I've seen promos, but haven't seen the show. I gotta say I doubt she'll get any traction. I don't know if her show is going up as entertainment, where it has no chance, or as informative, where it has a very slim chance. In the first category, if Bonnie Hunt couldn't even make it I doubt Williams will. In the second, Tyra seems to have that category locked down, and with "The Dr. Oz Show" also premiering, in addition to the continuing "The Doctors" and "Dr. Phil," I doubt there will be room for Wendy.
You say reviews are strong. Do you have any links? It didn't look too promising from the promos.
"A movie is not good because it arrives at conclusions you share, or bad because it does not. A movie is not about what it is about. It is about how it is about it: about the way it considers its subject matter, and about how its real subject may be quite different from the one it seems to provide." - Roger Ebert, from the introduction to "Awake in the Dark" (2006)

Yeah, thats the one. The only exposure I've had to this show is the weekly lampooning it takes on "The Soup". Most of the jokes about the show each week are that its production values are subpar, which seems to be true when they show clips of it. Wendy Williams seems to have a good personality though, and she has even played along with the joking on "The Soup", so maybe she could get a Best Host nomination someday.

The budget on the show is about $30 a week and the best guests are the "real" housewives from Bravo. Even with all that the show is entertaining and funny although most of the comedy is unintentional, like Wendy flashing when she uncrosses her legs or when she constantly loses her train of thought because her mouth is watering but she does have a great sense of humor.
i sure hope not because that show is god-awful. Williams is an awful host; in fact having heard so much about her radio show and her apparently infamous and intrisive interviews i was shocked at how boring she is as a host. She can't seem to follow a logical train of thought and asks no really intresting questions. The production values are just awful and she always seems so lost as if she's never been in front of a camera before or never interviewed somebody.
Praying The Daytime Emmys air on TV in 2010!

If that wretched vanity package now known simply as "Tyra" can win an emmy, then why not Ms. Willimas? Afterall, Sally Jesse Rapheal and Montel Williams have emmys on their mantels.

If there is an award for "Best Rambling Stream-of-Consciousness By a Host with Bad Wigs and Inappropriate for Television Skirts", then yes, she could conceivably win.

Wendy was much better on Radio, I think she toned down her "nasty" interviewing skills cause she wants to land more big names. You can go on Youtube and Listen to the INFAMOUS interview she did with Whitney Houston.. Call me crazy but i think she might get nominated for best host next year, IF there is a show come 2010..plus hair and make-up..
HOW YOU DOIN
There are too many up-tight gay people on this borad..They need to get laid.. holla at me and if your in my area maybe I can help you out..

Agreed.
I think Tyra and her show are awful, yet its won multiple Emmys.

I miss her radio show on VH1. I didn't miss an episode. She was hilarious. I still chuckle at the episode where she's like "My husband really knows how to lay down the pipe."
Tyra Banks's show is very good when she focuses on issues. Having seen both of her submissions the last two years, I was amazed to see how good her show is. Her submission this year was one of the best episodes of any daytime series that I've seen. I know it's the "in" thing to bash Tyra Banks, but I'd take her show over most of the chat shows. She's certainly a better interviewer than DeGeneres, Ripa, the View Women, and Wendy Williams, and she's no more self-centered than Winfrey or Dr. Phil. Here's a suggestion for the Tyra haters: watch Dr. Phil's submission for Best INFORMATIVE talk show and then watch Banks's.
As for Wendy Williams, I finally watch a part of an episode. She was interviewing Ruby Gettinger from RUBY (the former 700+ pound woman). Williams is not a great interviewer. She has too much energy and she flits from thing to the next, but I actually felt she was interested in what her guest was saying. So many hosts wait for the guest to stop talking (DeGeneres, Ripa, the View) so they can make their points. Williams attempts to make it a regular conversation. That I appreciated.
There's also no denying that she's a mess, but she's an endearing mess. Most of the time she behaved like she had landed on an alien planet and did not know the customs of the new land. I couldn't watch her show on an every day basis, but once in a blue moon, I might give it another look in.

See that's what I love about Wendy. She seems genuinely interested in her guests and I like the raw, messy, unfocused interviews she conducts with her guests. It's kind of cool that Williams is so unpolished; it's refreshing. She doesn't seem like one of those fake, butt kissing hosts.
I agree that Wendy is better on the radio than TV, but I will say that the show has kinda improved over time. Eh given how the quality of talk shows in daytime have decline, I don't think ppl should be surprised if this got a nomination.

Bonnie Hunt deserves a nom, hell, a win, before anyone else.
