The moment she won was one of the greatest moments in Daytime Emmy history. I recall hearing the buzz before the ceremony that it was finally going to be her year. Before Shemar Moore said her name, I had a feeling it was about to happen and I felt such elation for Susan while watching the show at home in front of the family TV that I couldn't help but cheer along with the crowd at the ceremony!
Though I was ecstatic that MTS FINALLY garnered a nod, it really was Lucci's Emmy to lose, with the only real competition being Kim Zimmer, who I thought might be the spoiler. However, the clone storyline likely proved laughable to voters, despite Zimmer's grand performance in the plot. You just couldn't compare the extreme reality-based AMC plot to the GL storyline. As Tom O'Neill once said on one of the pre-Emmy shows (at least I think it was Tom who said it), when Lucci plays her maternal feelings, it ends up being some of her best work. I still get goose bumps when I see Lucci finally get her award.
