his child, having pangs of angst for her own baby who died a year ago, having a heart to heart with Reva and telling her how much she wish she could have told Tammy what being her best friend meant, telling Bill she wasnt pregnant with his baby, almost getting run over by a car, and having the presumed dead father of your last child save you from harms way. Rylan nailed EVERYTHING and it looks like the days to come will also prove extremely meaty for Rylan's Lizzie. Bravo!

Best Supporting Actress-Adrienne Frantz as Amber Moore
Amber is humiliated by Cane when he rips her wig off. Amber and Katherine have a heart to heart.
I know I'm going to be ridiculed for citing her but I think Adrienne did a terrific job opposite her scenes with Katherine. I felt like she brought down the histronics and gave an honest performance. Hopefully her acting stays this way.

I agree. She was fantastic in her scenes with Kim Zimmer. I totally felt her pain. I think GL has the best set of younger actresses of ANY soap with Caitlin Van Zandt, Bonnie Dennison, and Rylan. All three have different acting styles, but all three really shine when given strong material.

You know what? I was thinking the exact same thing when I was watching Frantz and Cooper. These two are sublime together, and if they tone down the Amber character a bit, then I could stomach her more. That ending was beautifully directed though.

I liked Frantz at B&B and I know she is capable of better than what she normally puts out since joining Y&R. This episode showed me a glimpse of that.

I was reminded of her great performance when she "killed" Tony during the stalker story. Excellent of the writers to tap into that side of Hall again.

Yeah I want to officially cite Joseph Mascolo January 28 2008 Days of Our Lives
I thought he did a great job of playing the drugged out Stefano. I dont think it would have been as good opposite anyone but Deidre Hall, but it was extremely well done by both.
January 28, 2008 Lead Actress - Debbi Morgan as Dr. Angie Baxter All My Children
Joe tells Angie that she shouldn't take care of Frankie as a doctor because, it is a conflict of interest. She is Frankie's mother. Angie continues to struggle with Frankie and Greenlee's illness and is desperately trying to find a cure.
GUIDING LIGHT Jan. 29, 2008 Drama Series Writing Supporting Actress - Marcy Rylan
The day Lizzie Spaulding and most GL fans have been waiting for exactly a year to experience. Jonathan lets Lizzie see her baby, as she realizes they're alive. A perfect script (even the RJ/Cassie/Will traintracks drama played nicely), a steller cast, and another hellva great performance from Marcy Rylan. This would be a wonderful tape for her. GL has been crackeling these past 2 weeks. I know it still has David Kriezman's name as writer, but I have to question who has been writing these scripts - because they're damn good and today was probably the best. Wonderful hour GL!

The Bold and the Beautiful Jan 28, 2008 Actor-John McCook
I thought the scene where Donna told him that Stephanie is blackmailing her because she knows Storm shot Stephanie was excellent. McCook went through three thoughts so well. 1-Stephanie is evil 2-Want to kill storm and 3-Loves Donna all at the same time. He was great.

General Hospital Jan 29 2008 Younger Actress-Kirsten Storms Supporting Actor-Bradford Anderson
Maxie tries to convince Spinelli Coop is not the text message killer. She wants him to help her find the real killer.
When they were in Kellys talking and she delivered the line "you're going to help me or find out just how bad, the bad blonde one can be", it was absolute PERFECTION. I havent heard a line delivered that perfectly on soaps in a very long time. She gave a top-notch performance full of grief and angst without ever going over the top.
I cited Bradford not because he had much to do here but because in my mind he was the perfect supporting actor in these scenes. His quiet subdued performance was the perfect compliment to Storms. Spinelli has a tendency to be over the top, Bradford toned it down alot in these scenes and it paid off. I dont know if that was a directing call or an acting call but whoever did it deserves kudos.
Marcy Rylan has been on fire but Kirsten Storms has been pretty smoking hot too. This has been a great week for the starlets of daytime. Good Stuff.
January 30, 2008 The Young and the Restless Jeanne Cooper as Katherine Chancellor Lead Actress
Katherine tells Amber about many of the important events from her past. After her learning from her doctor that she had a mini-stroke, and encouragement from Amber, Katherine tells Jill that she is stepping down from Chancellor Industries and writing a book about her life.
Great scenes from Cooper today as we got a trip down memory lane. The only thing that would hurt this as an Emmy tape would be the many flashbacks, but I thought it was a really good episode for Cooper. ------------------------------------------------ January 30, 2008 The Bold and the Beautiful Susan Flannery as Stephanie Forrester Lead Actress
Hunter Tylo as Taylor Marone Lead Actress
Kyle Lowder as Rick Forrester Supporting Actor
Eric convinces Stephanie that he has dumped Donna and she welcomes him back home, telling him how much she always has and will loved him. Rick goes back to Taylor's house and tells her how worried he is about her. Taylor tells him that her taking the drink was a lapse in judgment and explains how she is having a hard time with the situation regarding Jack. Rick tells her he wants to be there for her.
I thought that Flannery showed a vulnerable side of Stephanie today in a very low-key but effective performance. Even though she thinks that her blackmail worked, Stephanie is truly happy that her husband is back.
Tylo has been getting a lot of notice for her work so far this year, and its all well-deserved. I liked her today because it wasn't a 'Taylor breaking down' scene, but a more calm scene where Taylor knows she's slipping out of control. As for Lowder, I haven't been that big on him since he joined B&B, but I saw something today that I liked. I think he and Tylo are good together on-screen.
------------------------------------------------ January 30, 2008 One Life To Live Hillary B. Smith as Nora Hanen Lead Actress
Robert S. Woods as Bo Buchanan Lead Actor
Bo and Nora begin to argue over Bo still holding a grudge against Nora for cheating on him. Nora asks Bo why he is so willing to forgive everyone else in his life, be he never bothered to try to forgive her for one mistake, therefore ending their marriage.
I really liked these scenes today because it was two great veteran characters talking about past events on the show. Smith is great at the almost-crying aspect, which was perfect today. They are excellent scene partners.
