That soap has the most disputes it needs its own thread.
So Braeden's being written out because of this paycut, while useless characters Amber, Kevin, Jana, Daniel, Deacon, JT, Victoria, Michael, Neil, Lily, Devon, Jeff, Gloria, Lauren, Esther and Chloe are retained. Problem solved: there's the cash you need for Braeden and extra.
MTS battled TPTB on the same thing. Jess Walton had the dispute, and the potential Primetime recasts. Engengate happened.
Heather Tom's persona non grata at Y&R despite being technically back in the Bell fold. 3 actors are threatening to quit should ratings draw Victoria Rowell gloriously retunr as Drucilla.
Why is Y&R being run this way? Other soaps don't seem to have as many problems with the negotiations of their big names. B&B never seems to have issues when Moss, KKL or SF renew. Will Y&R finally be overtaken by B&B with all these on set issues?
CBS Daytime should change their motto to this- "CBS Daytime: MORE Drama behind the scenes than their is IN FRONT of the camera, ranging from Eric Braeden's paycut to GL's cancellation, to ATWT's off-camera sexual conquests, to the mishandling of CBS's GLBTQ couples..."

I have always found CBS handling of contracts unusual. The big stars that have been there for years should be forefront, and should be paid what they want, as long as it is within reason. The pay cuts should affect everyone, and I agree that some of the waste should be let go first before asking stars like Melody Thomas Scott, and Eric Braeden who have been big figures on the show to take a pay cut.
