I have totally given up on ATWT and it kills me. First off, I started a new job so I don't have the time to watch it during the day. But I also don't think I have the patience to watch it on-line on CBS.com because it's gotten so tiredsome and idiotic.

I tried given it a try watching an episode last weekend and I could barely focus because it's so boring and dumb. Despite having Cady McClain back into the fold, it doesn't pique my interests anymore.

I've been a fan for over damn, 25 years, since I was really young, and I can't believe I don't even care about ATWT any longer.

Maybe I need to watch a few more episodes to get back on track and to actually care again but at this point I think it'll be a total waste of my time.

Watch the specific stories you're up for on Youtube or ('UsTube' as the elegant ATWT writers would put it). Hehe.

Some people, if they don't know, you can't tell 'em.

I say, don't waste you time trying to care. The fact that this industry has people willing to put in active effort to care about a show is a testament to its fans. But the fact that devoted, long-time fans have to try so hard to work up interest in even watching the show is a sad, but sadly accurate, commentary on the state of the medium.

"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide."
- Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)

I feel your pain Caresa.

I only started watching around the time Carly slept w/Mike before one of her weddings to Jack, but I really fell in love fast.

When they started this new fast story business, recasting characters with bad child actors and focusing so much on Paul and Dusty but never changing their lines, I just had to give up.

I had some time off a couple of weeks ago so I caught the Henry and Vienna lose the baby story. It was a blessing and a curse to be able to fast forward through almost everything else (except Janet and Carly) but I found that I can't get into a show when I am constantly just searching for a few decent scenes. Why bother?

I started watching ATWT in 1980. One of the frustrating aspects for me is the incessant recasting. While I realize that recasts are a reality in the world of daytime, ATWT has a habit of altogether reinventing characters.

Examples of this unfortunate phenomenon include Craig, Dusty, Meg, and Paul.

In effect, the writers disrespect character integrity rather than pay tribute to the show's history. To add to the detriment of the show, the writers tend to give these recasts a disproportionate amount of screen time.

No disrespect is intended toward the actors, who all do a fine job. But the large number of recasts is a problem, and one that is compounded by weak storylines and implausible character development.

Furthermore, the vets need to be given weightier material. We need only look to the work of Jeanne Cooper to see that, with a bit of creativity on the part of the writers, mature performers can carry major stories.

It's so sad how ATWT has become such a lifeless lost cause over the last year. What was once a great show is now lost....then again I said the same thing about AMC in 2007 so hopefully they can dig themselves out of this rut. But I'm holding my breath with those in charge.

That is weird to me because i am not just starting to watch ATWT.

I do need a bit of a recap though: WHO is this sexy lady that is like a talk show host or something and why does this cross-dressing guy hate her?

Sexy lady is Vienna, the wife of the guy behind the drag (Henry). Henry is pretending be Geneva Swift to keep an eye on his wife so she wouldn't flaunt her goods on television.

I just started watching the show in its entirely recently as well. I was just catching up on Luke & Noah scenes prior to that.

thanks BrandoObession.

so you mean to tell me they are doing a story about a man not wanting his sexy wife to flaunt her body on TV so he is dressing in DRAG? instead of you know, talking to her? that sounds kind of dumb if you ask me. and how is that man not gay?

Welcome to the current dumbed down 'As The World Turns'... It's sad but true. From what I've seen so far from Henry, he's there for comic relief. I think a conversation between Henry and Vienna did take place but she wouldn't listen so Henry decides to "teach her a lesson".

For some unknown reason, I'm still watching this show. Well, not unknown... I know why I watch- but boy, have I been told I'm suffering for a small glimpse of hope.

RIP- As the World Turns (1956-1993)

the REAL ATWT died over 16 years ago when Douglas Marland died...

the NEWLY Improved ATWT died when Hogan Sheffer was shown the door...

With GL ending in 12 weeks, ATWT and DAYS will more than likely be next...soap operas have gone the way of variety shows and westerns...programming heaven...

I hate to say it but you may just be right. it's so sad too. I just wonder what Agnes Nixon is thinking about the state of the industry she helped to mold?

LoL. Margo has ALWAYS been the worst cop ever. The cast of ATWT even jokes about how bad of a cop she is.
